I count my weeks monday to sunday. I think I will continue my no-sugar goal, but on Monday I get back to counting units of carbs to try and better manage my diabetes. Today I was defeated by a bag of trail mix.
I also have a project I want to work in over the next week. I will sort through my stacks of jeans that I cut apart for quilt projects. It turns out that stretch jeans and chinos do not work for quilt-making and I have a lot of them. And I do mean a LOT. I will sort out the stretchy ones and see if I can figure out if there is anything I can do with them. If not, out they go.

bobolink, if you have a child in your life, a couple of pairs of them can be repurposed into slacks and jeans for dolls, if not, then keep enough to make a pillow and toss the rest. Why don't chinos work for quilts? i would think that those would be easier to work with than denim which can get VERY heavy in a quilt.

Chinos do work fine if they are not stretchy.

to everyone who made their goal OR who is still trying! I'm counting my week as a success, despite the one day when I didn't make 3 bottles of water, because I caught up the next day. I'm going to keep trying to drink 3 bottles of water a day beyond this week, although it won't be my official goal--I think I can do it, because I'm drinking one bottle with breakfast and that gets one out of the way early in the day. If I just keep remembering to put one bottle out when I get home in the afternoon, and then another with dinner, I should be able to keep it up. I've been drinking less soda this week because of the water, and that's great. My goal for this new week is to get my email inbox down from about 2200 emails, to 500 by the end of the week. Many of the messages are easy, meaning I can read the title and delete. But many are a little more time-consuming, since I have to read the actual message and decide if I want to keep it, then move it to a folder to keep, or else have some small action to do before deleting. Then there are quite a few that will take a lot longer--usually book lists, that I have to read carefully, check for titles I want to read, etc. I have no idea how many are in each category, so I'm taking a stab at 500 as the end point, figuring that that will still allow me to get rid of a lot of emails that are not the easy kind. Of course, I'll be getting rid of more than 1700 during the week, since I'll also have to get rid of any that come in during the week too. I'm not going to do the exact number per day, but just so that I have an idea of what I'm dealing with, I've figured out that to get down to 500 I'll have to get rid of any emails that come in during each day, plus 243 additional per day. I can do that! Diane

OH NO--I made a mistake on the numbers. The 2200 number of emails is the UNREAD emails. The total number was about 3100, and a lot of the harder emails are in the "read" category, because I read them and left them there because I had to do something with them. So I have to refigure my numbers-- I have to remove what comes in daily PLUS 340 emails to remove enough to bring me down to 700 (instead of 500), that's the same percentage of emails removed as I figured before. Okay, I'm aiming for 700 remaining in the "total" email number at the end of the week, and I have to remove 340 per day plus everything that comes in that day. That's sounds a bit harder... I can still do that! (I think...) Diane

Ha! Are you saying I'm a little OCD???
I already deleted the 340 for today, but most of them were easy ones.

dtesposito.. I had 32,486 emails at one point. Something to do with deleting then on the yahoo app on my phone not actually deleting them properly from my inbox. It was quite a shock when I logged in on the computer!

Wow! Did you just mass delete? I can't imagine actually looking at 32,000 emails!
Nope, just a southern expression of sympathy.
Oh, I thought it was a variation of bean counter, which means paying too much attention to the each bean, and not necessarily the big picture.
Since I picked the first number of 500 out of thin air, I wanted to use the equivalent for my new total so I can see how hard it is to get to the percentage that felt right.
I can't imagine having that many emails.
Well, just like with paper mail, if I handled them right away when they came in, instead of reading them and leaving them there, they wouldn't be a problem. One more thing to learn to do--eventually.

The coffee table is almost done. I have worked on Historical Society paperwork for the last 2 hours and the kitchen table is a fright. I have so many stacks I've almost given up. Next up, sweep the floors.

, I searched out all the important or sentimental emails, then deleted everything else. Thanks to a painfully slow internet connection it took the best part of a day. bobolink, I don't know if it's your kind of thing, but stretchy jeans can be made into really cute teddies. I lack the skills to make anything more advanced than a basic flat teddy / bunny shape, but DD and DSD both have several that I've made out of their old jeans and they are well loved. I like the look of denim but 'proper' jeans are just too stiff and uncuddly. Today I blasted out several Bowie songs (to the disgust of my neighbour who has no sense of occasion or taste in music) and spent nearly an hour running (oh Ok, crawling breathlessly) up and down stairs. I also had a bowl of veggie soup for lunch, and veggie casserole for dinner - I seem to be unconsciously favouring a soft diet at the moment. I am procrastinating about going to take my supplements, and my taste buds are shrinking in fear at the thought of the iron tonic I need to take. Yeugh!!

Well, I am starting this week late and have changed my mind about this week's goal. Every morning when i go for my walk, I stop for coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. This week I will eat a decent breakfast at home and just have coffee when I am out.
