This is a short term thread--for making a goal JUST FOR THE NEXT WEEK that will improve your home, your mind, your body or spirit.
We can do just about anything for one week! We don’t have to continue beyond the week--we can if we want, but making something better for one week is so much better than doing nothing.
We can use this thread to work on a longer term goal but concentrating on one week at a time to make it less intimidating, or we can use it for smaller jobs that we can finish in 7 days.
We can make a goal every week or make a weekly goal once in a while.
Whatever way it works for you, please join in!
Diane

Thank you Diane for getting us started with this new thread.
This week my goal is to continue along the path of re-establishing daily and weekly routine tasks that I do out of habit and with ease. To get back to the point of where they don't feel the least bit difficult or overwhelming and things feel "off" if I neglect any of them.

Thanks for the new thread dtesposito , and Hi to calypso and entropy . I outlined in my 'Maintaining Hollyhock's House' thread how I wanted to set up projects or deep cleaning tasks for the upcoming year. Mainly 1 area or task per month, but broken down by the week, so it can go hand-in-hand with these weekly challenges. But I still have a couple of things - end of year, or started but not finished - that I'd like to complete this week, or very soon. I'd also like to work on a habit this year, of doing dishes, and tidy the LR/ DR before bed every night. And to also start working on a craft daily. In addition, I have a LOT of digital clutter. I subscribe to emails from too many blogs - too many to read daily, so I need to weed them all out, and keep the ones most meaningful to me, so I can keep up on them. My plan is to list the blogs alphabetically, in my mind dump book, and spend 1 week per blog checking out it's emails, and decide by the end of the week whether to keep it or discard it - does it bring me joy? I hope to end up keeping a certain amount of blog subscriptions, in each of my categories. I have deemed January as the month to handle my clothing. They are sotred in 2 closets, and drawers - so 1 week for each, which will include the clothes AND cleaning the area they are kept in. BUT for the first week, I want to take down my Christmas decorations, and store them properly. I realized that I like to keep things up for epiphany - but I only need the nativity for that, so that will be the last to be put away. So, my goals for this week, Jan 1 - 7, 2017 are: DEEP CLEANING/ PROJECTS: Put away all Christmas decorations: - balcony decor - wreaths and garlands - decorations on kitchen cabinets - plaques and other wall décor - small village in bird room - middle village in bedroom - village in china cabinet - other table decor - tree and decorations - Christmas linens - angels - nativity Sort out and tidy locker, and storage closet as I go DIGITAL: Declutter address book on my cell phone. Most contact info there is related to past job, and clients etc - need to go. NEED TO FINISH: Recover seats of 2 DR chairs Visit cemetery Prepare budget book and Bullet Journal/ Mind Dump book for new year Set up files for new year Bring in patio cushions from balcony to locker! CRAFT: Start crocheting!!! HABIT: Wash dishes, tidy LR/DR every PM OTHER: Buy a new bathing suit, or 2 Talk to ddil re her birthday - it's on the 7th - make plans.

This week's goals: 1. work on financial stuff Thanks for sharing, entropy. Financial stuff absolutely has to be my key week goal. It has been one of the most horrible months re: financial. Serious identity theft plus a nasty non-filing penalty invoice even though our accountant, we hope, filed our taxes. I set aside the identity theft since before Christmas, but now I have to get back to it. It is demoralizing, exhausting, and stressful for numerous reasons.

ClimbingPyramids - I hope you can sort all of this out. It sounds like a huge hassle.

Hello everybody--I'm glad to see people getting started on their goals!
CP, I'm sorry to hear about your financial troubles, I hope you can make some headway on clearing them up this week. Identity theft is something I worry about, I try to be careful without being paranoid about it--but it seems that the thieves are getting more and more clever as time goes on.
My goal this week is pantry-related. Now that the holidays are over I want to really start working on the pantry/fridge/freezer again, and cut down on the amount of stuff I buy and the amount that I waste. So there are 2 parts to this week's goal--I would like to get the freezer completely cleaned out (did the fridge last week) so I know what I have. The other part of the goal is to start using my computer screen virtual sticky note to make up menus for the next few days--and to actually read them, and to actually follow them as much as possible. This is such a simple thing and if I could make this a habit, I would eat healthier meals, and I would not forget about things in the fridge until they are spoiled. Easy in theory, it has not been easy for me to do in practice. So starting with baby steps, I want to use the sticky note for one week and to at least TRY to follow my meal plans.

Many thanks, hollyhock and dtesposito, for your kind wishes!
I didn't work on financial stuff, other than to look through one box of files and, then, type up some file labels. But I did venture down into the basement to go through some clothes with DD. Clothes are so overwhelming for me.

I'd hoped to get Christmas put away today, but it didn't happen that way. My goal now is to get it done by the end of the week.

Many thanks, hollyhock and dtesposito, for your kind wishes! I didn't work on financial stuff, other than to look through one box of files and, then, type up some file labels. But I did venture down into the basement to go through some clothes with DD. Clothes are so overwhelming for me. Thanks RoadRunner for liking my post. Have already had a much more productive day than yesterday. Found the key paper files for the financial issue I need to work on this week (see my identity theft post of yesterday). Took screen captures of checking account online statement (is it a statement or just an online record/list?) for the period of time during the potential disputed/fraudulent transactions. Downloaded Excel file of above. Now need to compare the above documents to all the screen capture print outs of my PayPal account. It's been a month to the day that I was made aware of these fraudulent transactions. The clock is ticking -- I have 30 days now to make sure I file all the disputes and, if already rejected (as numerous have been via PayPal and the vendors that I initially disputed the first few days of discovering the frauds) do a second level, escalated 'claims dispute'. Needless to say, I hate this. If anyone has D children who do online gaming, feel free to contact me for guidance; all the fraudulent charges have stemmed from online gaming garbage. It's awful. Oh, and this is my Second-Annual-December-Madness-Identity-Theft-Event!!!! Had over seven hundred USD fraudulent charges that may have stemmed from an illegal data skimmer thing at a gas station. That was resolved quickly, thanks to my really really really great credit union. I love my credit union -- recommend CUs over banks any day!!!! This fraud issue, however, is much more vast, complex, and costly.

ClimbingPyramids so sorry you have to deal with the Financial Stuff....my DS games online...I have not seen any funny charges ect, how would I know if "our" identity had been stolen or hacked? Thanks for starting this thread dtesposito. Working on pantry is a great why to start the year out. Eating healthier and even money savings I am sure. What do you use for computer sticky notes? Great Goals for the week entropy GO..GO..GO hollyhock I have also deemed January as the month that I will deal with clothing, mainly because I need to tidy and organize closets to store DDs American Girl Doll Stuff. I love the detail in our goals!!!! You can do it!!!! DustyD putting Christmas Away is also one of my goals I was hoping to have it done before returning to work, but it did not happen. Will tackle it 10 mins a day. All that is left is to pack up everything and tidy Christmas storage area. Good Luck This Week!!!! creativechaos I so hope that you get to bring home your beloved furbaby this week!!!!
