yay you, BetsyMarie! great work on the recycle! I'm glad you are already seeing results! Unswamping; so glad the water came back and you got dishes done - plus are seeing duplicates that you can let go. Excellent job on that! I stayed up way too late the past couple of nights and didn't get enough sleep in the morning so I've been trying not to nod in my chair for the last 5 hours. Should have just taken a nap. But maybe instead of trying to push through the tiredness and then be wired until 3 a.m., I'll surrender to it and go to bed, and hit it hard in the morning after I do my watering in two gardens. I was a bit naughty today: craft day at the Sr Ctr is usually the 3rd Sat. so i was hoping to go after inspection, but it was today instead, and I went there for several hrs this afternoon to start work on a pieced back for my bed quilt. Got stuff done in the a.m. and a little done in the bedroom after I got home but I lost my mojo after that and have been fighting sleep ever since.

Great job BetsyMarie on the recycling! I hope pickup day is tomorrow so you will have an empty can! creativechaos i hope you got a good nights sleep last night. Great work on getting stuff done in the morning and some stuff done in the bedroom. It feels good to let this stuff go, surprisingly. Im starting to get a clearer vision of what i want my home to be. Its still fuzzy but coming more into focus. I think that helps alot. I got the cat litter changed. Im going to gather the kitchen trash (yep, its strewn all over the kitchen) and get the recycling out to the can for tomorrows pickup.

I've got the next two days free. Not sure what my plan is. I'm thinking I should go grocery shopping in the morning, and then deal with preserving garden produce, and after that I hope to have enough energy left to devote some real time to decluttering. If not tomorrow, then Wednesday.

good plan, betsymarie. it is always good putting up produce. WTG Unswamping on letting stuff go and getting clearer on what you want your home to be, and letting go what gets in the way of that.
i did a stupid thing today with my time - spent all day playing hooky with some painters at a beach - my paintings turned out dreadful - and i knew i should be home here clearing and boxing up... and i am paying for that choice tonight. i am fatigued in every way - mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. i tried to work but at this pace, it will never be enough, or in enough time.
i am going to bed. i am not at all prepared for my friend tomorrow, who i am paying for his help - and once again, i will be in chaos. i had so hoped i would do this differently. quite disappointed in myself. sleep will help, i hope. i wish i could totally clear my schedule but it's dry and i have to water two gardens tomorrow, so no such luck. my friend is coming late morning. maybe i should put him off to Wed. by then i might be ready for him. i'm so overwhelmed and confused, and feeling defeated - all self imposed, of course. some idiot filled our neighborhood dumpster in a panic about this inspection, so now none of us can use it. grrrrr....how inconsiderate!
hoping for better day tomorrow. i hope you have two good free days, betsymarie! good night all.

creativechaos i hope today was a better day for you. Dont beat yourself up over painting on the beach. Even in the midst of all this, we still need to live. We cant put life on hold while we clean up. There will always be stuff that needs to be done. Also dont be so quick to judge your artwork, the guilt you are feeling is probably coloring your perceptions of it. IVe done that too, other artists do it also. My teachers akways told me to "sleep on it", wait until the next day or even a week or so later, to go back and look at it. It really does work. Also they suggested that the first look be upside. I actually leave my like that a few days, if i can. It helps to see composition and color schemes etc. So don't be harsh on yourself. BetsyMarie i hope you got done what you wanted to do. Putting up produce sounds wonderful. I did a pantry purge tonight. There was so much stuff that expired last year! Since alot is organic, no preservatives means it probably not safe to eat. The food pantry wont even take it. I really need to get a better grip on it. Ive been doing well with the weekly trash night frig/freezer clean out. I don't know if i should do the pantry monthly or what but i need a better system for this.

thanks, Unswamping, for the reminder that life is for living while we desqualor and crisis clean for inspections! i did look at the watercolor sketches and... nope... they are still really bad! oh well. i did gain a bit of control at least with the 2nd watercolor study. if i practiced, i might be able to do some better things with it. i did some beach sketches with a fine tip black marker - line studies - that i like better. maybe i can make a painting later, based on those, and the photos i took, a few of which turned out really nice. Fantastic job on the pantry purge, Unswampy! and on keeping up with the weekly trash and frig/freezer cleanout. what a good idea! thinking of you, BetsyMarie; i hope you had a good two days off - here it is the weekend again! for this weekend, i need to focus on several things: 1) making more inroads with the clutter, incl sorting papers for at least 1/2 hr this weekend. an hr would be better. 2) make some art for the october bank show - sort of a Halloween theme I think. i have a few fun pieces they haven't seen there, now i just need to clear enough space in storage to make some junk sculpture driftwood skeletons. I'll look for some stuff to finish, too. 3) clear some room in storage so that i can make my junk sculpture skeletons in there? or maybe just drag the stuff here and work outside, if weather permits.

my goodness - time flies. i need to clean up the sprawl i am already letting happen through ingrained bad habits. the dishes are dirty and things are spreading out - no - i am letting things spread out through neglect, carelessness, and lack of mindfulness. i am going to do something about that tonight to regain control now, before it gets worse! to do: dishes swish and swipe stove clear off small counter hang up any stray clothes put away stray shoes will post more as i think of it. i may not have a routine yet, or a strategy for maintaining the gains i have made, but i can learn new habits, and commit to them. i can clean up after a couple of days and regain control much more quickly than if i keep letting things backslide. i can commit this to myself, for myself. doing otherwise is treating myself badly, and i want to stop doing that!

Yay for all those checkmarks creativechaos! You can learn new habits and treat yourself better. You deserve to be treated well. Went to the store today for primer for the foyer walls and cat food. Came home without the primer, did get the cat food. I also came home with lots of bags of other stuff, right now, dumped in the foyer. Tomorrow i will take a look through the bags, question what i really need and return what i dont. It will be easier to do it tomorrow than let the stuff drift into the mayhem and chaos in the house. I did buy a bean bag chair for the living room. Its actually a bit more structured than a regular bean bag chair and i am able to actually get up from it. So i think that is a keeper. Tomorrow i will do some returns and head to lowes for primer. Very discouraged about my lack of progress, both with things coming in and not much going out. Its time to start reversing the trend.

Ah, Unswamping - I'm so where you are regarding the in/out neverending flux. It's a revolving door of stuff here in my life, with too much coming in and not enough going out. You will get the foyer done and the returns made, and WTG on the beanbag chair, which sounds nice and comfy. i'm sure your cats will agree i'm doing everything but the sewing i need to do. I did some work in the garden yesterday and today, so feel good about that. It tires me out. I have to work tomorrow for storage trade for a few hrs but then I have the day/evening to do other things. It needs to be sewing! to do tonight: dishes 10 min. of PEEPing sewing

Unswamping , please don't feel discouraged! It will hold you back. And you did make progress! You got the cat food and your awesome new chair. You also made some important and proactive plans for the next day. creativechaos , well done for getting stuff done in the garden. Especially as it made you feel productive, which is always a fantastic feeling! Sent an important email Paid an overdue bill Picked up a few bits of rubbish Continue filling the rubbish bag during the day. Do the same with the recycling bag. Do something visually pleasing and productive. (eg. clean something obvious or clear a small area!) I want to be able to return later today and report what!

Hurray Sapphire ...You've got this! Hello creativechaos I must say I am in the "backsliders" category with my garage. I've been waiting for cooler weather here in Pensacola...it's getting tolerable now. I'd better get out there and see what I can do.

good luck with that garage project, def6 - and good to see you! Sapphire, thanks for the support and encouragement, and WTG on getting the rubbish and recycling done! i have been AWOL, working on art and crafts (some in my piled storage unit but hey, now i have goat trails in there and can work in the hallway. made some junk sculpture and wall quilts and one mosaic for an art/craft show at the bank (hung yesterday - halloween themed. so it's fun). this is my 2nd year of halloween shows, and they asked me for next year! i also made and submitted 3 small pieces to a big group show -opening tomorrow - conceptual pieces; some would say "political." so, in my "art immersion" i trashed the apartment, storage is a mess, and i have 41 dahlias to dig, and nothing but rains coming for weeks. gonna be muddy and miserable. i am doing two full days volunteering at this weekend's film fest: what was i thinking!? should've asked for nights. oh well. will start with a list: 1) pick up all art/craft flotsam in apartment. "Home" the things that have homes here, bring the rest back to storage. (this will all take time.) 2) hate to do it to the bees, but cut down the dahlias and start digging! (usually i "cure" them so i can see the eyes to divide but since it's gonna be sopping wet in one week or less, i don't have time to "cure" them. hate to cut them down, they are still blooming - but better than losing my tubers to rot! 3) catch up with dishes, putting away clothes and whatever maintenance i can muster 4) Get some real sleep the next several night. been burning the candle at both ends this week - a recipe for illness, so more sleep needed. that ought to keep me busy for a week at least! i have another art show in Nov. at another bank, so more messes will be made. the dahlia tubs have to fit in one of the two storage units, so something has to GO!
