I'm not off this weekend, but I'm not any busier than usual, even though pet care workers usually are--I don't have that many pet care clients, and none of them are going away for the weekend. One of my clients is going away the following weekend, and another is going away the weekend after that.
I hope to make some progress on my summer goals this weekend, which means cleaning blinds and listing some books for sale.

Jumping in the pool...(had to make some type of summer reference!!!) I will do my weekend stuff and try to throw in a little extra.
I must also pause to remember those who served and a little relaxation time for me.....
It will be sunny but not brutally hot this weekend in NYS where I am. SO hopefully I can get some dreaded yard work done. I also need to get the hot water heater off the deck (it is headed for the scrap yard. I will put the panels on the screen room as well. And help my aunt clean her porch. Shop vac the dirt and somehow clean the floor....maybe a bucket or two of hot soapy water and a rinse?
DD wants to have some friends over so she is cleaning the kitchen - hopefully.....
Here's to a great weekend everyone!

One project for this weekend -- I like to "summerize" my house by making a few changes in the accessories and so forth. It's been so chilly this spring, but I am going to go ahead and take up the two area rugs this weekend and get the hardwood floors all swept and cleaned. The rugs are small -- one is maybe 5x7 and the other is maybe a little bigger -- so it is not a huge project to get them rolled up and put in the basement or attic. I think I am actually going to get rid of one of them because it is a light color and that just didn't work out very well. It isn't any harder to clean than any other rug, but it's harder to keep it LOOKING clean, if that makes any sense.
Those two rugs are easy, because they are in the middle of the room and have little to no furniture actually on them. However, I am going to have to think about whether I want to take up the one in one of the bedrooms. It's a little bigger, hardly smaller than the room itself, so there's nowhere to maneuver. And the bed is on top of it, so that's difficult. But I will just keep in mind how much I like the look of the bare floors in the hot weather.
In the fall, when it gets chilly again, it's really nice to have the rugs back on the floor!
My grandmother used to change out her window curtains with the seasons. I don't know anyone who still does that, but it's the kind of thing I would probably like to do, if I had the means to do so. Our house is so small that it's always in danger of looking the exact same, season after season, year after year, and that can get a little depressing. Changing up little things like that would not only improve my morale but also would keep things cleaner! I am always astonished at how dusty curtains get. I can't see the dust on them like I can on the venetian blinds, but it's there all right.

Oh my goodness nifty50....back when I was a newlywed and for several years after, I would do the same thing. My mother in law might still do it. We took drapes down and put up sheer curtains. I would change out decorations and such. I made a huge production of changing out my clothes - but now I have more year round pieces. I really used to like doing this because i would also do a deep spring and fall cleaning. When I changed the curtains (they would get washed and ironed and put away), the window frames and panes would get washed and cleaned. I would move furniture and vacuum underneath. the ceilings would get cleaned and cobwebs removed from the corners. I dont know hte last time I cleaned a corner or vacuumed under a sofa.

Hello nifty50, I've never been decluttered enough before to worry about changing things out for seasons, in fact, last fall when I was doing a serious cleaning prior to radiator repairs, I realized that the sloppy looking canvas "curtain" on my back door had been there for the entire 18 years that I've lived here--and I've never even taken it down to wash. I vacuumed it really well that day, but it sure would be nice to have something that looks a little better there. I do have to find something to cover my couch with for the summer. I have the warm plush throw that I bought in the fall and have been using all winter, and I love it for cold weather--but on a warm day just looking at it is uncomfortable! I have to figure out a sheet or something like that. I must also pause to remember those who servedThank you for this Ohblondie, good reminder. It's easy to just think about picnics and summer and getting a day off, and to forget what the holiday is supposed to mean. I'm home now, but stayed longer than usual helping clean my main client's basement, so I'm tired and hungry. I'm going to eat lunch, and read for a while, and by that time I'll have an hour and a half left before having to leave for my last walk of the day. I'll do something once my feet are rested, though. Hello mimi, enjoy your relaxing evening and rest up so you can work hard tomorrow! I've been working on little things but nothing major. Pet care, decluttering, client phone calls, end-of-day jobs. I think I, too, will hope for lots of energy tomorrow, and get to bed early tonight. Diane

I got a good nights sleep because I took some z-quil and just got up a few minutes ago. I'm not terribly fuzzy headed this morning, as I feared I might be and I'm enjoying my first cup of coffee before I get the dogs fed. I spent some time looking at the closest Craigslist to see if there were people nearly offering handyman services and housekeeping/cleaning services but they all seem to be located up in the bigger cities about 30 miles away. I probably shouldn't spend the money anyway but the thought of getting a big chunk of work done in short order is so appealing.
I will be heading in to town today to the grocery store and the farmers market. I'm going through green beans at an incredible rate as I try to get my two newly adopted dogs down to a healthy weight. They should probably be in the 60 pound range and one was 113 pounds, the other 103 pounds when they first came to the rescue group. They are sweet sisters who will turn 9 soon and I'd like them to be with me for many years to come and getting the excess weight off them will help with that.
Time to get my day going. I'll stop by later and report what I've managed to do on this sunny but not too warm day.

HI all I really need to dive back in and got some momentum going so hoping that joining in with all of you this weekend will do just that. I am running very behind and have not had time to catch up on all of your goals and progress up to this point, but I will after I get back on top, later this afternoon. DD has dance recital in T-minus 1.5 hours. I have to get ready and it then it will take about a half an hour to get to the recital location. She has to be there an hour early so I need to drop her off and then go and get flowers. So here goes Shower head to toe -- Plus summer legs Dig out some summer clothes Clean out van Get camera Luckily DD is at the age she is on auto pilot and gathers all of her recital "stuff" including putting her hair in a bun. This will be the first year I will not do her hair and makeup. She is growing up . After recital we will go for ice cream and then I need to pick up DS at a friends house. I will then be ready to set some serious plans for the remainder of this 3 day weekend. ONWARD TO THE PRIZE BEFORE ME (US)

Good evening everyone I have had a succesful day today: dusted and hoovered in the morning as usual, wiped all the kitchen apart from the table, which I will do soon, cleaned most of the batroom, watered plants and refilled the bottles. Then I met my friend, we went to check the new books (nothing much there) and did some shopping before lunch. I bought myself some loose green tea - finished one kind yesterday. I attended an Antistress class on Wednesday and the lady stressed how important is to reward ourselves regularly - most of us could not remember our last reward, so I made up for that today and bought myself three books I have wanted for ages. It is Survivor in Death and Origin in Death by J. D. Robb and MC Brigands my Robert Muchamore. I know you will want to know what I got, dtesposito And another reward was a good cofee with a great chocolate cake in an expencive shop - it was worth the money, followed by Shaun the sheep the movie. Very adult homour there. Now I have already wrapped all the books and put them in their proper place - had to purge some to make space. And I have updated my book lists and wrote down expences. A really good day.

Woke up this morning to discover allergy season is in full swing. My eyes itch, my nose is running/stuffy and I have a whole new crop of blisters on my hands. Not moving too fast today. This weekend my project is the craft closet and backlogged Mt Washmore I hid in there. It's a small area that will make a huge difference. Off I go.
