I really like the phrase "more going out than came in!" Needed to hear that again. Now, I'm visualizing the size/volume of our garbage can + recycling bin + compostable bin. Together, that is a lot of volume, but I'm always happy that the garbage bin is by far the smallest of the three. Now, I'm going to think about them as "bins of weekly potential!"

Well,,, Almost get rid of anyway,,,, two of the old pieces of furniture from the spare room, taken down stairs , but no room in the bin for them till the weekend , , , l had to take the saw to one of them to make it light enough to take downstairs, tempted to use a section of it for storage under the stairs,,, I'm glad of lace curtains, the neighbours would of been most confused to see me taking an electric saw to the furniture (bonus was it gave me the motivation to bring the vacumn upstairs, saw in one hand and hoover in the other ) My squirrel instincts are still showing through, as right now I'm speculating which fixings I can salvage from the furniture for reuse... and I must of looked around all the rooms a dozen times to see if there were an alternative place for the other piece of furniture,,, but NO I've got to resist!! And really I don't need storage, I need LESS STUFF....... please someone nag me at the weekend to get them out the house once the bins empty,,, so I don't weaken and attempt to wedge them in somewhere .....

great job sawing up that furniture so you can get it out of your house, notanotherdecade! i hope you can easily get rid of the pieces of this furniture and have more space. i didn't donate anything the past several days but i took a box of fabric and some books and magazines to quilt camp - about 3/4 of the box were taken. i gave everything away, did not want to deal with money.

BetsyMarie How's it going? I'm still sitting on a storage room full of stuff that needs to leave And, I'm adding to it! Going to drop off a bag of bags on my way to work today so I will at least get rid of the "new". PC

I'm hoping when the days get short, and it's colder outside, I'll be able to devote more time to it.

A couple months ago when it was really hot (remember 'hot'?), I picked up a large used fan thinking it would help move air in the house. Only it did not work. It was mostly plastic so I thought it could go out in recycling. And today, out it finally went. It had gotten to be 'just there' and blending into the background. And now it's gone.

I got rid of my MIL's sewing machine, the table it goes on, and a whole box of attachments and things. Cleaned it too well, of course ... I always do that. But sold it to someone who really wanted it. Acquired: more space in the basement!

Just to help take the sting out of getting rid of things, there's a game where you get rid of one item on the first day of the month, find two items on the second day, three on the third and so forth. By the end of the month, there is nearly 500 items gone. As it's September 3rd, that's only 6 items to catch up! Or, start today at 3. I put the donations in a box until it's full, then out it goes!

itsybitsy love that idea!
creativechaos great job on pesto and getting rid of weeds!
outfromundah awesome job on getting the recycling out!
larataylor huge wtg on getting out the sewing machine and everything that went with it.
I bought new undies about a month ago. I finally got around to washing them and putting them away in the empty drawer. To keep with the one in, one out rule. I just tossed all the old undies. Ok, i did kind of hem and haw a bit. I went and opened the undie drawer to remind myself its now full. So i let them go.
