Yesterdays effort was just to empty the dishdrainer. I need to put in some effort today. I estimate its less than 10 min to get them squared away atm.
Yes - appreciation the action taken is part of the process Louie and cleanbee, Ima and serendipity. Waving back to def6 and outfromundah too.

I've washed the dishes, more from fear that the water would freeze than just wanting it done. Whatever gets the job done, right?

I'm afraid there's too much to catch up with here for me to congratulate everyone individually, but looks like everyone posting has been doing really well.
Er, some of us (<cough> me <cough>) may not have posted because we kept looking at the mammoth pile of washing up done last weekend, that was still piled up on the draining board and on three drying mats on the kitchen worktop, and that was needing to be put away before any further washing up could be done. So some of us (yup, me again) may have just kept piling things in the sink and thinking that we would get to it eventually.
Thankfully, eventually did, er, eventually, come. I put away the vast majority of the previous batch of washing up yesterday, and I washed up everything that was waiting to be done. My job today is to make sure that all that stuff gets put away so that there is an empty draining rack ready to be used during the week.

ty Louie - I did enjoy my smoothy... Minerva - keep posting. See if its possible to do less than the huge marathon, more often. Its a common problem after a huge push to get a stack done, that getting into a regular cycle of doing (the dishes or whatever) doesn't just happen automatically. One of the following may be helpful for you to consider. Adding a strategy from someone posting on this thread years ago, who washed that day's dishes, plus one more, and whittled down the backlog that way. I've done the wash up a dish drainer full and then stop method too. Repeat the next day. It helped - when I needed to do that. (Unless you are part of a big family that needs to fill the dishdrainer 3 times a day) Maybe to wash up one day, put away dishes the next, if its still your intention to wash dishes every 2nd day, when the back log is caught up. Sometimes, that is the way I do it here in actual practise. Some options for readers to consider, accept or reject. - Part of flylady's plan was to put the 'waiting' items in a bucket under the sink, so they were out of the way. - Personally - I opted for a basin on the counter, and when it was full, wash them plan, when I was doing it her way (cleared sink at all times). (Dirty things under the sink seemed too much like out of sight out of mind for me.) - My Mother does this - uses an ice cream container to wash up the few things she uses, using the kettle (hot water left over from a cuppa) so as not to use much water, or need to put on hot water system. - When I lived in a share house where the landlord rented out the rooms, and lived in the other half of the large home, we were told the rule was that everyone was to wash up all their own dishes as soon as they finished eating. It worked that way in that setting. I've added dishes to my list with every meal - trialling that. It seems that emptying the dish drainer helps, then I wash up x2 dishes after the next meal. That is my current plan. Trying to remember to sing a happy song at some stage of the process to keep on my happier self's side.
