This is the Working in Threes (W.I.T.) Thread
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before
The guidelines are simple: - Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
- Once you have 3 things done, post them here! - Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again. - You aren't required to do the 3 things you had planned on -- just get any 3 things done and then post proudly.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed,
or just need to break your tasks down into something manageable, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of: - Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash . . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE-DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta-Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To-Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those 3 to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

I have a lot to get done this morning. The plants need to be watered, the birds need to be fed. The chickens need to be fed, and I am out of chicken feed. (Maybe I can give them bird seed until tomorrow?) I need to do a bit more studying, I need to pack, I need to do some tidying up, and lots more. I will be going to visit my daughter this afternoon, run some errands with her, stay at her house overnight, drive her to the airport in the morning, then drive home in time to take my on-line, proctored final exam.
ta-da's: Studied for a few minutes Made and ate a healthy breakfast Watered 2 plants that were very wilted
to-do: Make a cup of tea, take vitamins Water houseplants Refill bird feeder, It's empty... Laundry? Much more

Ally... starting sourdough pizza (can you point me to a recipe link for sourdough pizza dough? never tried making pizza dough, but sourdough would be my choice.) creativechaos, I didn't mean to ignore you the other day. I don't know if you've had any sourdough experience before, but most of my attempts have been flops. A few months ago I attempted to make some wheat-free bread using spelt flour. The recipe I was looking at had you use kefir probiotics to make sourdough starter. I tried it but didn't come out with something worth eating (too sour!). The bread went to the chickens. Then wondered what to do with this canning jar of starter I had sitting in my fridge. I did some internet searching and stumbled across some sourdough pizza recipes. It's still trial and error, and I still add yeast to the dough, but I keep feeding the starter, so I need to keep using it. www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/sourdough-pizza-crust-recipewww.food.com/recipe/sourdough-pizza-crust-98733I just stumbled upon this recipe: korenainthekitchen.com/2012/07/20/no-knead-neapolitan-style-sourdough-pizza-dough/I hope this helps.

grace! congratulations! I have 7 more classes to go to I finish my BS. That will take me a couple of years. I will not go for a Masters, because I would be retired by the time I'd finish it, I think! ta-da: After spending the night in Philly last night, I drove DD to the airport, and then drove home in heavy traffic, arriving just in time to take my Civilizations/World History final exam, which I did as a proctored exam online. The guy had me turn my webcam around so that he could see the room (to make sure I wasn't cheating). I was nervous about the possibility of this so I had decided to do this in DD's room which, while messy, is not quite as bad as the rest of the house! I passed my exam! Sometime in the next week or so I will start my next class. I need to look up the start date. I finished emptying the dishwasher (DH had done much of it.) to-do: I am out of chicken feed, so plan to go put and buy a bag of feed and some calcium supplements. (One of the hens is laying very thin shelled eggs which end up getting broken/eaten by the hens.) Clean up some mess around the house Go for a walk

When I left for work yesterday, I had chili in the crockpot. The meat puddle was a frozen block, so I set it on high, intending to turn it to low as I left & I forgot. about 3:30 pm, I contemplated running home, stirring, checking, adding water & elected not. Arrive home at 7:00 pm, about 20 min into a burn-up. I quick scooped out the middle out & ate some. I had thought to make cornbread, but I was tired and had Aldi's brand (townhouse type) crackers with it. I lost about a third of it. I filled the crock with water & let it cook on high all night. TaDa before work cooled the crock, dumpt, scrubbed, stuck in DW DW is full, and plan to run tonight folded/put steam load/pj load sheets still piled on bed, am thinking of changing it tonight. We'll see how tired I am. Didn't plan supper tonight, and didn't pack lunch, so gotta go find something somewhere. Ally, do you give the broken shells from the eggs you cook back to the hens? That's a great source of calcium for them. No, I don't really know about hens. But for some reason, I've seen several Youtubes by this one homesteader guy. The one who calls Mrs. Homesteader "the beautiful one". He seems knowledgeable about his stuff. Justin Rhodes His feed the hens for $1.25 per day video

Today I am off from work (vacation) and I am on break for a few days from class. (I finished my "mini-mester" course yesterday and start the new one on Monday.)
ta-da's: Got up at 5 AM and put out two boxes of paper and paperboard for recycling. (We only have pick-up 2 times a month, and it's 1/2 mile from the house, and they pick up before 6 AM, and we have had bad weather a few times on pick-up days, so I haven't put any out in a while.) Made and ate a healthy breakfast, but I did overcook it a little. I have been sitting on my couch, and sorting through papers and other junk that has accumulated there over the past few years. (I had a few piles and boxes of odds and ends, but when DD finish college, she brought home several boxes of stuff, that just were piled in that area, which has made cleaning that area more difficult.) Am trying a no-knead pizza dough. It has to raise for several hours. We'll see how it goes.
to-do: More tidying up. There is so much to do... Go for a walk Maybe go out with DH... Taxes? Need to discuss whether DH wants to put more money in the traditional IRA. This is his last chance, since he quit working.
