Maybe I have 10 wheelie bins to go. But a lot of that could be donations. I have to stop thinking I need a bigger place instead I should probably think I need less stuff. I hear you about the kitchen my cupboards are also full but I even cleared them out this summer. We are lucky we can get rid of an unlimited amount of stuff in the trash every week but it's just doing it!

Oust said: Maybe I have less than 5 of those big wheelie bins <<< SEE, she said "wheelie bins" ,,,My FAVORITE word in discussing 'garbage' sounds so much cuter than "trash can" too!!
Jannie you are lucky....we get exactly 2 free removals a year, always PRE- arranged and can't be more than 2 refrigerators in "volume" ..I have to LIST the junk to the nit girl on the phone at the trash company, but the grunt guys will usually take whatever is out....but once they COUNTED..I was ticked to move 2 heavy buckets of tiles back IN off the curb. Still grateful to have the option for that much dispose though... just cranky when people power trip me.

I have to stop thinking I need a bigger place instead I should probably think I need less stuff. That shift in thinking was really key for me. I can also testify that getting rid of stuff (like, 70+% of the stuff I owned) increased the functionality of what I kept a thousand fold. Having a place for everything and everything in its place is LUXURIOUS living. Turns out that I did not actually need 4 coffee cups for each person in the house. Constantly losing stuff is a distant, bad dream. If I want something, I just go to where it's kept and get it. I keep things just decluttered enough to where I can buy things knowing *exactly* where they'll go at home as part of the "yes, I will buy this" decisionmaking process, so bringing things home and putting them where they live AND WILL BE USED is a happy thing. Cleaning the entire house enough to make it company ready is no longer some intimidating, seemingly insurmountable challenge, no matter how bad it's gotten.

wind..I keep buying extra to replace what is lost or missing (usually just under a mountain o'crap) If I was living more minimalistic - stuff would not have a chance to go missing as the pile o'crap would be gone and I would see the item. Or I would realize it was missing and I would start the hunt earlier.....

I have really made progress in this time. I seem to have more of a plan and a much better understanding of what needs to be done and how to start towards the goal. This is great to hear oust. As for how much more to go...if you're at 5 wheelie bins, I'd say you are well positioned to be done very soon!

Today's trash can must have weighed 25lbs. To encourage me, I bought an automatic trash can from costco. This has really helped me all I do is wave my hands over the lid and it opens. It shuts after a few seconds. It keeps all the odor inside . $50. The old one had no lid and I didn't want to keep it.
