That's an interesting point daye. I wonder how many of us have sleep problems, it seems like quite a few on here.
Interesting survey Alex, it has made me think through some things I hadn't thought about and it was a nice reminder too how much I have changed.

Alex, I just wanted to let you and people on this forum know that agreeing to participate in the second phase of this study is one of the scariest things I've done in a long time. It's also turning out to be one of the best things I've done in a long time. It's causing me to look at my possessions in a different light. It's making it easier to let things go. It's given me renewed hope and energy to continue on my journey. (Alex, I hope that what I post here doesn't skew your research, I just wanted people to consider signing up. It is for a good cause.) Ally If anyone has any questions about the second phase of the study, feel free to PM me. I was literally shaking I was so scared, (Scared of what? Answering a few questions?Really?) but I got through the first few steps and feel like I'm stronger for it. (I'm not done yet, still a few more steps to go, but I'm actually looking forward to the next steps.)

That's great Ally, I'm really pleased that taking part has been a positive experience for you. I hope that the other people who take part feel that way too! I'm more than happy for you to post about your experiences with the research, and to field questions about it from people. It's an open process that I'm happy to for anyone to discuss and find out about - whether that's through you or me.

Hi Creativechaos. It's not too late to join - there is still another month or so for people to make up their minds if they would like to take part.
If you haven't already completed the survey then you can do that by following the link above. If you have already completed it and are thinking about taking part in the second phase of the study then please send me an email at gy10ajm@leeds.ac.uk and I can send you some more information about it.
Thanks for taking an interest!

This has been posted with admin approval.
Hello, My name is Alex Miller, a PhD researcher from the University of Leeds, and I’d like to invite you to take part in an online questionnaire as part of my research study on the everyday lives of people who are hoarders. The research will look at the experiences and practices of people who hoard. It will explore how hoarders think about their homes, and how they think about and relate to objects. This research is trying to find out more about the everyday reality of life as a hoarder and comes from a social sciences perspective. The questionnaire is hosted on a secure site and all your answers will be kept anonymous. There are 10 open-ended questions which ask you to write about your life and your experiences. It should take around an hour for you to complete. You can save and come back to the questionnaire at any time. Your answers will only be read by me and my academic supervisors. The data will not be passed to any third parties. Anonymised extracts may be presented in my PhD or in publications in academic journals. This questionnaire is the first phase of my research. After completing the questionnaire you will be given some information about the second phase, which you are also invited to take part it. This is more in-depth and involves two or three interviews and a video project. Together this study will form the basis of my PhD and will also be published in academic journals. I will also look to use the information to help hoarding support charities by informing them of my findings. If you have any questions about the research, or would like to know more, please either post your query in the comments below or email me at: gy10ajm@leeds.ac.uk If you want to take part in the survey please follow the link below: Thank you,
Alex Miller PhD Researcher School of Geography University of Leeds Leeds LS2 9JT Email: gy10ajm@leeds.ac.uk

Alex I'm in West Yorkshire and work in Leeds. My issue is squalor rather than hoarding - do you know of anyone doing research into the causes of squalor? I suspect mine may be linked to my Complex PTSD.
Would be happy to participate in your research if you would find some data from a squalor bod who does not hoard helpful.
Kind Regards
Meezie

meezursrule, I don't think Alex will get your note just by posting here. You would probably have more luck by emailing him directly at his email address posted above.

Hi Meezie,
