I am gradually clawing my way back into action. I have kids at home for the next few days as their school had a curriculum day today (Friday) and Monday is a public holiday here for Labour Day. So I won't be getting any big projects done but in the last couple of days I have (almost)caught up with the dishes done a few loads of washing Not much else, but it is more than nothing which is what I did the previous few days. I've been out with the kids today, and will be going to my son's cricket game soon, so not realistic to get much more done today other than that and feed them, get them to bed, and collapse into bed myself. mylittlescholar just wanted to thank you for the car analogy. You were right. I was struggling to get into first gear. I was expecting that after just stopping for a couple of days, I would immediately get back up to speed. It helped me get things into perspective, and yesterday I went back to what I was doing at the beginning, such as setting a timer and doing 10 minutes in the kitchen. Doing that did help me get moving again, so thank you for that analogy. I will remember it next time the engine stalls. and Diane, you were right too. It didn't take all that long to get the kitchen back to where it was a few days earlier because although there were dirty dishes and food left lying around, it was only a few days worth. I suppose you are also right that having kids means that there will be setbacks along the way. Almost all of the sole parents I know have messy houses. I don't mean people who have shared custody with an ex, but people who have full time care of kids on their own, don't tend to have spotless homes. But I need to do much better than I am doing now. It is now only about 5 weeks till I go back to work full time, and the last two weeks of that will be school holidays. So I only have 3 weeks to try to set up a structure at home that I can maintain when I am working. Which is why I got so down about this setback. However, I'm moving again now so there's still hope of getting there. Of course I have other goals for this time than just housework and I have not been addressing those, but I might use your early spring thread to address those Diane.

Good morning! I'm happy because this is a stay-home day until 4:30 this afternoon. Haywire, I'm glad you're catching up some. That's right, I forgot you're going back to full-time work soon, you're right about getting some kind of routine in place. Are you kids old enough to help? Make bed Scoop litter pans Pigeon care Eat breakfast Diane

haywirehousekeeper -- congratulations for getting into action!!!! It's not easy to get back up after a setback but you're doing it!!!! Diane -- I'm glad you have a lot of time at home today!!!!! Good morning to all!!! Last night I finally slept well. I had a few nights of poor sleep before this. This morning I suddenly woke up at 8 am ... OMGoodness!!! Plan of the day -- Mostly at home - we are expecting rain showers not sure how heavy. I need to go to the bank - and then later early evening is the tea room artist show -- I can't sell my things yet because the peddler permit was $25 for just one month and $10 fee to the establishment -- that would have been $35 plus I had to get a letter of permission from the establishment ... weird ... my pouches sell for $5 an under (in my mind so far I've only given them out and now my friend and I decided on a trade since I'm not legal to sell them). Wow! But anyway, I can see a few friends and pick up the necklace I ordered for my "almost sister" who I will see in Vermont in May. I've got a lot of little things to do so I'll list those later when done. Sunday there will be a special announcement, board installation, and a dutch treat lunch after services at the restaurant near the church. Off to the shower and then to make some breakfast for myself.

Good morning everypony! I am pretending the end of (or is it switch to?) Daylight Savings Time already happened. I SO dread this time of year. The only way I can deal with it is to do it "first," before they do it to me. It gives me a false, but emotionally satisfying, sense that I have some control over something that disrupts my sleep horribly.
haywirehousekeeper so glad you are clawing your way back! And even if you got only one habit solidly in place in the the next three weeks, that would be a great foundation to continue building on.
What I found is that a good day depends on a good morning, and a good morning depends on my choices the night before. And this has been the HARDEST thing for me to do: develop a good PM discipline.
Last night I did finally chose a hotel and book a reservation. BIG relief.
I still have so much to do, it makes me anxious. Which makes me stay up, which makes me anxious. ARGH! I need a vacation! OH! I'm going on one! Right. Breathe.

Scholar and Pamela are both here early! Wow!
I worked for quite a while in the DR, it looks a lot better. Still a storage room, though. I asked the other condo board members if they minded me putting my bins of books in the basement so they can be donated over time to the little library, and only 1 of 3 people responded, so if the others don't I'll assume they're okay with it too. Then I can bring my extra bins downstairs, and fill them up with the LL books--that will free up a corner of the DR. That won't happen until next week, though.

We ended up picking up something for lunch. It took a little longer to eat than a quick meal would have. Then I started some business.
Currently: Figuring out whether the loan on Experian is the one I'm currently paying on, or if it's something else.
Next up: Put away two baskets of laundry

I've been working on the dining room and preparing to get rid of the little library books. I have the huge bins and 4 bags of books by the back door, ready to go downstairs. I have to leave soon for the 1st of my 2 walks, so maybe I'll bring them downstairs tonight, or tomorrow. The DR looks a lot better, but of course, I did a little messing up of other areas so I'll have to PEEP those too...
Right now I have to get my dog walk bag ready, check the weather so I know how to dress, and brush my teeth before leaving.
