Well here I am again at the end of my second very productive week, feeling very proud, but amazed at myself. I have been concentrating on de-cluttering and deep cleaning my kitchen and I just can’t believe how many things I have come across that I haven’t used this century. A dish warmer, salad bowls I had completely forgotten about, umpteen champagne flutes, sherry glasses and wine glasses that I have absolutely no use for whatsoever, a couple of teapots, 2 single serve milk jugs, numerous jars and what seemed like thousands of mismatched plastic containers and lids.
The strangest find of all was when I was cleaning out the blind corner of the bottom shelf of my rather large pantry. I found a very pretty rather expensive looking pair of female underpants at least five sizes too small for my very ample backside!! Who on earth did they belong to and how on earth did they get into my pantry? The only thing I can think of is that my dog, who enjoys a good meal of both male and female underpants, found them when my granddaughter stayed with me for a couple of days in September. We had a few thunderstorms around that time and if the pantry door happens to be open he will climb into the blind corner of the bottom shelf and hide.
Anyhow my total for this week is 268 items (not all from the kitchen), and my total so far is 581.

There is a guy on freecycle that periodically posts looking for old tv's. He wants the kind that are big and bulky and "stick out the back", not the flat screen tv's. And they do not have to work! Well, he posted recently and I responded that I had two of them. He picked them up saturday! WAHOO!! No recycleing fees or electronic disposal fees for me!
51 + 2 = 53!!

Everyone seems to be going really well and I find it so encouraging to be part of this group. Without the support, motivation and challenge provided by you all I think I would still be saying "I'll get around to doing it one day."
Haven't thrown out much this week - 71 items and my running total is 566 items although not all have been from the kitchen which I'm concentrating on at the moment. The great thing for me is that I am not only de-cluttering my kitchen but deep cleaning it as I go. I have finished the plastics cupboard, the pot cupboard, the crockery cupboard, my large pantry, a miscellaneous cupboard that held unused wine glasses and craft supplies. As well as all that I have cleaned out four drawers and repaired one which was broken.
Won't be doing anything for the next 10 days or so as I have to go to Melbourne to look after my youngest grandson while his patents are away, but when I get back there is only the under-sink cupboard to clear and clean and then I can start on another room. Cheers all from Oldgold in Oz.

--2 notebooks that had comics glued in the pages My Grandmother used to do that. After my grandmother died, my Mother saved them as the whole family wanted her to... she became the keeper of things from her mother for that side of the family. It is so sad that we could have all enjoyed them years ago, but they did not want them all split up & given to some members but not to others. Family squabbles. So, they figured she was the most trustworthy and would keep them in her home, like a librarian and loan them out or family members could go by her house & look at and read things. Those comic books were so fantastic!!! We all loved reading them when we used to go to Gramma's house, on Sundays, as kids. The whole family would gather over there.. it was an Open House every Sunday afternoon until my Grandmother had to go into a Nursing Home. I miss her soo much. And, those times. We all had soo much fun being together. They were mostly Blondie comics. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories, ccd . Now, I get the feeling that even if we all went to one of the family members homes on Sunday... there would just be Computer games & cell phone texting and gaming going on. Even the teenagers used to enjoy going over to Gramma's... I wonder if today's teens would even bother to go over to "Grammas". I'd like to think that they would. What were yours of and where'd they come from? CD

Previous total = 217 Feb. 3rd
My DD flew in town. which meant that her fiance would be coming over. So, after work, I went to work on my house. I straightened the den, some. The house is kind of a disaster since having some painting done & ceiling repairs in 4 rooms!!! Was really bad timing and am still unable to have it back to at least the way it was. Lots of stuff still in my dining room -- table, 4 chairs, lots of boxes, bags, etc.Anyway... Emptied the kitchen trash & replaced bag.Emptied vacuum cleaner.Cleaned front bathroom. -- floor, mirror, toilet, bathtub-- a quick swipe, not thoroughly, sink counter, sink.Straightened DD's bedroom.Straightened some in den.Moved a few things out of the dining room -- still a ton left in there.Vacuumed DD's bedroom, hallway, den, DS's room.Swept entry hall and some of kitchen.Dusted in DD's room.Emptied front bathroom trash & replaced bags.Emptied vacuum, again. Swept entry hall.
5 bags of trash taken to outside can. 6 -empty shampoo bottle & various other items. Feb. 11th
Went thru a bunch of papers that were on Dining Room Table:
76 papers/brochures, etc. into recycle bag.5 papers were tossed.1 big bag into trash.1 torn pair of panty hose into trash.
New Total = 311
