Well, I'm still "checking in" from time to time . . .
After all, I *know* how very, very easy it would be for me to "fall off the wagon!!"
My current method is to wash 10 items; then, I go read something or other on the computer.
Then, I go back to wash another 10 items. "Lather; rinse; repeat."
Admittedly, this makes a very simple job take all evening, but--hey! I get them done!! It makes a once-detested job be tolerable.
Best wishes all.
Arid

I have all the dishes washed!! I did a second load in the dishwasher and a bit later I filled the sink and washed everything else. I'm stopping for lunch now and after that I will put them all away in the cupboards. Now my goal is to keep the dishwashing done. thanks wynken for starting this thread

A did get mine washed after dinner last night. I had an '8 minute uprising' and also got a couple of other tasks swiped at.
It is good to read of your successes. It helps me keep going too.

I had a long tiring day yesterday (whine and excuse) and didn't wash the dishes, so I got up and did them while I was waiting for coffee this morning.

Hurrah for Louie, getting all the dishes done!!! Let's hear it for Cleanbee, MVP on Dish Drainer Defense!!! Thundering applause for wynkyn, starter of the thread and master of the Eight-Minute-Miracle!!!
And a super wooty-woot-woot for Ima, harnessing the power of the time it takes coffee to brew!!! I got a scare this morning when I started in on my all-too-common task of washing enough dishes to clear enough counter space to create enough room to make coffee: the water pressure was extremely low, taking about 2 or 3 times longer than usual to fill the dishpan. It's been well below freezing here for several days, which is an unusually long & hard cold snap for the Pacific NW, and I think a water pipe somewhere may have done some "cold snapping" of its own. Part of me wanted to say "Woo-hoo! A valid, beyond-my-control, excuse for not doing the dishes!" But another part of me pointed out that this is just the sort of thing I could have been prepared for by having the dishes already squared away, and maybe filling a water bottle or two; and it's not like the weather has been some secret thing I couldn't have been aware of. That, and there still was perfectly good water slowly filling up the dishpan. I got the dishes that had been in the sink washed and into the dish drainer, and the dishes that had been scattered all over the kitchen rinsed and soaking in the sink. And I got my coffee made. (& then filled the kettle up with water, just for luck.)

imamess & evelyn Last night I washed up before going to bed & swept the kitchen floor - was wonderful to walk in to it this morning! After breakfast this morning I washed all the dishes even though there was only a few - I'm paying attention to my 'excuse' thoughts.

I think they are fixed now, but just in case, I will fill some containers with water today. It seems to me that if I have a container of water ready that nothing happens. I really hope your water pipes don't freeze!
