I hate taking out the trash and thought I was in a bad way when desqualoring in a semi tropical country where recycling was mandatory and garbage had to be put out in CLEAR bags so they could spot your illegally non recycled stuff and not acceot your bag of garbage. BUT still better than having to go to the dump with no car!!!!! APPRECIATE GARBAGE DAY NOW! PS, In that country (Taiwan) I had the advantage of living in a huge apartment complex, which had workers to organize and fix the trash before it went out -they wld sometimes give you your bag of trash back, but more usualyl open it, take all the recyclables out and throw away the trash. GET THIS for a garbage law: NO BAGS or cans allowed on the curb. ILLEGAL to put trash on ground. YOU HAVE TO HOLD TRASH at least a few inches off ground (ie, be waiting for the truclk). For you to know exactly when it was there, all the trucks play horrible loud electonic music, the same song over and over and over at high volume. So people wld hear the music and run out of their house chasing the truck. sometimes they'd chase it all the way down the street as it kept going just a little to fast for them to catch. YOu also had to throw it in yourself, there were garbage men but they just helped they stuff be distributed evenly, not help you. It was pretty funny.to see people chasing the truck or lining the streets chatting with neighbours while they waited, not letting the garbage touch the ground. plus imagine you live ont he 14th floor and hear the music (there were a lot of highrises) AHHH! jump into the elevator with the neighburs and all the smelly bags! PPS script, have seen reports about TO's crazily difficult new system and feel bad for you guys, especially as apparently half the city didn't even get their special new bins yet due to the city not making enough on time, they have to BUY tickets to put on their garbage bags to let them be accepted! good to recylce, bad to make life uber inconvenient!
