Hollyhock, you have been working really hard putting all that christmas decoration away. It reminded me why I do not like decorating much I am starting to feel better I have evn had some energy to PEEP this morning. Next week challenge: put the kitchen stuff back in place once the flooring is done (on Tuesday). Then I need to clear out the bathroom and the hallway the workman is coming to make it even on Friday.

since last week's goals were small i consider it a success - except for taxes. i started going through 2015 receipts last night and argh i hate it so much i didn't get far. so. this week's list consists of: PAPERWORK BACKLOG: work on and FINISH 2015 taxes start receipts on 2016 taxes figure out 2016 income download and print a Q4 2016 state taxes form DIET; at least one salad a day, and more vegetables for at least one meal HOME/STORAGE: continue sorting and purging small amounts and report on what i got rid of in that thread. dishes and PEEPing to help prevent entropy keep up with trash and recycle 1 deep-clean project in kitchen (oven, fridge, etc) PERSONAL AND PET CARE: play with cat at least once every day brush teeth at least every night before bed (bad about this!) STORAGE UNITS sort and release - at least 6 hrs a week of work in there - the mice have changed this plan. but i may just rent a dumpster if it gets too far ahead of me.

Lucie, I hope the flooring is successfully going in today. CC, I just went through the receipt things myself, I hate it too. Make it into a game--5 minute timer on, 5 minutes off--or whatever. Or using music or something. You'll be so happy when it's done! I have done a few minutes of stretching each of the first 2 days of the week, but I need to build it up to an amount that will help me. I feel so much better when I do it, why don't I want to do it? Diane

I have too many goals and not enough time...
I have an online class that started on Monday. It's on ancient world history, of which I know almost nothing about. The website we work from is very cluttered, and requires that I jump through multiple menus to find what I'm looking for. This morning I'd like to get the assignment done regarding the syllabus and calendar. (We have to take a quiz on the class requirements among other things. Then I want to start working on the first real assignment, which has something to do with Mesopotamia I think. I would like to set up a notebook for myself and some type of schedule. I assume that I will have to spend a few hours doing assignments on Wednesdays, and several hours over the weekends. I am usually too tired to do much studying when I get home from work, but have found that there are YouTube videos covering the subject, which might help me learn better than just reading.
I also want to continue to exercise, eat healthy, and get some work done around the house.
ETA: The Syllabus Quiz is done. Not all of the answers were in the syllabus, they were scattered throughout this very jumbled website, but I did find all of the answers. I want to start working on Unit 1 this afternoon.

We have to take a quiz on the class requirements
Wow Ally, I don't know if that's a teacher that's extremely controlling, or one that just has had too many clueless students saying later that they had no idea they would have to actually do the assignments! Good luck with the class, I admire you for taking classes as well as working full time.

Diane I think this may be a new thing with millennial students these days, or students new to online classes. I had to do the same thing with an online English course I took through another college last summer. I think sometimes students might assume that you can work on your own pace with these classes, and it's just a matter of checking in and answering a few questions now and then, but in fact these classes are very structured, but also require a lot of self motivation. There isn't really much teaching/lecture, it's mostly reading and studying the course materials on your own. That English course I took had assignments due (reading a story/poems and writing an essay) nearly every day, and as someone who works full time, I had to devote probably 10 or more hours of time each weekend (and additional hours during the week) working on assignments that were due during the week. Part of that is that I do not have strong writing skills, and I lack the ability to analyze stories and poetry the way some people do. I'd read a poem, and have no idea that it had some type of subtle, hidden meaning. I also think part of the purpose of the quiz is to give us a chance to see how the quiz taking software works.

Ah, okay, that makes sense--online classes are a whole different thing!
I love to read and can comprehend nonfiction just fine, but I share your difficulty with poetry--I remember reading poetry and having NO idea what it was about, not even a clue. Not my strong point!

This week so far: Waterfit - I went Mon AM. G finally made it to a class! We had some fun and went out for a coffee later. Tues I went to the afternoon class - intense instructor. While I tried to reduce the speed she was wanting us to do things, doing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) in the water, it's very hard with the water resistance - and I don't feel she gives us enough recovery time between sessions (less than 20 seconds). Later doing weight exercises using the pool noodles I also felt close to injuring my tendonitis-prone arms. At the end people said they had heard she'd also be doing Thurs class, since the Thurs instructor (a much gentler, but effective instructor) can no longer do that day. Since I was ready to walk out in the middle of THAT class, there is no way I want this instructor twice a week. But since I had promised someone a ride to Thursday's class, I have to persevere for 1 more. The rest of Tuesday I was exhausted, and napped a lot. And Wed. I had aches in my groin and my back. So I did not go to waterfit with an instructor I really like, on Wed., in order to go to the one I don't like on Thursday! So my at home routine seems to be working for this week's schedule, but I will probably have to modify it for next week. I'm not doing well in getting the every other day tasks done though. I also tried have 2 bags set up for waterfit. That almost became a classic fail, when I realized, AFTER I left my apt., that my pass card was still in the OTHER bag. (I have duplicates of everything except my pass card). So back to 1 bag. Because I did not make it to waterfit Wed., but it seemed so nice outside when I was on my balcony - I decided to finally go out to the cemetery. So that is now done and out of the way until Spring. It also allowed me to get the stuff out of the back of my car. Because I made a 2 1/2 hour round trip out to the cemetery, finishing up my bedroom closet got delayed until later in the day. The closet itself is now finished, but I still have the doors to wipe down. So half-way through the week report: Goals for Week January 8 - 14, 2017: Trial new weekly routine Waterfit 5 times this week? only 2 out of 3 so far Set up a second waterfit bag but a fail PROJECT: BEDROOM CLOSET and CLOTHES in it - closet shelf - left side of closet - right side of closet - closet floor - closet doors - fall and winter clothes in closet Edit 1 blog subscription for keep or unsubscribe. unsubscribed - working on another NEED TO FINISH: Recover seats of 2 DR chairs Visit cemetery Prepare budget book for new year Set up files for new year Bring in patio cushions from balcony to locker! cushions from loveseat are now in DR CRAFT: Start crocheting!!! HABIT: Wash dishes, tidy LR/DR every PM hasn't happened

I did not list a goal for this week, but I had one in mind - find someone to repair my washer & dryer. I made a few phone calls on Tuesday and had a repairman in yesterday. His fee was very reasonable and he fixed the problems. I was sooooo glad to be able to wash & dry my clothes last night.
Another goal for this week is to do all the things necessary to purchase & store the giant sack of feed for my cows. It is a procedure to jump the utv off, hook it up to the trailer and drag the trailer out of the barn, unhook from the utv and hook to the truck, go get the feed, back the trailer partially in the barn, unhook the trailer from the truck, hook it to the utv, finish backing the trailer further in the barn, unhook the utv. Right now I'm watching tv to check the weather. I can't do all this in the rain, since I can't get the giant sack wet.

great job everyone else on working on challenges for the week!
i'm not doing too well on my goals. i have not got far on 2015 taxes. i have been focusing in the storage units trying to get things out ahead of the mice so that they can be donated and not just tossed out. so far this week i have released: 8 boxes of books to library two boxes of fabric to thrift and kids' rec center a large painting to a friend 2 other boxes of miscellany to thrift.
i barely made a dent in anything at storage, and more fabric has come into the apartment to be incorporated - so it's a mess here too.
i will just try to make every challenge i meet a victory, even if not all get done. i will post results for this week's challenges tomorrow night. i have been starting my weeks on sunday and ending saturday. i am going to try starting my weeks on monday and run them through sunday, to see if that makes a difference, having all of the weekend to complete my goals. will report how that works tomorrow night. it's probably just my huge demand resistance at the wall of papers facing me, but that won't get them done.
conclusions so far:1 )i made too many goals at once. i am going to have to start smaller with just one goal per area. 2) i need to work through demand resistance because the dread and not doing things is exhausting, physically and emotionally!

I too am jumping in, as I am "resetting" this year already and changing my ways! Baby steps.
I'm going to the gym (that I'm paying for) 3x this week. I'm attending my Quaker meeting tomorrow. It's very restoring to me, an hour of silent reflection. I've already cleaned out my pantry and refrigerator. If I get nothing else done in the house, getting the kitchen fully done this week will help so much with preparing meals. Second goal in the house: my bedroom and sitting room. The sitting room is more like "the room we toss all the junk into that doesn't have a home". I want it to be my office, for genealogy, writing, and music. My bedroom is, of course, for rest. It's not restful when I trip over something getting to the bed. Today I also made a hair appointment-I have severe phone anxiety, so believe it or not, this is stressful and I usually wait until I can't take it anymore. I have a goal of getting my hair fixed up every eight weeks (it's short).

Goals for Week January 8 - 14, 2017: Trial new weekly routine worked a bit Waterfit 5 times this week? 4 seems to be my limit - I was too achy Wed to go Set up a second waterfit bag but a fail PROJECT: BEDROOM CLOSET and CLOTHES in it - closet shelf - left side of closet - right side of closet - closet floor - closet doors - fall and winter clothes in closet Edit 1 blog subscription for keep or unsubscribe. unsubscribed - another kept NEED TO FINISH: Recover seats of 2 DR chairs Visit cemetery Prepare budget book for new year Set up files for new year Bring in patio cushions from balcony to locker! CRAFT: Start crocheting!!! HABIT: Wash dishes, tidy LR/DR every PM hasn't happened *********************** Re doing dishes in the PM. It's really an ideal, but doesn't look like it will happen. I usually eat late, and then tend to fall asleep easily after supper - no concern, I am just up too early - so the dishes don't get done. I don't see it as a big deal, so I am not going to worry about it any more. One habit I had noticed I was getting a bit slack on was my Bible reading. I used to do it after my exercising, when I was cooling down. (Maybe not the ideal time, but it was a time where I wasn't moving, so it got me started.) But since most of my exercising now is at waterfit, I had lost that link, and so wasn't doing it, unless I really thought about it. This week I decided to try linking it to the sunrise, since I am up early anyway - and that seems to be just the perfect time to do it, and it has become consistent. My weekly plan didn't really work out. I went out of town on Wed instead of working on the house, and I don't know what happened to the rest of the week, except that I tended to do some of the leftover stuff instead of the weekly house stuff. That meant that by Saturday I still had the whole house to clean (weeklies). I did it, but I didn't like it working out like that. 4 days of waterfit seems to be my ideal. I really do exercise to the max then, and I can feel a pleasant muscle ache the next day (most days) letting me know it was effective - but I know I need to give myself a break - so I am thinking of taking Wednesday, and the weekend off - unless something comes up and I can take an alternative day off.

For my big project, I had originally planned to clean out the closet in the spare room this week, and then do the drawers in my bedroom that contain clothes next week - but I think I am going to reverse that. My monthly task for this week is to do a good dusting - especially on bookshelves, and other shelves, including inside cabinets. Since I had many extra knickknacks on my spare room bookshelves both from Christmas (village pieces), and then stuff I brought from my aunt's, I couldn't do a good dusting in there, and it really shows. I also want to prepare the room so I can let the birds out, meaning I want to figure out how to cover over the shelves too, with a curtain or something. I think trying to do both the closet and the shelves in there the same week would be very difficult, since it's also where I keep extra things like extra totes etc. So for this week I am going to work on the shelves as my monthly task, but clean out my bedroom drawers (that contain clothes) as my yearly project.
AND I still need to work on finishing recovering those DR seat covers.
Goals for Week January 15 - 21, 2017:
Work on setting up a weekly routine Waterfit 4 times
PROJECT: BEDROOM DRAWERS CONTAINING CLOTHES, wipe out, reorganize contents, donate anything not used Highboy: - top part - 3 drawers Triple dresser - left section - middle section - right section (None should take long since I did this a few months ago)
EDIT 1 blog subscription for keep or unsubscribe
EXTRA MONTHLY TASK: BOOK CASES in SPARE ROOM - move items as needed - damp dust really well - figure out how to curtain them off
NEED TO FINISH: Recover seats of 2 DR chairs Set up files for new year
CRAFT: Start crocheting!!!

i like changing my week from Monday through Sunday; this works better for me than Sunday through Saturday. Last night i hit the 2015 taxes in earnest. got all the income/receipts/expenses done! i should be able to finish filling out the forms tonight and thus meet my MAIN goals this week (taxes!), which i am reposting here: SUCCESSES THIS WEEK: do 2015 receipts (all done!) finish 2015 taxes! figure 2016 income start 2016 receipts you are right, dtesposito. it is feeling better and better, the more i get done on the taxes! i have some calls to make to social security in order to see where i report that income and where i report the SSD and SSI on my 1040. that just started in 2015 so it's something new to deal with. i'm keeping up with posting on the "what i got rid of today" thread. things are going OUT. much, much less is coming IN. some day i may even thank the mouse infestation in my storage unit. DIET; at least one salad a day, and more vegetables for at least one meal - doing better. did not do every day though.HOME/STORAGE: continue sorting and purging small amounts and report on what i got rid of in that thread. dishes and PEEPing to help prevent entropy - improved. keeping up better. still slacking though some days.keep up with trash and recycle 1 deep-clean project in kitchen (oven, fridge, etc) PERSONAL AND PET CARE: play with cat at least once every day brush teeth at least every night before bed (bad about this!) - FAIL. i don't brush , so any brushing will be improvement. STORAGE UNITS sort and release - at least 6 hrs a week of work in there - the mice have changed this plan. but i may just rent a dumpster if it gets too far ahead of me.
