So my friend and I were talking about Chinese New Year. It is traditional for the Chinese to clean their entire homes to start the New Year Off right. You take one room at a time and clean it top to bottom. You mend all your clothes that need mending, you return everything you borrowed, etc. We have decided to do this this January in our houses, I am not sure when Chinese New Year is, but we are doing the month of January. Anyone else want to play? I have started in my kitchen.

It's a great idea, but don't count me in ! I still have to un-do Christmas & I am tired & live alone & besides that, I am 80 years old. I need more time. catcat

My grandparents had a lot of superstitions about what to do and not to do on New Year's day to bring good luck. I always got a chuckle out of the fact that one of the things that one grandmother did was the direct opposite of the other grandmother.

OK, Done with the kitchen. Went through all the cupboards and tossed old food, ugly dishes, lidless tupperware, tupperwareless lids, cleaned out fridge, cleaned oven, went through and filed, tossed, shredded paper. Now on to the downstairs bath. It's small so that should be easy.

Today I bought a new smoke detector and installed it. I also bought one of those stairsteppy shelves that go in the cupboard to organize my vitamins, etc. It worked so well I need to get another one for spices. And I got a minishelf to go into my bathroom cupboard to organize stuff. It looks so good I keep going to look at it. Works so much better than the baskets I was using.

Finished sorting the other room, put everything away, dusted and hoovered. Cleaned my room as well. Cleaned the hallway.
Need to sort the middle section of one cupboard in the kitchen and the kitchen will be done too.

We have finished sorting the kitchen closet. And my neighbours are moving and offered me some great furniture - two cupboards for the kitchen, firdge-freezer combo much newer than I have and two wardrobes!
