Hi Mimi (Sandi?) You're not too late--the weekend thread will go until the first person who posts on Monday, they'll start the weekday thread. So there's always a work-along thread going on! I hope you'll be inspired, good luck on your laundry tonight. I've been doing little things here and there, nothing specific but cleaning up little messes. I would say I'm almost happy with the way the apartment looks--if someone knocked on my door right now, I would probably answer it. I would still like to clean the bird cage tonight, and prepare my recycling to go out in the morning. Diane

Thanks Diane, I think it looks great. I'm noticing how little my tastes have changed the years and how well my treasures work together now that I can find them. That little doggie is one of the best I've ever had. Not only is she beautiful but so sweet, gentle and smart. That's her favorite spot in the world.

Tnmimi, seeing other people's pictures really inspired me too and I figured there's only like 6 people max who could recognize my bedroom and they already know how messy I can be so there's no harm.

Hi openwindows, welcome - you have made such great progress. Hi tnmimi, nice to see you here - I look forward to hearing from you and seeing your photos if you decide to post. Diane - you are making steady progress, as per usual. I do hope that your senior client truly appreciates all that you do for her. I have had a slow start this morning due to a cat who did not want to be dislodged, but we got there eventually. Dishwasher unloaded. Now I need to head off to do some errands and hope to be back soonish.

Alright people. It's nearly 10 on Sunday night here. Which means TRASH NIGHT!!! I am far to often guilty of getting *** and not putting out the trash. I would very much like to get all the trash and recycling out so I can start fresh tomorrow. The whole things seems overwhelming. I'm going to set a timer and see what I can get done. I'll check back.

Ok....14 minutes and I took out the two largest bags of trash, plus the two largest containers of recycling. I put my bins at the curb. Downstairs neighbors had already put their's out. But now the bins are full, sans one recycling bin. So I need to deposit items into my neighbors bins and/or smash my bins down a bit. If the bin doesn't close all the way the city can refuse to pick it up. Ridiculous, but true.
While I know putting trash in a neighbors bin isn't exactly on the up and up, I feel like it's more or less okay, if they have already moved their bin to the street for the night. I'm going to continue to work to try to get ALL the trash and recycling out.

Hello jendela, better and shells! Shells, it would be nice to have a fresh start with recycling and garbage tomorrow, but if it doesn't all get out, there's always the next pick-up (especially for recycling which hopefully won't smell bad if it's left an extra week....).
I cleaned the bird cage, collected the recycling, de-haired the loveseat cover and the cat stairs, and got some things ready for tomorrow. I also did some of my end of day jobs, just a couple more and I'll be ready for an early bedtime. I keep going to bed early thinking I'll get up early, but I'm still tired in the morning--one of these day I'll hopefully catch up on sleep and bounce right out of bed at 5:30am!!
Good night!
Diane

Nice work Diane!
I spent another 8 minutes taking out bags. Three of them to be exact. They are smaller shopping bags at this point. I took one to my bins, one to the neighbors to the left and one to the neighbors around the corner. The whole process is slower cause I don't want to do too much at once in case someone notices. The dog makes a good cover...
A good portion of the trash and recycling is gone, but I'd like to keep going and possibly clean out the fridge and freezer too.

Alright, I cleaned out the worst of the worst in the fridge and the crock pot that I had been dreading and took it out to the trash. I don't have ALL of the trash and recycling out, but I did get a sizable portion of it out and I probably have what is considered a normal amount of trash and recycling at this point. So tomorrow after pickup i can put the rest in the outside bins. I opened a window in the kitchen, put the vent on and I'm simmering a little vinegar in hopes of getting rid of any smell.
Also, since I've been getting my mail regularly, I picked up two envelopes on my way back in from my last trash run. One was a from an insurance company I no longer so business with. It was a check for $250 marked premium refund. What a splendid way to end the weekend.
See you all tomorrow!

jendela In case I forget to mention it your are an inspiration to me - you have managed to get your house in shape where a catalog from Dec 2014 seems like it is bad clutter and overdue to be thrown out. I hope to get there some day. Right now old papers would have to be in the 90s for me to raise an eyebrow. hey TML, thanks for your kind words but I need to be brutally honest with you. While I have been getting a lot of old papers out, they are probably the more 'recent' old papers, if you know what I mean. The box the December 2014 catalogues were in is sitting on top of a box that contains, amongst other things, around 20 old computer diskettes. Goodness knows what information is on them, although I know that there is likely to be some CV/job resume stuff, some old tax calculations and also some notes from when I was studying around 20 years ago.
Of course, we no longer have a computer that accepts these old diskettes, let alone the relevant computer programs. DH has kindly fished out the old style computer drive and has offered to put it into my computer if I wish to try and access the information. I am trying to be brave and accept that if I haven't needed this information in the last 20 or so years, then I probably wont need it again in the future. I will let you know how I get on.
Sorry to see that you have hurt your knee again, wishing you a speedy recovery.
BTW - I should mention that you are an inspiration to me, especially with regard to your post on another thread, about the process of generational change as we get older. I wont go into detail as I don't wish to misquote you, but it had a powerful effect on me.
