Did 4 8mins. Walked puppy, found, measured and washed a set of shelves, emptied top pantry shelf of small appliances, installed extra shelf. Now an 8 min break.

Kitchen done -- yesterday's dishes put away and breakfast and lunch dishes washed.
Next -- 8 minutes on updating finances.

Budget and accounts updated and bills paid. Yay, bobolink! Excellent! Re the sun room --- But what were my options? No one else was going to do it, and it wasn't going to get any cleaner on its own. It will be nice when it's finished. But I'm pretty sure that carpet will have to go!

Thank you openwindows and bobolinkI have now done six 8 minute sessions in the sun room, temporarily renamed the "far dirtier than the barn" room. For months and months, my lovely descendents had been piling their bags of garbage in there, waiting for "someone" to haul it off. Since the sun room was originally an open porch that was later screened in and carpeted (my mother was obsessed with carpeting), there is about a 1/2" gap around the bottom - so rain could run off, I guess. Frankly, I might would have liked it better as an open porch with concrete floor. That way, it could be swept/hosed off. If you're going to make it into a sun room, finish the job. Closed in and carpeted, with a 1/2" gap all the way around the floor just lets critters in! And with birds out there last summer (bird seed), and bags of garbage all winter, it's a mouse delight. I started setting traps out there several months ago, and hauled off all the bags of trash a few weeks ago. But it's nasty. Bags were chewed open and the contents spilled everywhere. Stuff was thrown on top of that. Mice died and were buried in the mess. I'm sure you get the idea. It's so nasty that my clothes smell like old garbage, after working out there for only 48 minutes. Someone on the board said no one ever admits to being level 3 or 4.......here it is, folks. Level 4, piled high and wide. I'm telling you, there is no way I could tackle it if I thought I had to work for more than 8 minutes at a time. YAY for 8 minutes! Excellent job dayeanu! Your sun room sounds like a wonderful place once the garbage and carpet is gone.

Did 4 more 8mins and cleaned the nonsoakable parts of 3 small appliances, soakable parts are soaking. Looked at #4 and dropped it in the trash. Took a break and returned a phone call. I've been level 3 dayeanu. Every single item I have has to be wash because of it, the smell of the old place clings to everything. Yesterday I tried hanging clothes in my closet and couldn't get past the smell of the hangers. I ended up wiping each and every one down. And one of those soaking items is the cooking pan for my toaster oven, apparently it didn't get washed last time I used it and I honestly can't remember when that was. Admitting how bad it really is is hard, I give you a round of clapping for being able to do that. (Tried putting clapping hands here but they showed up as frowny faces, oh no) Keep up your hard work! (I know the word I was looking for up there but spell check said I was on my own and my dictionary is still awal, )

I have returned from town with disposable bags and disposable filters for.the shop vac, face masks for me, and another pair of rubber gloves.
It's almost dark here so I may wait until tomorrow morning to vacuum the summer room.
I need to wash some dishes tonight.

I'm in- setting timer for 8 minutes- need to make one major visual improvement and do some disinfecting of light switches and door handles cos I have a cold. Here goes and I certainly don't feel like it, and would prefer it was 6 mins but I'll start for 8 mins.

Hi dayeanu- great thread, Took 4 lots of 8 minutes and did it back to back, resetting timer immediately it went off= 32 minutes and passed quickly. wash new dishes and wipe bench again put soup on disinfect door handles and light switches and toilet 1 major visual improvement (sitting room neat and tidy and some pick up and reshuffle of small stacks of papers)
I actually like 8 minutes- it passed quickly and was a good amount of time- I think even better than 6 minutes, and timer was easily pressable for another 8 when in the swing of things. So yeah, looks like 8 minutes is the new black.

ok I'm going to 8 minutes in every room. The kitchen 8 minutes will be dinner prep which is all it should need before going in the oven. Shall we see? I've had a crappy few days and While I haven't lost ground other than the kitchen yet, I'm perilously close!
Kitchen/Dining/Hallways/front lounge/stairs/girls room/boy room/my room/ensuite. It's less than an hour and a half. I can do that before bed time, which is 4/5 hours away.
