Diane works for a hotel chain and gets an employee rate under certain circumstances, so we'll be staying near the airport. That nudges the price down to about $20 a night per person (pre tax) for Diane and I. It is about the only way we can afford it. We won't be staying elsewhere unless the rates are even lower. I'm sorry if that throws a kink in the plans. PS, sidestep , regarding the list of attendees, I certainly hope YOU will be there!

You've got it, Fivecat! I promise not to make you sleep like a hanging bat since that queen mattress is currently up against the wall! Time to turn that room into a guest room! I could actually host 2-3 more people if needed, since that would leave one twin mattress, one queen mattress (I'll take the couch) & another couch. Keep in mind this is your budget alternative, the house is an un-updated 50 yr old! You'll also be sharing living quarters with 2 indoor-only cats!

@unswamping, this doesn't go in effect until 2018 and won't affect this Squalorfest. Interesting new complication for air travel. I'll have to run it past my travel agent friend.

sparkle you are right. I was tired last night when i read it. I mixed up the paragraph about this january and not being able to go to federal sites with the air travel. I should probably start applying for one now anyway, it will take a year for this backwards, 19 century relic of a state i live in to get that processed.

Here's a link to the evolving list of attendees from the previous page. My house is filling up too! I'm gonna be busy!Who is staying here? Fivecat Fivecat's Hubby? Mimi Di? That leaves room for 1-2 more if need be . . . The couches are not the pull-out sleeper type, but I find them comfy. I can even sleep on the floor if need be, my carpet pad is nice & cushy! Please PM me if you are interested in this budget alternative.

@unswamping, I didn't think that you needed a passport as such but rather a yellow star drivers license. I had to replace a lost license and I got a print out of all the documentation I will need when I replace it in a year or so. It looks like it's going to be a hassle to get driver's licenses now. I will need a birth certificate, lease, documentation from Social Security, and several other items.
It seems like domestic flights are going to require either a passport or an enhanced driver's license.
