The only thing I retained from Flylady was to clean the sink. I've tried once or twice to shine it, but no, it's too old and battle scarred. Just having the sink cleaned out at night and coming in the kitchen in the morning to a clean sink is a wonderful thing. It just makes me smile.

Thanks Serendipity! I ended up doing two more 8 minutes and putting on another dishwasher load and even doing some washing up so I was really proud of myself. Habithacker is a program that's loosely based on the flylady program (which I think is based on something else anyway?) but it just isn't as strict and dogmatic about things. Shine your sink becomes polish your place (so you choose your own small space to clean), weekly home blessing becomes half-assed housekeeping hour etc. The lady who writes it is very down to earth and focuses a lot on letting go of perfectionism which is what I need. I really liked it the first time I did it but I really need to redo it to relearn the habits. I'm off to do my 8 minutes on the kitchen bench for the day!

I could never get on board with shine your sink. Mostly because it was never a big issue for me - I don't stack dishes in their generally - I stack them on every other flat service in the kitchen! So it didn't seem right for that to be the spot I shined every day and focused on. I had better luck when I cleared and cleaned my little entry way table each day - it gave me a real boost! But I'm super glad shining your sink works for you imamess

Today I am aiming for 8 minutes on my kitchen bench and cleaning up after breakfast and then maybe another 8 minutes unpacking and packing the dishwasher...

That's a great idea Serendipity! Good luck with your kitchen counters! minibee just fell asleep on the living room floor (poor little buddy - I didn't realise he was that tired!) as I have transferred him into his cot and am going to use however long I've got to just work in 8 minutes slots around the house. A friend would like to come over this afternoon so I can visit her new baby and I need to get the front areas clean enough for that... I don't know if I'll make it but I'll see how many 8 minutes I can get done!

5 x 8 minutes and I've cleaned off one couch, picked up the floor and done a bit more in the kitchen...
minibreak time and then I am going to swish and swipe the powder room and bathroom in case she needs to use the facilities when she comes!
