Today, after work, this is the plan:
- Go to Wegman's and buy the groceries for my dinner party at River's
- Go home and pack for River's, including overnight items and work clothes for Friday
- Load and run the dishwasher
- Open all the mail that's piled up and face my bills / recycle the rest
- Clean the litter boxes & throw away old cat dishes and use paper dishes until their new ones arrive
- Stop at the dumpster on my way to River's and pitch my trash and recycling
I can do this. Easy peasy. Until tomorrow's list...

Well, I hate to say I failed already, but I ran out of time to do most of my list yesterday before I had to head to River's. But that's okay, I can do all of those things tonight. Yesterday's list:

Wound up nursing a series of migraines yesterday. *** period hormones, you will be the death of me! Sometimes I actually look forward to menopause. Needless to say, I didn't accomplish anything (other than basic cat care). I'm at work until 4pm. After that: - put gasoline in my car
- kitchen duty: clean counters, wash things too big for dishwasher, reload / run dishwasher, mop the floor
- inventory all food in house so that I stop ordering takeout and actually start eating food I make at home
- take a shower and use WaterPik
In the morning before work tomorrow:
- feed kitties
- scoop litter boxes
- take trash to dumpsters on the way to work

I'm so bummed because I lost this post originally. I guess it timed out, grr. Anyway, I redid it without as much beauty and flair, ha ha. Basically, it's just a way I divide up areas of my apartment for decluttering. Pretty self-explanatory, I guess. Where there's a numeral, it refers to a drawer or shelf in that piece of furniture. There will be a different list for actual cleaning, like vacuum, dust, mop, etc. But I didn't have one already... because I've never done those things voluntarily. After I declutter, I hope to do those cleaning tasks as part of regular maintenance. Sharky’s Declutter Zones Bedroom Chest of drawers: top, 1, 2, 3, 4 Jewelry box Closet: left hanging, right hanging, floor, shelf Dresser: top, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 Bedside table 1 Bedside table 2 Sweater cupboard Anything left on floor or under furniture Bathroom Vanity Inside vanity Tub ledge/towel rack Back of door hanging organizer Upstairs Hall Linen closet: 1,2,3,4,floor Filing cabinet: top, 1, 2

I'm trying to think of collections I have. As I've mentioned before, I tend to get into a hobby and then buy a million things for it, only to move on to the next thing. But I never get rid of the previous things. Books- cookbooks, particularly vegan cookbooks. I've never been vegan, but my ex was.
- poetry books. I have a BA in English and an MFA in creative writing with a concentration in poetry.
- sewing & fashion design books. Many, many, many. They're beautiful.
- how-to books about arts & crafts.
- coloring books. I have a gigantic collection of these for a 41 year old! But I do love to color.
- everything else: a wide assortment of everything from kids' books to novels to reference books.
Other Collections
- vintage cat-eye glasses. I bought them on eBay long before they came into style. They're lovely, but I haven't been displaying them, so do I really need them?
- vintage snapshots. Again, eBay. I used to buy large lots of black and white snapshots. Some of them are wonderful, but I doubt I need so many.
- fabric. Ay-yi-yi. So much *** fabric.
- sewing patterns. As I mentioned before, 10 long boxes of them.
- yarn. I haven't knit in years, but I have a ton of yarn.
- pens, markers, crayons, pastels, colored pencils, etc. More than any one person needs, definitely.
- journals, blank books, notebooks. I am a writer but I mostly write on computers now.
- zines and comics, plus magazines I've saved. More of the former than the latter, but they take up a ton of space and will I look at them again?
- decorative paper. I used to make books, but I don't really do that anymore. At least I can use the large paper to wrap presents, even though it's sort of a waste to use such nice paper for something that will be discarded.
- CDs, tapes, vinyl records. These are a conundrum because I mostly listen to music digitally now. But some of the things just aren't available in other formats. I can upload the CDs to Amazon Music, but not sure what to do with tapes and vinyl.
- games. I have a lot of board games and card games. Those are hard to get rid of because I really like games a lot, but I live alone, so I don't play any of them unless someone visits me.
- shoes, clothes, purses. Many I never wear because they're special occasion things, but they're beautiful and I love them. It's hard to know whether to get rid of them.

All right, today when I get home I'm really going to do some stuff. - 2 loads of laundry
- gather trash from all over the house & take it to the dumpster
- clean the cat dishes
- tidy the kitchen (load and run dishwasher, sweep)
- make a path through the living room chaos (still chaotic from the maintenance people putting stuff in the middle of the living room floor after the flood)
- take a shower before bed
And then tomorrow, I'm going to do this stuff.
- strip the bed and wash the sheets & duvet cover
- remake the bed in clean sheets
- tidy, dust, and vacuum the bedroom
I'll have a new list for the long weekend soon.

I don't deny this is ambitious. I'm probably going to need a lot of caffeine to keep myself going. But it will be worth it. 4 September (Friday evening) - begin dining room clean-up (complete list)
5 September (Saturday)
- finish dining room clean-up (complete list)
- take out trash & recycling
- take one load of Goodwill items
- get eyebrows threaded
- go to car maintenance appointment (11am)
- stop @ Chris's to pick veggies / figs
- complete bedroom list decluttering / cleaning
6 September (Sunday) - complete living room clean-up (part 1 - everything besides books)
- complete entryway clean-up
- complete upstairs hall clean-up
7 September (Monday) - complete living room clean-up (part 2 - books)
- complete kitchen clean-up

sharky, you've got quite an ambitious Labor Day Weekend list there to keep you busy too! P.S. Don't forget to pace yourself, stay hydrated, & try to squeeze something fun for yourself in there too!

I don't deny this is ambitious. I'm probably going to need a lot of caffeine to keep myself going. But it will be worth it. I wish I could have Scotty beam one of my special mugs to you. It's huge and says 20 MINUTE COFFEE BREAK I used to have it at work just to annoy the bosses. When it's full it's really too heavy to be comfortable. Having a big list can be good - if one task doesn't appeal to you there are lots more to choose from but I hope you fly through the whole list and still have a bit of energy at the end of each day.

Even with all the caffeine, I didn't accomplish everything on my list, but I am still really happy. You can read about it in Sharky's Coping Blog (private blogs) if you're interested in the details of how the weekend went. Still to-do, top priorities (would like to do before a week has lapsed)- clean out the student desk in the dining room Weekend
- get my computer set up in the dining room Weekend
- find a home for the other electronics on my computer desk Weekend
- organize my mail supply drawer in the living room Weekend
- clean my filthy, disgusting bathroom (including under the sink organization) Wednesday
- take out all the trash and recycling Wednesday
- take the giveaway stuff to Goodwill Wednesday
- clean off / out the filing cabinet and set up actual files Wednesday
- see if there's anything under the bed, and if so, deal with it Wednesday
- vacuum the whole apartment Wednesday
- distribute things I'm saving for Aunt Rita, Aunt Lisa, and Lee Weekend
- post office to mail packages to Tracy and Aunt Shelly Friday
Not urgent, but want to achieve as time allows
- book purge and reorganization of books I'm keeping
- go through vinyl LPs, cassettes, DVDs, etc.
- reorganize all the kitchen cabinets / freezer
- go through "linen closet" (where I keep toiletries, of which I have many)
- evaluation of my wardrobe (closets, dressers) with major purging
- go through my jewelry
- go through my snapshots collection
- rip the CDs to sell
- go through boxes of Mom-Mom's mementos

Let's see how I'm progressing in light of my last post in this thread. Still to-do, top priorities
clean out the student desk in the dining room
get my computer set up in the dining room
find a home for the other electronics on my computer desk
organize my mail supply drawer in the living room clean my filthy, disgusting bathroom (including under the sink organization)
take out all the trash and recycling
take the giveaway stuff to Goodwill clean off / out the filing cabinet and set up actual files
see if there's anything under the bed, and if so, deal with it
vacuum the whole apartment distribute things I'm saving for Aunt Rita, Aunt Lisa, and Lee post office to mail packages to Tracy and Aunt Shelly
Not urgent, but want to achieve as time allows
book purge and reorganization of books I'm keeping go through vinyl LPs, cassettes, DVDs, etc. reorganize all the kitchen cabinets / freezer go through "linen closet" (where I keep toiletries, of which I have many) evaluation of my wardrobe (closets, dressers) with major purging
go through my jewelry go through my snapshots collection rip the CDs to sell go through boxes of Mom-Mom's mementos Maybe that doesn't look like I accomplished a lot, but the wardrobe purge was a major undertaking. Of course I procrastinated things that involved interacting with other people - going to Goodwill, seeing family, going to the post office. And the loud thing: I hate vacuuming because of the noise. (My cats agree.) My car is filled with Goodwill donations, so I'll drop those off on my way home from work. The mail drawer and under the bathroom sink will take a few minutes each, so I'll do those tonight. I am really itching to start on books, but I'm probably better off organizing the kitchen cupboards and freezer tonight. This will make me aware of what food I have, and less likely to get food delivered. Then I can start books tomorrow night. Sharky
