I didn't get a lot done yesterday. After coming home from a nice visit as ds' I kind of just took the rest of the day off. And really, to me, that is what Sundays are all about. I am revamping my lists slightly. Some weeklies are becoming dailies, meaning there will be less to do in the weekly realm. I had noticed a couple of problem areas, so I am working on them. I generally tend to do more here (inside) on Mon and Tues, laundry is Tues and Thurs, and late afternoon seems to be the best time in the laundry room, and so Wed and Fri are for outside things. Sat and Sun I do quieter activities. Deep cleaning seems to be working so it is staying the same. DAILY: Catch up dishes Scrub kitchen counters, sink, stove Make bed Tidy, dust bedroom, hall Tidy, dust LR, DR, Entrance Tidy, dust bird room Dust mop bedroom, hall Dust mop LR, DR Vac bird room Vac kitchen, entrance Mop kitchen, entrance Exercise Self Care Swish and swipe bathroom Quiet time for reading, crafts Digital declutter time Weekly task 1 Deep cleaning task Deal with mail, papers Fresh seed and water to birds Log in calories, exercise in MyFitnessPal Wash dishes after supper Change tea towels Toss garbage WEEKLIES: MONDAY Clear out fridge, wipe down any spills Clean out microwave, Foreman grill as needed Wipe down appliances, cabinet fronts, as needed Restock kitchen supplies Gather all loose papers Sort papers Pay bills Update budget book, Quicken File bills File or toss papers Fill out forms Prepare, mail necessary items Shred papers as needed LEFT OVER: From SUNDAY Tidy, sweep balcony Water plants Deadhead plants Take compost to outside bin Pamper me DEEP CLEANING: ZONE 3 (21st – 30th) – KITCHEN, BATHROOM, ENTRANCE, STORAGE CLOSETS - wipe down ceiling fan - wash shelves of remaining upper cabinets 4 5 6 7 8 - wash out drawers 1 2 3 4 LEFTOVER: ZONE 2 (11th - 20th) - BEDROOM, SPARE ROOM, HALL, CLOTHES, PAPERS: Dry clean anything needing it OUTSTANDING PAPERWORK Prepare letter for tax office - print out necessary inclusions - write letter - mail Fill out other form Pay parking ticket IN ADDITION: (any time) Pack up extra knickknacks on DR table Move baskets of papers into bird room Cut back geraniums Start crochet blanket

Tomorrow should be my errand day, but it sounds like we may be getting lots of wind and rain then as an aftermath of Patricia. So I may do errands today. I am going to post both lists since I may do some of each, and then the rest tomorrow. I stopped yesterday when I started feeling unwell, so did not get things finished. I had started a couple of deep cleaning things, but had to finish them this morning. This list does not seem to be getting any smaller. My main focus has been on the daily stuff and some of the deep cleaning stuff. I now have 3 days left on this zone for this month, or 4 if you count the 31st. I am getting there but I still have a few other hot spots to get through too. I like to concentrate on floors in Nov, so that in Dec I just need to think about Christmas, without having a lot of cleaning to do too. Last PM, a bit late, I finally emptied the last 3 kitchen cabinets and washed them down. But all of the dishes are still out. I am not climbing up on step stools when it's late and I am tired, especially handling good china - that is just asking for trouble. So they all have to go back today. I slept sporadically - I normally do but last night was worse than usual. But I awoke this AM to heavy rains, so I am glad that I got errands out of the way yesterday. Maybe I can make some inside headway today, and start getting some of the extras done, although I still need to do the kitchen drawers too. Today may just be a mish-mash of stuff. There is an event I want to attend this AM. And I slept in late, for me. I should get groceries today but I am trying to hold off. My friend may be coming on Mon., so I'd prefer to buy stuff closer to then. And my 10 days in this zone are over tomorrow. I want to do a scrub down of the shower walls, and a good 'on hands and knees' washing of the kitchen floor. I got very little done yesterday. First I attended an event that I have wanted to go to for years - an annual flower show. I really enjoyed it. Then in the afternoon I got groceries in. By the time I got home I was tired and didn't do much else - and my house looks it! My son is coming here today, probably this AM. He is helping me set up a new to me laptop, plus some other things. So I'd like the house being a bit tidier than it is now, when he gets here. Plus on Mon I may be having an overnight guest, so I need to clean up for that. Today I need to cook some things ahead, and then hopefully just catch up on my list. I do not want to start any new projects until after my guest leaves on Tues. In the meantime I just want to maintain once it is clean - then next week I am going to implement a new idea. DAILY: Self Care Swish and swipe bathroom Catch up dishes Scrub kitchen counters, sink, stove Make bed Tidy, dust bedroom, hall Dust mop bedroom, hall Tidy, dust bird room Vac bird room Fresh seed and water to birds Tidy, dust LR, DR, Entrance Dust mop LR, DR Vac kitchen, entrance Mop kitchen, entrance Quiet time for reading, crafts Digital declutter time Weekly task 1 Deep cleaning task Deal with mail, papers Exercise Log in calories, exercise in MyFitnessPal Wash dishes after supper Change tea towels Toss garbage WEEKLIES: SATURDAY: Cook ahead - chicken - soup using spinach - banana bread ADD - cook ahead mashed potatoes and fresh green beans Clean out fridge Clean up kitchen after cooking THINGS TO CATCH UP: LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM, ENTRANCE, CLOTHES CARE - put away any extra items - clean glass surfaces LR, DR - vac couch, chairs Water plants Shred papers as needed Tidy, sweep balcony Deadhead plants Take compost to outside bin DEEP CLEANING: ZONE 3 (21st – 30th) – KITCHEN, BATHROOM, ENTRANCE, STORAGE CLOSETS KITCHEN - good wash of kitchen floor, by hand BATHROOM - scrub down shower tiles LEFTOVER: ZONE 2 (11th - 20th) - BEDROOM, SPARE ROOM, HALL, CLOTHES, PAPERS: Dry clean anything needing it OUTSTANDING PAPERWORK Prepare letter for tax office - print out necessary inclusions - write letter - mail Fill out other form IN ADDITION: (any time) Cut back geraniums Start rooting cuttings Start crochet blanket Attachments:

Today is going to be a jumble of things. I did not bake my banana bread last PM - I was too tired to safely run the oven. Too much risk of falling asleep. So I need to do that today. And then once that is done I still have a huge mess of dirty dishes from cooking yesterday, to clean up. I am also expecting my friend to visit, overnight, on Mon. She says she hopes to arrive around noon, but considering her last 2 visits and my recollections of how things went when we were close friends 40 years ago, I know sometimes her good intentions are outweighed by her being a bit scattered, trying to do too many things, and subsequent lateness. And since my visit is on her way to go to her condo in Florida, requiring her to meet someone Tuesday, I am not too positive that she will even make it here - so my plan, as usual, is to be prepared for anything. And I am also not going out of my way - just readjusting times. I have revised my weekly plans to have 3 days at home to clean, and 3 days for 'outside stuff' - errands, groceries, other activities, plus laundry and paperwork. I plan to alternate, but the schedule is flexible. Mon. is a cleaning day - scrubbing kitchen and bathroom, but I would like that done ahead of any potential visits, so I plan to do that today. Then Mon AM I do bare minimum, I may need to run to the store for 1 or 2 things, but then I intend to just sit and relax and see what happens. Now that we are starting November, I now move into the first 10 days of the next zone for deep cleaning. My November plans are mainly related to doing a good cleaning of all floors and baseboards. The new zone is the LR DR balcony, storage locker, and car. I have a few outdoor things to still do on the balcony but I am not starting anything until after D's visit. I also need to clean up, sort out, rearrange my storage locker, in prep for getting things out for Christmas and assess what I can donate. I will also need to make room to store my patio cushions in there. I still have several things left to finish up from Oct. so they are still on my list too. I am hoping that by the end of the week they will be caught up. Unfortunately I slept very poorly last night which seems to be my norm, waking up way too early, and then add the time change to that and today may be hard to get through, or require a nap. Anyway, here are the plans for today: DAILIES Catch up dishes Scrub kitchen counters, sink, stove Make bed Self Care Fresh seed and water to birds Swish and swipe bathroom Quiet time for reading, crafts, watch TV Digital declutter time Deal with mail, papers Log in calories, exercise in MyFitnessPal Wash dishes after supper Change tea towels Toss garbage Tidy through before bed WEEKLIES: SUNDAY TIDY THROUGH Clean up cooking dishes BALCONY/ PLANTS Water Deadhead, fertilize as needed Tidy/ sweep balcony Compost to outside bins ME Pamper – bubble bath, facial, manicure, pedicure CLOTHES Prepare clothes and items for week ahead DO AHEAD MONDAY'S TASKS: TIDY THROUGH Empty vacs SCRUB KITCHEN, ENTRANCE Restock kitchen supplies Scrub sinks, counters, stove Clear out fridge, wipe down any spills Clean microwave, Foreman grill, toaster as needed Wipe down appliances, cabinet fronts Vac floors kitchen, entrance Wash floors kitchen, entrance BATHROOM Scrub bathroom sink Scrub bathtub Scrub toilet Vac floor bathroom Wash floor bathroom. hollyhock: I don't mean this as a criticism of you--truly!!, but if it takes **THIS MUCH DAILY CLEANING** to maintain an apartment, where one person lives, who is not working outside the home, etc.--there **IS NO HOPE FOR ME!!!**
I find your lists to be very intimidating and discouraging . . .
Having said that, though, I do see that I do accomplish several of the same "chores" every day, but I'm lucky if I do some of the other ones ONCE A YEAR!!
Sigh . . .
If I did even half as much as you do in a day's time, I would think that my place was IMMACULATE!!

Thankfully I slept well last night. I was really dragging yesterday. I am almost caught up on dishes. Last PM I collected all of the garbage, and tossed it down the chute, and then vacuumed through. And just now I washed the 3 floors. Last week I bought myself the Vileda ProMist mop, and so far I really like it. It makes mopping so easy! My guest messaged me that she hope to be here around noon, so before then I still want to dust through, finish dishes and clean the bathroom. Since I only have 1 bed, I let her use it so I will change the sheets, and then remove my stuff for the next 24 hours, to other locations. I will sleep on the couch - since my sleep is so erratic and I get up too early. Then I will shower and dress and I'm all ready, including having food available unless we want to go out. Anything else on my list can wait until after she leaves, which she plans to do Tues AM. DAILIES Catch up dishes Scrub kitchen counters, sink, stove Make bed - changed sheets Self Care Fresh seed and water to birds Swish and swipe bathroom Quiet time for reading, crafts, watch TV Digital declutter time Deal with mail, papers Log in calories, exercise in MyFitnessPal Wash dishes after supper Change tea towels Toss garbage Tidy through before bed WEEKLIES: MONDAY: SCRUB KITCHEN, ENTRANCE Wipe down appliances, cabinet fronts Wash floors kitchen, entrance BATHROOM Scrub bathroom sink Scrub bathtub Scrub toilet Wash floor bathroom. My guest has come and gone. It's been so nice reviving a friendship after a 40 year intermission. Sadly she is now on her way to her condo in Florida, and won't be back up here until possibly Feb or March. Some time in the distant future (not this year) I may go down there to visit. As a side note, I served her my newest soup with spinach and orzo pasta, as a beginning to supper - but we both liked it so well, and it was so filling, that we both had 2 bowls, and were full. We didn't even have any rolls with it. (The pasta had absorbed all of the broth, so it was all solid, but soooo good. I had some banana bread later - she was too full to eat more. So it was a real hit. So now that that is past, I can get back to basics here. I worked a bit ahead of the game before her visit, so now it is time to catch up on the things I was delaying until she had gone. In other words, catch up time. I also need to sit down now, and evaluate my plans for November. Today is laundry day - and personal errands. I don't think I need to go out for any errands today. Its also about paperwork. So onwards: DAILIES Catch up dishes Scrub kitchen counters, sink, stove Make bed Self Care Fresh seed and water to birds Swish and swipe bathroom Quiet time for reading, crafts, watch TV Digital declutter time Deal with mail, papers Log in calories, exercise in MyFitnessPal figured out calorie counts for some homemade recipes Wash dishes after supper Change tea towels Toss garbage Tidy through before bed WEEKLIES: TUESDAY: LINENS Launder linens Put away when done PERSONAL ERRANDS Put away any items or paperwork from errands None needed today PAPERWORK Gather all loose papers Sort papers Pay bills Update budget book, Quicken File bills No bills this week File or toss papers Fill out forms Prepare, mail necessary items Shred papers as needed ADD: Figure out specific Nov goals LEFTOVER: SUNDAY BALCONY/ PLANTS Water Deadhead, fertilize as needed Tidy/ sweep balcony Compost to outside bins THINGS TO CATCH UP: DEEP CLEANING: NOVEMBER FOCUS: Floors and Baseboards License sticker Prepare balcony, plants for winter Rearrange locker, check for donations Be prepared for Christmas decorating next month Work on at least 1 handmade gift Visit cemetery, put winter/ Christmas saddle on my parents' headstone ZONE 1 (1st – 10th) – LR, DR, BALCONY, LOCKER, CAR LEFTOVER from Oct: ZONE 3 (21st – 30th) – KITCHEN, BATHROOM, ENTRANCE, STORAGE CLOSETS KITCHEN - good wash of kitchen floor, by hand BATHROOM - scrub down shower tiles LEFTOVER: ZONE 2 (11th - 20th) - BEDROOM, SPARE ROOM, HALL, CLOTHES, PAPERS: Dry clean anything needing it OUTSTANDING PAPERWORK Prepare letter for tax office - print out necessary inclusions - write letter - mail Fill out other form IN ADDITION: (any time) Cut back geraniums Start rooting cuttings Start crochet blanket

I am finding that I am super tired this week. I tend to get up way too early - so with putting the clocks back an hour it is even earlier when I am waking up now. I seem to have no energy at all this week. I do have to get out this week to get my license sticker, but I almost feel too tired to go any where. I wanted to do it today - but woke up feeling horrid, so it will most likely happen tomorrow. Right now it is foggy, grey and drizzly out. I readjusted my zone weeks, but am keeping to the 10 day rotation. I just feel like paperwork, which is linked to the bedroom and bird room zone, needs to happen at the beginning of the month. So it is switched around as of today. I have a few things to get out of the way - including that sticker. Today's weeklies are dusting and windexing. I did them all on Monday, but dust shows up here so quickly on the dark wood furniture, especially when the sun shines in brightly. It must blow in off of the busy intersection below. I'm surprised how dirty the windows and balcony get too. So I am going to dust again with a microfiber cloth - and then monitor how long it takes to show again. (Of course it doesn't show much on grey days.) But I will delete the windexing part from today's list as it's not too bad. So for today/ this week: DAILIES Catch up dishes Scrub kitchen counters, sink, stove Make bed Self Care Fresh seed and water to birds Swish and swipe bathroom Quiet time for reading, crafts, watch TV Digital declutter time Deal with mail, papers Log in calories, exercise in MyFitnessPal Wash dishes after supper Change tea towels Toss garbage Tidy through before bed WEEKLIES: WEDNESDAY: TIDY THROUGH BIRDS Clean cage Dust bird room Vac bird room Wash bird dishes, toys DUST Bedroom Hall LR DR Entrance Kitchen PHONE CALLS EXERCISE WEEKLY LEFTOVERS: From TUESDAY: LINENS Put away once laundered PERSONAL ERRANDS License sticker, Health card PAPERWORK Update budget book, Quicken File or toss papers Fill out forms Prepare, mail necessary items Shred papers as needed From SUNDAY BALCONY/ PLANTS Tidy/ sweep balcony Compost to outside bins DEEP CLEANING AND PROJECTS: ZONE 1 (1st - 10th) - BEDROOM, SPARE ROOM, HALL, CLOTHES, PAPERS: BEDROOM: Wash baseboards 1 2 3 4 Clear under bed Wash hardwood floor Change to winter bed linens SPARE (BIRD) ROOM: Wipe down wall around cage Wash baseboards 1 2 3 4 Wash hardwood floor HALL: Wash baseboards 1 2 Wash hardwood floor CLOTHES: Set up 3 'cores of 4' (black, navy, grey) Try on all fall, winter pants to see what fits Sort scarves into seasons Sort necklaces, earrings, if time Dry clean jackets - fall Dry clean jackets - winter PAPERS: Prepare letter for tax office - print out necessary inclusions - write letter - mail Fill out other form THINGS TO DO IN NOVEMBER, CHRISTMAS PREP: Wash floors and baseboards through apt License sticker, Health card Cut back geraniums Start rooting cuttings Plant spring bulbs Work on at least 1 handmade gift (start crochet blanket) Rearrange locker, check for donations, find Christmas saddle Visit cemetery, put winter/ Christmas saddle on my parents' headstone Bring in patio cushions, put in locker Arrange for snow tires to be put on

Hi everyone. I wrote an updating post on my blog, and here I am going to restart my lists - and hopefully keep them at a manageable length. Since it is Friday, my main weekly cleaning tasks are to clean my bedroom and the spare room/ bird room. I did a good clean on the bird cage last PM because the birds spilt (?) a lot of water on their cage bottom - this has started being a real problem with them. So that part of today's tasks is already done - unless they do a repeat performance. I also noted in my blog that one of my main issues is finishing tasks. And that my lists tend to get way too long, because I am always trying to backtrack. Well today's list will not be an exception - dishes to catch up on, as well as some paperwork, plus I still have some laundry and groceries to finish putting away. I really need to work on that! Tomorrow my friend B and I are going on a Garden Tour near here. I am so excited! Our city is divided into 'neighbourhoods' and it seems my apartment is in the neighbourhood often defined as the old elite neighbourhood - some huge mansions built by our first city developers and mayors, etc. Sadly many have been torn down too to make way for apartment buildings - and parking lots, etc. My own building is on a site of a former huge mansion that even entertained royalty. But many of these fine old homes still remain, and are owned by affluent families, and every few years they put on a tour of their gardens - tomorrow being one. I can't wait!!!! So B and I are joining a group who are doing this tour together - starting at 10 AM tomorrow, viewing 12 gardens. One of the places on it is a heritage house 2 blocks from me, and I think we will probably end there. Also there they are serving tea and being entertained by the local Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. So, most likely B and I will return here for some lunch afterwards. I want to make something ahead for that. So most work here today will be in prep for her visit tomorrow. I have bought several plants for my balcony, plus I am trying a few vegetables this year. These all need to be repotted - so I want to try to at least get some of these into bigger pots so they won't dry out so quickly. I don't know if I should try to do those today too. (I have put down Sunday as my day to work on my plants and balcony.) So for today: ME: Weigh and record Exercise: - walk 2 miles - something else Shower, dress, makeup Log meals into MyFitnessPal Read Bible DAILY: Kitchen dishes, counter, stove top Make bed Bird care Bathroom swish and swipe Toss garbage WEEKLY: Bedroom - tidy - dust - vacuum Spare Room - tidy - dust - vacuum MONTHLY TASK (for the 17th) (if I have time (may wait until next month) Tidy/ reorganize linen closet Tidy/ reorganize broom closet Launder extra linens - put away CATCH UP PROCRASTINATED TASKS: Catch up dishes Put away remaining groceries Put away remaining laundry Pay bills Repot some plants DO AHEAD: Make something for lunch tomorrow.

Yes, indeed, hollyhock--welcome back!!
I *LOVE* things like the garden tour that you have described. I especially like it when one can tour the inside of those lovely old mansions!!
By the way, the spinach-orzo soup that you described on Nov. 3, 2015, sounds WONDERFUL!! (I have a "dry mouth;" so, I eat a soup often.)
