Thank you RoadRunner - Fri went better than Thursday did. 2 loads of laundry done, Front of apt cleaned except mopping kitchen floor. And I had time to crochet and exercise. On Saturday, I need to finish up the back of the apt. I may or may not go out to grocery store. I don't really need anything there, unless I buy Christmas cake ingredients. I could go to other stores in the plaza and pick up 'add-on' gift items, but I don't have to do that today. Yesterday I ended up doing very little. I felt a bit congested in the AM. Then I went out for groceries plus made stops in 4 other stores in that plaza. Got all of my Christmas shopping finished - except for myself. With ds ddil and I we now buy our own gifts. In the grocery store I noted my back really starting to bother me. By the time I got home it was quite bad, and I had trouble even getting things up from the car. Meanwhile my AM congested has turned into a cold, and is making me feel quite dragged out. Colds don't usually zap my energy, but I was feeling totally drained. And so once home I did nothing more. I didn't feel like eating much either, although I managed to go over calories - just too much bread. I did note that most things on my list were repeated again this upcoming week, so as of today, Sunday, they are removed and I will start over. The only things remaining will be things not repeating this week. I will most likely cancel tea with my neighbor as I certainly do not want to give her this cold, although I will send over a plate of goodies for her. Thanks RoadRunner . I still don't feel well today. Very little got done here yesterday. I didn't even realize until evening that I hadn't even made my bed. And I have no energy at all. The main thing I need to try to do today is to get out for more cold capsules. But just that is a whole hassle. Today is cleaning the 'kids' rooms' which for me is my spare room. It's on the list, but I don't know if I will get there today or not. Last week I was reading some of The Confident Mom's Quick Tips, about breaking big jobs down. In my spare room I have 3 large bookcases - 2 have 5 shelves each, and the middle one has a TV section in the middle with closed cabinets above and below. And some shelves are hard to get to because I have put my 2 large arm chairs from the LR in there now. Anyway, last week it occurred to me that if I did a good cleaning on ONE shelf each week while cleaning in there, (that's removing the books and/ or knickknacks and doing a decent clean of everything) that it would not take long and keep it from getting totally horrible by trying to do it all at once some day. (And slowly I am reading through the books, and getting rid of them, so spaces are opening up.) I may not get to doing a shelf today, but it's certainly planned for the future. This cold is still lingering on, and I have no energy for anything. I keep adding to the general list, hopig that by week's end I might get some of it done. My mind is not clear. I notice yesterday I didn't get the date changed. Yesterday AM I got my dishes caught up before 9 AM, showered, and filled the water containers that I normally do. Around 10 I used the washroom, and as I usually do, I tried the tap to see if the water was off, so I will know if I can flush or not. Water was not off. At 12 I noted water was not off. Its rare to only be off for minutes, and there was no air in the pipes, so I wondered if I had gotten it wrong. Yup, when I went down to check mail about 5 PM I saw the notice in the elevator saying water will be off Wed. not Tues as I had thought. The fact that I read 2 short notices (re water shut-off and building info session) and could not get one of them right in my head shows me how incapacitated I am right now. So no laundry Wed either - IF I ever felt up to it. I might need to walk to the corner for bread and milk. I hope it's not too too cold out. So today IS water shut-off, and a meeting I hope to attend at 6. I'd prefer to not go to the meeting, but I wont have anyway to catch this info otherwise. (Some times I don't correctly catch what the supers are saying (language barrier) plus the only ones on my floor that will likely go to the meeting tend to misunderstand everything. (As in old man tried arguing with me that only 1 of the 2 underground parking garages is actually underground. We live on a hill - 1 side of it (entrance) is at street level, but other side it's underground, and had a lawn area on top of it, so it IS underground. He assumed that garage repair would only be for the 'underground' one, so why was he losing a parking spot, for which they have no car!!!!) So I will muddle through today as best I can. Thursday December 14/ 17 I THINK I am feeling SLIGHTLY better - but it is still very early. Last PM I was even able to tidy up a tiny bit. But the length of the previous undone lists is depressing. And because The Confident Mom repeats everything frequently, and because I was in pretty good shape before I got sick, I am just going to delete the undone chores for this week, and TRY to start at today's tasks and work on from there. Of course the ongoing projects will remain. However, while I have been 'out of commission' and therefore biding too much time on the internet, I have finally come to the realization that I am definitely a DYT Type 2 - which it seems for some reason I kept trying to deny, and make myself a Type 4 instead. That only affects this list in regards to the several tasks of sorting out my closet, make-up and jewelry. This has all been in limbo over the past few weeks as I kept going back and forth in my thinking - so now I am prepared to do the final sort as a Type 2. In addition, the issue of fixing buttons and dry-cleaning coats were all on Type 4 coats. I'm removing them from this list for now, since they are not important right now. 1 thing I still need to do is buy my own Christmas gift - which may just likely be a Type 2 coat, since I only have 1 and I don't like it. (Someone else bought it for me.) So finishing up Christmas takes priority over repairing coats that I may not be wearing again. Friday December 15/ 17 Well, as posted (edited Dones) above, I still did not get much done yesterday. I have been trying to do most of my dailies - except exercising and crocheting. V E R Y S L O W L Y I am getting my energy back. What I have noticed is that by just doing the dailies, my apt is not too bad. One thing I HAVE to do is vac around the bird cage daily, to prevent all of the chaff from their seeds from spreading, and again, someone (or more than 1) is molting right now. I know Buddy is because lots of the little feathers contain green. I used to use the stick vac for this daily vac, but it didn't always pick up the heavier dropped seeds, plus created dust too when I emptied it, which needed to be at least weekly. For the past 10 days or so I have used the canister vac with a bag only, meaning everything I vac is enclosed, and I THINK there is less dust around now. Anyway, after constantly reviewing the routine by My Confident Mom, which I think is an excellent plan for busier households, but seeing this week that NOT doing anything except dailies because of illness, and my place does not look bad (if I spent a few extra minutes tidying), I think for me, here, it might be a bit of over-kill. So once again I am changing my plan - to go to a 10 day cycle. I think that would work better for me and my house. (If it doesn't work I will definitely go back to The Confident Mom.) At this point I am also not really worried about catching up. (This week, although feeling really bad, has been educational as well.) My latest plan cleans 1 (out of 5) rooms or areas, every other day. The days in-between are for groceries and errands and laundry and paperwork. And since today is the 15th, I have a full 10 day run to go between now and Christmas. I decided to make my cleaning days on the even days, which then leaves the 25th free of chores. I also chose my grocery and errand days to co-incide best with pre-Christmas shopping (I hope). However, because I have been laid up this week, I am behind on a few errands, which I hope to catch up on next week. The other thing too is that if, for some reason I need to change an activity for 1 day, I just switch it with the day ahead or behind without need for a major overhaul. Today is down for paperwork - and that is good. However, because of being ill, I have done NO laundry this week, and I need to do some, especially sheets and towels - and clothes if I have enough for loads, and the energy to keep running down to the laundry room. Laundry is 'catch up' - today could have been a laundry day on a previous plan. But if I can get on to it today, it will get me ahead so I can catch up on extra errands next week. Of the 5 none-room days (odd days) I have 2 for laundry and 2 for groceries and errands, and 1 for paperwork. This up-coming week, 10 days, could have lots of switching - but that is mainly because I have been ill, and because I still need to do a few pre-Christmas things. I tend to get discouraged when I have to fit in a lot of changes, so I hope I give myself that allowance now. At present I plan to go out to the cemetery Sat. with ds and dgs and hopefully by Monday I can get out for some shopping. Once Christmas is over, I am hoping I can put this plan to the real test - but right now the plan is to just keep up on the apt without overdoing it. I also still intend to keep at the weekly projects. And regarding the 10 day plan, I will obviously hit every room 3 times a month, so I am thinking that on each of the 3 rounds I will concentrate on a different 'monthly' focus - such as 1st round extra linens and furniture care, 2nd extra attention to dusting and windexing, and 3rd round extra attention to floors. I still need to work on that idea. Meanwhile, I will still continue with my OMM pre-Christmas list, with maybe new additions. List for Friday December 15, 2017 (Day 5) = started = finished DAILY: Dishes, caught up at least once during day 1 bag garbage out Make bed fresh sheets Vac around bird cage and entrance Bird care Self care Sort mail/ paperwork/ emails Exercise Quiet time/ craft - crochet blanket Evening 10 minute tidy OTHER: Swish and swipe bathrooms - Days 6 8 10 Water plants - Day 7 Clean bird cage - Day 8 Laundry - Day 9 Groceries and Errands - Day 7 WEEKLY: FRIDAY Dec 15/17 (Day 5) PAPERWORK Pay bills Record in Quicken Record in Budget Book File Shred Collect loose papers and sort File or toss papers as needed CATCH - UP: LAUNDRY Strip bed, change sheets Launder sheets Launder towels Launder clothing as needed Put away all laundry Put away laundry supplies OMM: PROJECTS: Find Christmas towels (maybe) Plan pre-Christmas cemetery visit - Sat. with ds and dgs? Saturday December 16, 2017 I'm still sick, but slightly better. I might be going out to the (out of town) cemetery today with ds and dgs, weather permitting. It's also the day to work on the spare room. Yesterday I ended up doing 4 loads of laundry, but some did not get put away because it needed to finish drying. Laundry was a catch-up chore, even though the current 10 day plan was brand new. In reality it should have been a paperwork day - which did not get done. Sunday December 17, 2017 Yesterday turned out to be a pretty good day. In the AM ds dgs and I went out to the cemetery. So now my pre-Christmas visit is done. The lanes in there were not cleared of snow, so no plans to go out again until spring. In the afternoon I assessed my 10 day plan compared to what I wanted to do this week. I still need 2 more days for errands and groceries. Sunday is that on my plan, but I don't want to go out Sun, so I will swap it with Monday. Monday was 'clean my bedroom' day. What I ended up doing was cleaning the spare room (Sat's task) AND the bedroom (Monday's task.) So now I am ahead. Monday I can go out for my errands - and Sunday is free to really work on this crocheting while I watch some Christmas movies. Even though I'm still not feeling 100%, it was easy enough to get a bit ahead on this plan. I also decided that there is no urgency to sort out papers or makeup etc between now and Christmas. I can do any that I need as I go, but any extras in the spare room wont matter at this point. So that part is on hold until after Christmas. It'd be nice to have it done, but other things are more important. Monday December 18, 2017 Not much progress in yesterday's list. I didn't even finish the dailies. I lacked energy, so maybe I was recovering from doing too much on Sat. But I did get in a couple of hours of crocheting in the evening, although that does not translate to much on the blanket. I did re-adjust my 10 day plan so that my shopping days were more regular and more related to having things fresher for Christmas and New Years. It switched around grocery and laundry days, meaning yesterday should have been a laundry day on the new version - but everything right now is pretty caught up, and it might give me an extra shopping day, because I am not changing the plans for today now. I feel like my bits of shopping are all over the place, so maybe an extra day will be good - or I wont need it and I can rest. Since my plans are to have something here over New Years, I won't need so much this week, although I want to discuss New Years with my ds more before I make final plans. Anyway, my list for today is much like yesterday's. Plans are mostly shopping and then crocheting. Hi hollyhock! Sorry you've been feeling short of energy! Be sure to take some rest between your more-things-to-accomplish days. You need to give your body time to heal and restore! So glad you are going steadily towards your holiday goals though.

Thanks Nael_C . I still am not feeling terribly well. Then I realized that these colds/ viruses, whatever, usually take about 2 weeks to run their course, and today I am now at Day 9. I just hope I am mostly over it by Christmas. I did try to go out shopping yesterday. I outlined the whole scenario in my blog, but when I went to go out, I found my car battery dead. I took it as a signal to stay home and get better. Then I ran another convoluted thought path re HOW to keep my car battery from dying in the winter (take the car out more) with the potential plan to restart waterfit 3 times a week, once I feel better, but most likely after the New Year due also to the pool being closed for the holidays. So maybe go back around Jan 3 - I should be better by then too. That thinking then made me come back to a change in weekly plans, because waterfit tends to exhaust me, so a tiny bit each day. So although I liked the 10 day plan, it may not work with my waterfit schedule - I want something more predictable. I am also hoping that going to waterfit won't interfere with my weekly deep cleaning projects - but I won't know until I try. I also am not sure if I will go 2 or 3 times a week. I'll see. When I used to go I often stopped at a small grocery store on the way home and so picked up a few groceries each time, so didn't need big grocery trips any more. I will see - but for now I am going to go back to a weekly plan and get it going before I go back to waterfit. So right now the posted plans will be a combo of the old trying to change over to the new. (And my errands are on hold until I feel better, and then get the car going gain.)
