This week I have pulled a LOT of weeds, till I got a blister on my finger from it. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, which I welcome because I can rest!

Slugging away on random packing of donation boxes..local thrift is having a shoe collection drive, so the 2 pairs good leather peep toe are now in the box- i know I will never ever wear them..if I ever get invited to some mythical fancy wedding I will just go barefoot as "mother nature" in my bohemian dress.
If I have ANY energy left after tea break I will see what else I can do to meet 2 month goal- I already did the "BABY Goal for Baby Groot" (my version) - that Diane started.
-27 misc kitchen items from cookie cutters to special drain spoons and more, much more. -2 more boxes of books for donation-total 5 boxes ready for the car -box of magazines and cool book on 'beading'- may list on Freecycle with the $$$ collection of teeny needs given me -the brand new fax/phone machine been in box for ~9 years -fancy collapsible tripod for camera -metal folding bed tray from 1960s with harvest farm scene, cute but I never use it
Ran around today just judging how long it took to do tasks from fold laundry, pack up sheets to donate, pull more books from shelf, tape up boxes to use, unload dryer, emptier rain water from leak tub in patio, toss pulled weeds seen in cement, save spider, clear DW and place dirties, make lunch, clean up, make tea, clear litter box, vacuum area, pet cats, check hummer feeder for ants, load rained-on weed/bulbs bin into sunshine to dry out before tossing in trash, pick up broken twigs from storm all over yard, plant catnip seeds 12 years old discovered in book box..place old almond butter out front for the critters-rats will eat it first I bet, look for lost receipt on NEW pocorn maker I want return, wash popcorn maker, place popcorn instruction back in original box, load paper receipts NOT the popcorn receipt into recycle bag... PHEW....no wonder I will never finish home repair..I need a nap and it is 2:15...
and I bet I would be doing HALF of this if I lived in a granny flat anyway!

I went through the fridge and found old half used bottles of sauce. Also envelopes.
Took out trash.

A pile of historical paperwork, after scanning it all so I have a digital copy to retain.
Hint to self, it would probably be a good thing to do with a whole lot of other paperwork; yes, it takes time to do the scanning, but it might be a good investment of time. Need to think about this some more!

peaceandfreedom this may not be a function you can use but I have an old fax machine, I feed in the paper document, send it to my online fax telephone number and it comes to me as an email attachment, secure, and it is a PDF..so I can forward it to my doc, or tax lady, etc. It is $12.95 a month, and is also a full fax service too, you have a REAL fax number people can send to, but saves printing paper out, just save as pdfs and print only as needed. www.efax.comI am committed to getting rid of misc items I kept delaying on. - favorite poster board art -large metal picture frame- -a basket made of all dried corn stalks..adorable..I am going to use a large box and place as many baskets in it as I need to let go of...all are cute, but having ~19? -2 new bright orange metal pumpkin face cake baking pans -a gold plated goblet, fancy but not ever used -a durable desk blotter like new -several more small kitchen doodads -round metal reindeer tray -flowery tea kettle-decorative -wood cow puzzle piece for a 1 yr old -Cow- very large paper mache - box of 50 DVD cases -50 pg pack of santa letterhead -2 packs of fancy quilt design (wedding rings I think) motif wrapping paper hard to believe I am barely making a dent...seeing SOME open space in GBR is a glimmer of future Debating on donating: -new pink "messenger" bag bought as a traveling laptop carrier/mini office -10 rolls of anaglypta embossed wallpaper -perfect for rough flawed walls www.improvementscatalog.com

- Still shoving bulbs and green waste into the trash can. loads more to go. - next to go: plastic storage bins all apart in 4-5 years here..the rims snap off the lids don't fit well..so am using them to load up weeding and will break them up and trash in a month or so. can't believe how much everything needs fixing outside ..the divider fence from my front area to back side yard was bowing seriously because some piece of attachment broke.. so i was running with a drill bit and a big eye bolt and hooked a chain between the fence bolt to straighten it up a bit..and that ties to a huge plum tree TG!!! I have SOMETHING to hold the fence up longer. if that fence flopped over my bad messy pile tiles would be showing to the street..NO NO NO fence needs rebuilt prolly... a better design would be posts with the nice lattice--much lighters, easier to fix..so ADD that to the list!! LAST comment-- watched Love it List it..and sure enough a Seattle 60s home in bad shape worth $1.9 MILLION..1 bath- hideous, tiny rooms, rotted porch... they go to do $150K of remodel..and the CITY forces them to completely rebuild a front porch to meet code...see? Inspector comes over and you HAVE to pay for that fix..it was so much money $25K+ I guess..they gave up the bath redo..the worst of all the repairs needed.

Love this topic, and so... staying on topic, I'll share that I got rid of: - one large bag of old clothing not worth donating (threw it out in the trash);
- lots of plastic and glass containers (into recycling cans outside my building);
- some oilcloth and cotton fabric scraps (was feeling creative and transformed the scraps into a new wallet with key ring and zippered coin purse attached - something both useful and pretty); and
- an old pair of shoes (tossed into trash).

tossed a favorite old ripped stained turtleneck in the trash. donated 11 6' T posts to our community fence project. donated 15 4' metal posts as well. gave away some clumps of Japanese Iris. rounded up some plant flats (about 20) to take to the nursery, but then forgot to get them out of the car! oh well! tomorrow or Mon if they are not open tomorrow. outfromundah, that is so cool that you made a wallet out of the oilcloth scraps - i love that stuff! WTG on getting rid of the scraps and old shoes etc H2H, you are doing fantastic with the releasing. i like your plan for a lighter, easier to manage fence - glad you could fix the part that was bowing. Great job on all donating, tossing, releasing, everyone!

whelp..it has been 48 hours of NOTHING done, nada, nope, zip....nuthin' Friday, or today, part physical weariness, part sloth-gene emerging, and mostly overwhelm when I went outside to see how much the yard mess ALL over conflicts with any sense of accomplishment inside.
so what I got rid of was my "sense" of ever being done.
yeah I can do piece by piece, but not outside, utilizing my energy there is a total waste of 'life hours'. Am now willing to hiring the too talky lady house helper and just tackle a lot of outdoor clutter she can tote while I direct. I think we better look at just one small area until each is done..otherwise you see nothing done.

got motivated to day to work in the carport and side yard-sunny nice out, hated to spend the day indoors on GBR
-sorting and combining tiles I started boxing up last fall, -sweep up dry leaves for compost, -piled up a lot of trash-trash and -recyclable cardboard + paper and other plastics metal for next recycle trip,
stared at the tall side yard overgrowth and started laying out my long footpath sheets I had moved..mistake.., ..these are 13 2' x4' rusty metal trays or shelving from years ago. I am giving up on laying a mosaic of tile on each one (yea right, doing 13?) and just putting back down again as weed barrier
I laid them flat on the grassy/weedy area..it simply covers a LOT and allows me to direct foot traffic safely thu an overgrown yard.
Decided to start using a lot of the huge granite countertop cutouts from sinks shapes (these are giant kidney bean shapes, and many in a half circle, plus big pile of large cream colored marble
-will fill in a cleared space walkway path from last year..and lay an outdoor floor-path with this heavy granite than nothing can grow thru!

wtg def6 for ousting the old magazines, and the big bag of old blankets! there ya go, H2H - that's creative thinking for your outdoor space - if you can cut and bag what is going to seed those won't lie in the ground for 20+ years to haunt you later. seems like a good plan to cover as much of the weeds as you can with something impermeable and then you'll just have the cracks between to deal with, and be able to use your granite for some cool stepping stones for your walkway path. and yes - looking at the "whole big picture" of mess in my life puts me in a fetal position wanting to suck my thumb, so i can relate. i hope you can hire the talky lady and get her to do all the lifting and schlepping. finishing up small areas gives visual proof that something is getting done, and a sense of accomplishment and hope (and something nice to rest eyes on.) i gave 18 plant flats from my hoard at the garden to the nursery today; kept about 1/3 of that. another bag of garden refuse (broken plastic pots and such) and thistles/weeds into the dumpster. inch by inch....

today: -get rid of more bulbs, make a recycle run with more rusty metal tools I gave up on garden art projects. -dumping some random tiles -donating a loving soup tureen - large glass pyrex baking tray -cheese grater -kitchen odds and ends __________ Watched a 2012 Hoarder show, a very old frail man had an enormous acreage of rusty stuff..he dreamed of a little sale shop with remade items he puttered on..he cried when the pasty faced blonde psych made him realized he would never get better. (as she gets older she turns more pale, loading on more mascara, looks weird)
He grumbled "This is America, it's MY property, I should be able to live the way I want" << Don't blame him at all!!! Don't we all agree??? ___________________________ Thanks CC... I laugh when I see the word tending "cracks" we are talking many YARDS wide of ground still growing..so it is the reverse..JUST a path... a metal outdoor "goat trail" if you will..and that suits me.
It might be fun to see how much everything grows.. there is beauty in green and blooming. If I lived in cracked dry earth El Paso I'd hate it..but less to weeds for sure.
I get belligerent -and agree with the old Codger above....when I start to feel shame at the mess.. inside is minor clutter, and just too much of acquisition naturally in 60+ years of living..that is fixable easily..and is getting hauled out weekly.
But ..knowing my crabby old neighbor may look over and see a mess that hasn't changed much since 2010.. it DOES look like I hoard....compared to his pristine flat yard ....even though time and money spent hiring people to bin and stack and cover, and hide to tidy it up ...it all falls apart over time sitting in weather, water.
I have 1.7 billion yellow buttercups with dense green leaf this year due to heaviest rain in 20 years! I am letting them "be" as they DO NOT pull out, and need massive shovel power to get rid of. AND they hide all the small piles..I can't even SEE the ten 50 lb cement footers for the lovely wild flowers growing between them.
