Hi mouseanne! I sure admire your quilting persistence. I've got a box full of knitting and crochet projects I am looking forward to working through this winter. Can you join you here? As for procrastination, I need to get my sheep shears boxed up and mailed to the dealer for service and sharpening. So I will try to get that done this weekend.

Hi, angela! It's dtesposito 's thread, but she has welcomed our anti-procrastination accomplishments... See you here this winter. TaDa quilt A, cut & pieced batting (was just a few inches short.) Next up: put marker pins in the top that has short seams to remove as I fray-check. And relaxing another package of batting.

I brought a wire kitchen shelf back into the kitchen from the sewing room where it had been sitting since the end of May. I scrubbed the dirt and grease off (YUK!!!), put it back into position and put its contents back. I put all my cookbooks in the bookcase in the living room to make room in a vintage Hoosier like cabinet for a vintage stainless steel mixer that a friend gave me. I don't bake much, but it is very nice, so I will keep it a while longer.
I have one more tall skinny shelf/bookcase like thing to go back in the kitchen. I will try to get that one brought back in this week.

I swept off my front porch and picked up all the clutter and put it away and scrubbed the mat in front of the front door. Hmmm, that's three things. The next thing was that I washed my truck. I still need to pull the bed mat out and wash inside the bed and the mat and vacuum out the inside. I did clean the inner doors, wiped the dust off the dash and console. I also emptied the garden wagon of the weeds that I pulled from the rhubarb bed last week, plus the soured water and mud from the rain, then I took the hose and washed it out. So looking back at what I typed, that's about 5 things.
I also painted two metal horses, a small resin tray, a clock frame and a weight for vintage scales on both sides. I think I'm going to check the air pressure in my tires and maybe vacuum the truck. I've got a headache, so I really don't know how much more I will get accomplished today.

I'm finally back here! I just looked back and I'm 8 weeks behind on procrastination items, but I'm here to report that today I did 3 in one afternoon. I moved furniture in the window corner of my bedroom so I could get in the right position to get the screen back into the track. It has been loose for at least a year, whenever it's windy it rattles. So that's fixed. Then I installed a handle at the bottom of the window so that I can open it much more easily--I've been meaning to that since I moved in here...18 years ago. And I washed the sheet that serves as a curtain on that window. I have to stand on a ladder to take it down, which I can't do unless I move the two tables by the window, which I can't do because they're full of stuff and can't just be moved over (radiator in the way) they have to be lifted out. So I probably wash that curtain only once a year. So, now I owe 5 procrastination items to get back up to date! Diane

What a good idea! I bought two shoe stretchers on July 31 and have yet to use them. I'm going to put them to use by the end of the day October 9, 2015.

So, I could make more jokes about how I procrastinated about this thread, except that I'm REALLY getting annoyed with my procrastinating lately and I'm more angry than amused with myself.
There are a lot of projects and ideas I have that I'd like to do, and many of them really are time-consuming or would take a lot of work, so I consider them something to think about and aspire to, and whichever ones I can do, great.
But I'm talking about the little things that I put off, even though they're not hard to do, and that cause annoyance when they're not done on time.
There are certain things that I think about doing, and I can actually feel my mind pushing them away--like I'm actually turning my head away from that idea and I do something else instead. There's this vague, minor feeling of dread about them--EVEN WHEN THEY'RE NOT HARD TO DO--at least, not when they're done on time! I want to try to get in touch with what exactly I dread about these things, and see if I can find a pattern, and then figure out how to stop the avoidance.
One example is the invoice I make up for my main pet care client. I work for her every day, and I bill her by the number of hours at the end of each two week period, except for evening dog walks, which are charged my regular walk fee since I make a special trip there to do the dog walk. I always put off making up this invoice until my checking account is low and I need the money for a bill due. Then I sit down and make it up. Yes it's a little tedious, I have to look at a notebook for the hours I jot down every day, then look at the calendar for the walks I did, write everything up, add it up, subtract any money I owe her or she owes me for incidental items during the two week period, and come up with a total. But, I usually like detail work--I don't mind doing paperwork that other people find excruciatingly boring. I don't know what it is about this job that makes me put if off every single time. My client is difficult to work with, but she's not difficult when it comes to paying--she always pays as soon as I give her the invoice.
So my job is to tease out the reason why I put this off--obviously there's something about the invoice or the job or something that makes me turn away from it.
And do the same with the other things I put off doing.
And to that end, I will go back to trying to do at least one procrastinated item every week and not fall behind!
This week's item is, of course, to get that invoice in!

Hi dtesposito, thanks for coming back to this thread. I've been trying to bring someday projects into focus lately but you make a good point here: But I'm talking about the little things that I put off, even though they're not hard to do, and that cause annoyance when they're not done on time. And this sounds like so much of the mundane, micro-decision avoidance that can create all sorts of squalor and clutter. I can relate. There are certain things that I think about doing, and I can actually feel my mind pushing them away--like I'm actually turning my head away from that idea and I do something else instead. I'd like to join you here if I may. I can think of one thing right now, it's a bit of a project but will be a huge load off my mind if I get it done. I need to cancel my contract mobile phone service and switch over to some pay-as-you-go plan. I think anyway. All I really know for sure is that I have to change it somehow. It's way too expensive and I have put it off for too long.
