about the teeth and the clown... Well done to partner Drew getting out the pegboard! Now you've got a truck to help make things go away! That's huge! You really are working hard. I hope you're doing okay with your shoulder and the balance issue.

Still at it today. You can actually move in the room. . But there's a bunch still to do. Dragged a full black garbage bag to the door. I couldn't lift it. Surprise surprise. I keep forgetting my shoulder's screwed up. No help yet today from son or partner. I don't want to force them... but I sure do wish they'd just jump in and help without having to be asked. OK well, there's still time today.

So. I found a text book. Still in it's shrink wrap. It goes for about $250 new. I don't remember buying it, but.... probably did... way back before my husband's strokes. I will not be keeping it. But I'm trying to decide to just sell it on Amazon (I'll net about $12) or should I try selling it to a used book store? Or perhaps Ebay? I could potentially get $100 or more for it if I go that route, but it's more hassle.
Thoughts?

When preparing for guests, I go for what will make the most "visible" impact--cleared off surfaces (well, as many as possible, that is!), places for people to sit, clean bathrooms for them to use, and "Dish Mountain" vanquished.

For the book, try bookscouter.com. I've had excellent luck with selling textbooks that route! I got $88.80 for one book; however, most of the books that I sell to them bring in much less--in the $20.00 range, on average. However, usually, the more recent the textbook, the more money that one will get for it if it is in demand.

Bethel, if the book will net you as much as $100 I would give it a try to sell online. I am just going through my own books and my requirement is that they are listed and selling for $20 or more. That price I think makes it worth my time. Good job filling that garbage bag! Hope son and partner get some motivation going again. It sounded like they were helping yesterday.

Wheelllll.... Partner Drew is in a bad mood today. Frustration at the situation has kicked in. Can't really blame him. I am soldering on nevertheless. I have advised my son to stay away, though. Still working on the room. I think I'll be done by the end of the day. About six years ago a dear friend of mine, a buddhist monk who was loosing his home and had decided to embark on a journey of complete poverty gave me a few boxes of his possessions. One box was to store (long ago given back) and the rest was for me to keep. There are a LOT of amazing things ... too much to list. Anyhow, that stuff was helpfully tucked into the doom room. . Most has survived. Now my friend is in a better spot and has a stable roof over his head. So I'm putting together a box to give back to him. . Take THAT, you monk, you!!!!

Well there's some photos, a bunch of haiku books, a mala, a white silk scarf, and a picture of Buddha. My friend is a very well respected haiku writer, so... mostly it's haiku. It's not a huge box. But I'm sure he'll be very surprised to see this stuff again. Edited to add a link to some of my friend's haiku. sites.google.com/site/haikunorthwest/poems-by-members/karma-wangchuk

I dragged out two more black garbage bags. Taking a break now. I think I'll be done by midnight. I hope so, anyhow.

Well, I didn't do a lick of work after I posted yesterday. But I'm back at it today. Two old printers are in the give away pile. And a bathroom scale and a box of miscellaneous stuff. I can see lots of floor. I'm considering hauling the vacuum in now before the entire floor is clear, because there's some broken bits of a light bulb ground into the nasty old carpet. And I'm at a point where there's enough open floor I COULD vacuum some of it, then sit on the floor to sort the rest of the crap.
OK. Convinced myself. That's what I'll do. After that maybe my son and partner can haul the old bed over to the mobile. And we can wash the walls and get rid of the mold.

Well, I haven't updated this in a long time. The room is in stasis. I got some dizzy spells last summer, and just kind of moved on. And of course, ignored the Doom Room. Good news is it isn't worse. Bad news is everything is right where I left it. In the in-between time, I've kept up with budgeting, and lots of family stuff has happened. AND I haven't been in chat much due to the fact that my nearly-new hard drive died and I decided to move to using a Chromebook. Well, chat works on my phone but I get booted out if I do anything else on the phone while I am in chat. And it's a total PITA to type anything on that tiny keyboard! And, Chrome does not and will not support Java. So, no chatting from the computer. Oh well. I decided instead that I'd use this thread as my Chromebook chat. . Or maybe I should just start a chat thread? IS there a chat thread already?

Dear Bethel, I'm sorry you hurt your shoulder. I hope you will rest it and you won't do a lot of cleaning until it heals. Let your children do the cleaning and just try not to worry about the clutter right now. I just realized this was from last year! Bethel, is your shoulder alright now?
