I used a variation on your 8 min theme to move a mountain of mulch today. I had two yards of mulch and a three pound margarine tub. I moved it one tub at a time. It seemed overwhelming and daunting at first...but bit by bit...that pile slowly diminished. I did not make a huge dent in the pile but I did make an noticeable dent. I am sore but happy!! I totally missed this post themail other day. This is AWESOME! GO BLONDIE!!!!

WTG dirtbee and ohblondie! And thank you, dayeanu for starting this thread/method. I have so many things I need to do that I don't know where to start. I make lists, but it makes me feel more overwhelmed. I commit to an 8 minute session, starting now.

1st 8 minutes done and I feel a little more confident. Going to spend the next 8 minute session getting floors ready to be vacuumed. I also want to tackle an icky task before it gets dark out. Will report back. How is everyone else holding up?

Report for yesterday: I was able to vacuum, clean my very squalorous couch (really bad), removed caulking in kitchen near sink, and changed the cat litter. I took out 10 big bags of trash to the dumpster as well.

hey all, can I jump in here? I haven't posted on here for a long time. I found this thread and figure even I can manage 8 minutes . I have a new bed currently in storage at my parents' house and need to clear the sitting room and bedroom before it can be brought in but I would like to start in my hall which is the smallest space and the first people at my front door can see. I am loathe to let anyone in and only do so if absolutely necessary. I have things in my home needing fixed but can't let any workmen come in. I really feel my squalor is keeping me in isolation and would like my good friend to be able to come and visit me so I need to commit myself to clearing and cleaning. I wanna break outta this prison I'm trapped in.

Thank you, Arid! Declutterme, I hope the 8 minute bout helped you out. Getting started is the hardest. I just did 8 minutes (a little over) to pick up any garbage and/or junk to take out to the garbage. I am very lucky to have a dumpster I can take things out to any time. Sometimes it gets filled but this week it isn't bad, so I got out three bags before it is emptied tomorrow. I'm realizing how much of my 'stuff' is junk. Either because it got squalored, or it is past usable. Sad. I can deal easier with the 'still good' things that go live somewhere else.

I only started my 8 mins tonight. I had a sore foot all week and doc said y'day a bone might be broken but an x-ray last night revealed inflammation. got ibuprofen and painkillers and it feels better today so I decided to use my 8 mins in the dish washing support thread. I got DW unloaded and reloaded and on just as the timer was ringing so I feel I have accomplished something even if small. emptied sitting room bins and picked up some rubbish from floor that had missed the bin and some rubbish from seat on sofa beside me, a deffo "clutter hotspot" for me!

Good job, declutterme!
I'm glad to hear that your foot isn't broken (BTDT--don't want to do it again!!); I hope that the inflammation subsides quickly.

OK, I figured I am getting my priorities wrong yet again . Was gonna start my 8 mins in the hall when I have barely a path to walk across my sitting room!!! So that's where I'm gonna start, I'll lift all the rubbish first and then look at stuff that needs lifted and put away. Right now I don't know WHERE to put the stuff I wanna keep but will just concentrate on rubbish for now as I can put them into black bin bags and outta here.

Declutterme, trash out first is a really good rule. Nothing wrong with changing plans when you see something more pressing or useful. Go you!
