I'll try this and see how far I can get. This list is from yesterday. 1 I forgot the empty coffee can (I really struggled with this one) I'm glad you're joining in! Yeah, things like coffee cans are hard to part with. I always think that I can either use them for Something or that I can giveaway to someone or some organization that can use them... ends up just collecting things like receipts and/or dust and taking up space. So good job on that one! CD

So good job on that one! CD I seem to think that plastic peanut butter, pickle & mayo jars and coffee cans need to be saved and I also have a hard time with boxes. I have several clean jars and coffee cans in a garbage sack in one of my buildings and that is enough, so I'm trying very, very hard to throw them away.

imamess I seem to have the same problem with saving containers - bottles, jars, carboard boxes, plastic bottles, bags. I am also trying to slowly throw them out, a few a time seems to be easier for me. I have been thinking about why I do this and my mum saved all these sorts of things 'just in case' we needed them, part practical as we had little money but also part fearful of the future. I think I learned some of this from her and also I had a wonderful image of me canning, making home made cleaners, soaps, jams, pickles etc etc - part of the tossing out is me letting go of this 'fantasy self' I have in my head and keeping what I need for the life I actually am living. tossed out: 5 empty liquid soap containers 1 soapbox 1 large plastic bag 3 small cardboard boxes 1 empty vitamin container 5 shoe box lids total out today: 16 57/2017

Good for you, Louie,for letting go of your "fantasy self." I have soap making supplies, canning jars and equipment, beekeeping equipment, etc. that I haven't used in years but can't yet bring myself to let go of.
--2 jars --1 small wreath with fake "dried" flowers
1950 items to go

Even though I have thrown out dozens of jars over the past couple of years I still find myself hoarding them because my "fantasy self" convinces me that this is the year I am going to make lots of plum jam and I am going to grow lots of tomatoes to make tomato relish! Yeah...well the reality is although I have two very productive plum trees we never get to see or eat a ripe plum. Great flocks of sulphur crested cockatoos beat me to them every time. One day they are not quite ripe enough to pick, the next day or two there is one helluva screeching hullabaloo for ten minutes and the trees are stripped bare. As for the tomato relish maybe one day I will get around to planting tomatoes, but by then I will probably be out of the habit of collecting jars.

Shredded 97 papers from 1994-1998 and 2015 - 2016. These were from "To Be Shred" bag that was in a box in the Dining Room. There is no more left in that bag, but I know that I will be adding more.
Tossed 1 bag,1 zip bag, 1 old pair of contacts & an old contact lens case. Put 1 paper into the recycle bag. All were removed from my dresser & had been sitting there for a year and a half!!!!!!!!
Removed 3 cans of Diet Coke & put them in a bag to take to work to give to my co-worker. I put that bag with my purse & keys to take to work on Monday. DH rarely drinks them. I don't drink them. These had been sitting on top of a box since DS's wedding 4 months, ago. They were left over from the Hospitality Room at the Hotel.
Tossed empty grocery bag that was on the breakfast bar. It's been sitting there for about a month.
Removed 3 sm. cans of pepsi from bag that was on top of Dining Room Table. Put them in bag to take to work to give to co-worker. DH & I don't drink them. The bag was one of the extra peach colored Welcome Bags that we gave to out of town guests at the Hotel at DS's wedding 4 months ago.
4 bottles into recycle bag
Tossed old contact lens case that was on the sink counter in Front Bathroom. It had been sitting on the sink counter for about 2 months. Tossed ClearCare kit that was in the closet -- DS stopped using this product over 5 months, ago and he is the only one who used this product. I was keeping it so he'd have it, if he needed it when he came in town for a visit.
Subtotal = 115
Total = 281
