today's tadas were: 1) i am consolidating and sorting art supplies "like with like." it took time. i labeled the small tubs. i also put a few art supplies in donate pile. i turned down an entertainment center that my downstairs neighbors offered me; i almost bit the bait and thought, NO. use what i have and make it work! if i get more sorted out and stuff reduced, i can "upgrade" later - but LOTs more has to go before that can happen. 3) moved wicker rocker into LR. it probably needs to go, but i can't bear the thought of that yet, so am enjoying it there in the crowded corner since all other sitting places except at the computer are unusable at present. 4) kept up with dishes, cat litter, meals.
cc hurrah for getting those Art Supplies sorted! For turning down entertainment center! Yay for creating a clear space to sit you can enjoy no matter how small! Way to go for keeping up on dishes, cat litter and meals. This is HUGE! Cheering you on and getting inspired by your clear priorities to get some in place over here!

Working right along with you creativechaos I knew when I kept thinking about the one square foot of cleared space that I made in the garage... that I would go back out there. I have cleared an entire wall in the two car garage, cleared a shelving unit and rolled the shelving unit to the side. So the only thing along this wall is a refrigerator and a large air compressor in the corner. DH put up two shelving units along the wall. I'm going to use this space to store kitchenware and the other side camping gear. That will leave two storage selves that roll I can put side by side or each coming out from the wall probably for DH's things. I have reached a comfortable stopping point for the night. Tomorrow I plan to clean out the extra refrigerator and decide if it will stay in the garage or not. I am super stoked and grateful that I was able to get as far as I did. We ate leftover beef stroganoff.
def6 - what an amazing report of all you got done! you went from a cleared square foot to a whole WALL, some empty rolling shelving units ready for action! huge congrats and thanks for working along with me! and woooo hooo on getting the fridge emptied and cleaned! AWESOME work!
thank you so much, danny15, for the enthusiastic and kind cheering!
i didn't get much done the last couple days; trying to juggle many balls in the air. here are a few accomplishments from yesterday and today:
1) donated a bag of art supplies to the neighbor down the street for their teenage daughter - there's still about 15 times that much - at least. but it's a start! donated 3 different types of crayons in their packages to the lady in the office for her 4 yr old son - he was very excited about this! 2) went to big garden and planted a few things; transplanted the kale starts i bought into 4" pots. will grow those on a bit before i venture putting them into my slug and snail metropolis, otherwise known as a garden. (those buggers KILLED my 15 yr old delphinium, sad to say - over the winter. i was not on top of the slug baiting.) 3) tonight i sorted through papers, filed some, tossed some into recyce; enough to finish filling a bag. took that out. (1 hour+) 4) filled application for monthly energy assistance to pay my electric bill - need to copy some documentation to go with the application, and turn in to community resource center. 5) went to bed at a decent hr last night
hoping to do tomorrow:
attend garden club lecture on vegetables (a.m.) meet with social worker @1 pm work at storage owners' garden. they return April 1 and i have done nothing there all winter! There's no water there and things under the eaves NEED water - nervous about this. decide if going to mainland on Thurs or if i can get out of that, going Sat. with a friend study for last Spanish class on Thursday evening.
friday is for working more here at the apartment, and some garden chores if time and energy allow. also scheduled to pick up more cardboard that day for the garden. since it's near the Exchange, hoping to have a couple of boxes of stuff i can donate before i pick up the cardboard.i am thinking to hire a man for two hrs in my garden to shovel some chips. i enjoy the work but at the rate i am going i won't get it done for a long time and i have not even begun to weed or finish pruning things

Sorry about your delphinium creativechaos I hope you plant another one to replace it this year. Great work in getting art supplies to kids today. I love the way you are planning out your week . I know you are an amazing wealth of knowledge for the Garden club. Congrats for going through papers and getting rid of one bag. That is great work...I know it's hard to devote time to papers when you are used to getting this (see image) for your hard work but you can get a Attachments:

Thank you so much, def6 - for that beautiful bunch of delphiniums! i will buy another to replace it if its completely dead. probably should not try to grow in this soggy slug-infested garden anyway.
since i was at the mainland and picked up more bins for fabric in storage and for art supplies at home;
today's and saturday's goals are: work at storage owners' garden in afternoons if it warms up! it's cold here! keep binning up art supplies and putting away. still trying to clear art table surface to see if it needs dismantling. keep sorting through fabric pieces and scraps and see if i can get rid of a little check and re-bait mousetraps at storage. i've been avoiding and avoiding this. box up stuff at storage to go to the Exchange and pile in accessible place.
long term goal - place holder: i want to start trying to dig my art out of both storage units and either toss it (if ruined by mice) or save it somewhere better.
sunday afternoon and evening i will be out at a play and a Spanish/English mixer and dinner.

You have great plans for the weekend creativechaos, especially Sunday. I am making myself cozy in my garage with a radio, comfortable chair and something to drink in the refrigerator that is out there. I hope to make something big happen out there.

def6 danny15 creativechaos great job on getting so much done!
Im so grateful for this thread. So many good insights. danny15 thank you for that insightful kick in the butt post. I needed to read that. Beyond regular trash and recyling, not much has gone out of my house all winter. Ive even slacked on the trash, not so much getting it out of the house but getting the can to the curb. So while my wonderful trash collectors come to my house, they only come to the curb, not up to the house. Really need to start kicking it up here a notch. Did manage to get the donation bin cleaned out of keepers and a few donations in. Decided im going to put a liner in it so i can grab the bag on the way to therapy, to drop off on my way home. Actually, when im done typing this, i will put the bag of liners in the bottom of bin so theyre handy.

Unswamping; i read about all the decisions you made to get unworkable chairs and the mattress foam out - that is going to make such a difference for you! WTG! i once had 13 chairs in here! one by one they got donated. now i only have 5 chairs, plus the loveseat, which i'm thinking is just a "stuff collector." i'm with you - one good chair for me... i'm not going to entertain, that's not one of my goals in life. Need to figure out both furniture and art fantasy life in terms of what is realistic.
def6; thanks, as always, for the support and your good company! it actually makes me look forward to this thread when i have company in the quest for a better life! How did it go with the garage? you are making such amazing progress with that project!
mixed report for the past several days; mostly disappointing and disheartening.i've been doing a lot of avoidance behaviors and resistance is high. been slacking on maintenance stuff like dishes. this morning early will be trash day so i will make an effort to get a bag of that out before bedtime.
i did go to the play - ushered Fri and went for pleasure today - it was FANTASTIC both times - especially the closing show today! i love the story, the music, and all the dancing. the play was Billy Elliott. Then i went to the Spanish/English mixer. They fed us a nice supper and then we had to talk with people both in Spanish and English; it was fun! it was mostly gringoes but a few families showed up and i enjoyed meeting some new people and seeing some familiar faces.
WHAT I GOT DONE:
worked 5.5 hrs total so far on storage owners' garden. packed a few more art supplies into bins went to march for our lives, mainly for solidarity with the youth. mixed personal feelings about it. before bed tonight i will have taken out the trash did some dishes here and there but not daily
NEED TO DO:
pay phone bill by speed pay call Target - and the bank - my red card should have been here long before now! i got approved on the 5th. i hope no one has been using it or my bank account, what little there is, will be cleaned out in no time. our P.O. people mis deliver the mail all the time. i hope no one dishonest got my card! weed in my own garden box and bin up more stuff in apartment to go to storage. do what i said and box up donations to leave storage. re-bait mouse traps at storage. never did this.
the cardboard pickup for the garden didn't happen,;the cardboard wasn't there yet. next week, probably.

CC, I didn't know you got a Target card! Is it debit or credit? In either case, it is very scary-late to not have it in hand by now. You are right to be worried. Target's CS is open 24/7... call right away and report it missing. Find out if there has been any activity. Same thing with your bank... I think most every bank has 24/7 CS as well. Do not delay, my friend! p.s. My Target card took 10 days from approval to arrival in the mail. Yours has already gone past 20 days! Please call asap, report it missing, and they will issue another.

hey, everypony! dang, I wish I had checked in here tonight. I've been plugging away on my own thread, dealing with my own version of whatever this thing is that we deal with. Mine shows up with packing. I've been up all night. I have to leave for the airport in two hours, and I'm still not done. Close, though.
It's so puzzling, the paralysis. One thing I have found that helps me, is to slow down and figure out exactly where the "sticking point" is, and deal with that. For example, yesterday I figured out that the sticking point was a whole bunch of jackets were piled on the standing table that I use for packing. And I had no place to hang them, because I hadn't finished UNpacking from my move... six weeks ago. Anyway, the log jam broke when I realized I could just put them on the bed! I didn't do that, but it seemed to free me up.
Another thing that helps me IMMENSLY is tapping! EFT. When the anxiety starts to build. I like "Tapping with Brad." I do not understand why it works--I did not believe in it for years--but now it's my secret weapon, when I remember to use it.
The frustrating part for me is the compulsion to do things the "right" way, when I do not have time to do this. I tell myself not to. I make lists with explicit instructions. DO NOT CONGRATULATE. But to no avail. I watch myself behave contrary to my own wishes. I know from the outside it makes no sense. Why can I not simply choose something different?
This used to cause me a lot more angst. It still causes angst, but I have more acceptance for it. I try not to add the layer of beating myself up about it. It's bad enough without that.
D spent the night, cause he is driving me to the airport. He just got up, and said "well, you could just finish packing." I just sent him away. He was hovering. How do I explain myself to him? I can't explain myself to myself.
Okay, back to the salt mines...

creativechaos thank you. I didnt get donations out today. I did find someone to take gravity chair. So the plan is tomorrow, drop off chair, drop off library books, then drop off donations. That will be a quick circuit in town. Then come home and get the trash to the curb. Im going to put it all out and see what they take.
I hope you called about your target card. My new one (a chip card) took a while too. Still its best to check. Im glad you had some fun with play and mixer. Seems like you are getting some stuff too. Pat yourself on the back for doing any dishes. Even if its not everyday. Eventually that habit will come.
def6 you are so right about needing to just put the time in. Your made great progress already on tne garage. I know you can finish it up.
mylittlescholar i hope you've been able to get some sleep. I understand the perfection compulsion. Can you give yourself permission to act the way you dont want to act? Sometimes by doing that, it has a paradoxical reaction, i can suddenly not do it the perfect way and do it the new way. Great insight about the sticking point. When we get stuck, there usually is a sticking point. Figuring it out does help. Sometimes its physical, like your packing table, sometimes its psychological and sometimes a mixture of both.
Still battling hoardy thoughts. Like maybe i could use the foam mattress to insulate my tub. I dont take baths in tne winter because being in a mobile home, with the tub along an outside wall, the wall gets cold too fast. But no, no, no! Its going out!

hi everyone! wow - so nice to have company! i volunteered at the school today with the young art teacher. a 1.5 hr class ended up being 4.5 hrs by the time prep and cleanup was done! you're right about the balance, def6 - i've been erring on the side of a little too much fun and not enough work - as is my pattern. i understand paralysis and perfection, mylittlescholar. it negatively affects every aspect of my life. not sure we'll ever know the why of it - i think partly i am wired this way. acceptance of that would help a lot. wooot wooot Unswamping! you did excellent with making decisions and plans to get the chair out! TG on sticking with decision to get rid of the foam, too! you need better insulation for your tub anyway, and you're worth that. i used that stuff on a roll that is fiberglass and wool - it was only 18 bucks for a roll which did quite a lot. papermoon - i got a debit card from Target - i looked at the approval date again and it was the 10th - it can take 2 weeks to get your card but it's still overdue. called Target this a.m. before i left for the school. because the card isn't activated and whoever may have accidentally got it, they don't know my pin so according to Target, they cannot use it. i found out that Target mailed it to the WRONG address my physical address, NOT my p.o. box where i get U.S. mail! I just called Target again; had them check for activity (there was none! ) and closed that card out and will get a new number, card, etc within 10 days... supposedly. now they have the right mailing address. i hope i have some mojo to work on the apt tonight. no excuses; it's almost April already. i need to keep chipping away. the cleaning and dusting alone will probably take a week. it's pouring all day rain so nothing done on any gardens anywhere.
