catherina I am giving you the results after a period of time. All that didn't happen right away. But I WAS able to exercise longer. I decided that for this week's challenge I will do at least 10 minutes of waist exercises. Either in the form of a video from youtube or just doing the exercises. I did them yesterday and today. I want to lose inches off my waist. Good job Diane and danny15 and ohblondie for drinking water too. You will be so glad you started. (or got better at it). One of the best parts for me is that it helps me feel like I am making better health choices. (and doing "something" right)

The trouble with reading this thread is that everyone else's challenges all seem like good ideas too, and I think I should be doing that as well. When really, it's not possible to do everything.. I think I chose a really easy challenge for this week. I'd just slipped into a bad habit over the Christmas period, with unhealthy meals. It's been no bother at all keeping up with the vegetable eating, but I'm going to continue to keep track of it, just so I can tell myself I've completed the challenge. I won't have any problem keeping it up after the week's out. So, for dinner tonight, nut roast with cabbage, honey roast parsnips and carrots, and roast onions for those that will eat them (one of the children is a bit fussy. Having said that, my godson will freak if any vegetable even touches his plate, so I have no reason to complain really, ). And thinking on to next week, I'm going to spend 5 minutes twice a day walking up and down stairs. We went to London over Christmas, and walked up a 193 step spiral staircase in one of the tube stations. I'm not exaggerating when I say it felt as though it nearly killed me. I had bad chest pains, and my legs felt wobbly for a good couple of hours after. I'm quite disgusted that I've let myself get that unfit, when I was a child we used to race up that staircase, and even ten years ago I could walk up it carrying a toddler without getting breathless. I'm going back to London at mid term, and it's not going to beat me!!

So here we are mid-week, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm doing okay with the water. Haven't decided on next week's challenge yet.
I'm going back to London at mid term, and it's not going to beat me!!
Cool story about the staircase, Catherina. Well, not cool that you had a hard time climbing it, but cool that you're using it as a challenge to get into better shape!

Yesterday I returned more than 10 inches of books to the library. I checked out another two: one novel (I only have a novella at home, the others are all non-fiction) and one more non-fiction. Books are just too interesting. I'll work further on reducing the number of books, but not as intense. Returning more than checking out for a while is good enough. BTW: My week goes from Monday to Sunday.

Managed two days without artificial sweets and chocolate. Had a bowl or raisins and other dried fruit though. Battling the sugar addiction is hard, but I am trying.

Not doing well on this week's goals of continuing to keep the coffee table and kitchen table cleaned off at least once a day plus sweeping the floors every other day and mopping once a week. The coffee table is awful and the kitchen table is cluttered with items from a shelf that would have to be moved if Fence Guy showed up yesterday. I will put all this back and clear off the coffee table ASAP. The two chair seats to be covered are still in my living room floor. I can't find staples to fit the electric staple gun I borrowed and I can find batting suitable for padding these things. It is very frustrating and they have been in the floor since Sunday night. I don't know where the time goes.

I put all of the items on the kitchen table that live on the shelf back. The only things left are a stack of family history printed for db and a hat, neck warmer and crocheted blanket made by dd. I really have a hard time finding a place to put knit hats and gloves in the winter.
I've made the first pass on the coffee table, making piles of like items and throwing away the trash. After resting my back for a few minutes, I will put away the sewing items, the screwdrivers (4) and pliers and historical society papers. That will almost clear everything.

Doing not badly with avoiding sugar, though I did succumb to a strawberry crepe with custard yesterday. Going out for coffee with a friend, so that will be a bit of a test. I do love my sweets.

We have some successes, and some steps backwards and forwards, which is what we should expect! I did fine on the water except last night I had 3/4 of a bottle still to drink and I forgot until bedtime--I was afraid to drink it then because then I'd be up in a couple of hours to use the bathroom, so I just pushed it over to today's bottles. I'm almost finished with today's plus the extra from yesterday, so I'm counting it as good!
I still haven't decided on anything for next week, although I'm leaning towards clearing out my emails, because they're driving me crazy!

Had a sweet meal for lunch yesterday but no munching on sweets or junk food between meals, so I am doing well. I am going to continue with this challenge for the next week.

I worked on the junk pile several times during the week....however, it rained for three days and one day was completely shot because my husband had a doctor appointment. In November, he was in the hospital with Vibriosis, which is the flesh eating bacteria. Had it in his leg and caught it from the water in Galveston Bay. He is lucky he didn't die...lots of people do die from it because they don't realize what it is at first...symptoms like the flu at first. He was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks, so has follow up doctor visits every couple of weeks (now). I worked on it this morning but I am not finished, so I am going to add it as my challenge for next week too, and I am also adding another area that I know I can knock out in a couple of days. On ward and upward....or, is it one step forward, two steps back.

I got about 75% of the living room misc cleaned up. It looks a lot better! Did pretty well with fruits and veggies this week, and will continue both challenges for next week. I will also better organize the big book case in my bedroom.

Oh ellen, that's so awful about your husbands sickness. Are there no warnings in the bay about the bacteria, like a blue flag scheme for safety and clean beaches? I'm so glad he's on the mend now. A few years ago we had a sewage leak on one of our local beaches, and one of my friends had a bad stomach bug for a while. It was never life threatening though. Well done mythreecats, I like the 'misc' description, it's perfect. I ignore about 90% of the miscellaneous stuff in my living room. I'm sure it's in some way psychological, I've got some nasty solicitors letters involving my ex in a corner, and I've just heaped.loads of junk around it, so a quarter of the living room is unusable . Well I've done well on the vegetable challenge. I've also been keeping a log of what I've been eating, and if it wasn't for all the sweet and junk food, I'd have a really healthy diet. But I'm not brave enough to even think about giving up sugar . I'm finding the stairs challenge really boring, so I'm trying to find ways to make it more fun. So far it's not happening. Another challenge I'm going to set myself is remembering to take my food supplements every night. I'm so exhausted lately, and I'm sure they would help. But I always remember when I'm in bed.

My goal for this week is the same as last weeks: declutter & clean off coffee table & kitchen table once per day, sweep the floors two or three times a week and mop public areas once a week. I didn't do well on these goals last week, so I'll pick myself up and try again.

Week 01/2016This week's goal is ... ... to work through some more of the library books I have at home. I returned more than 10 inches to the library. I checked out 2, but have already another 2 on the return pile. Week 02/2016This week's goal is ... ... to create an excel sheet which is meant to help me (re)gain overview over my finances.
