Hello,I used to be here for a few years ago,a little. I don't remember username, and again I have apartment's contract renewal. My room is really itty-bitty,and there's lots of things, and 10 mon old kitten is jumping around, breaking things.(lost 19 years old cat last year) Hoping I can find motivations...

Hi! Welcome back Do you have garbage in your space, or just things? Either way, if it sounds like something you can do -- jump in there for mini cleaning sessions. Whether 5, 10, 30 mins -- set a timer and do focused work on one thing, so you don't get scattered. Getting garbage in a bag OR doing dishes OR finding things for donation/disposal (sounds like you will have to be doing some culling of your belongings to be able to keep yourself in maintenance -- don't be afraid to let go of things. It will bring freedom!) OR gathering like items (clothing, craft items etc) in designated places to then deal with. We learn here how to act on the phrase 'motivation follows action'. Just a pick a method of tackling things and start. Don't overthink it; just choose what to work on, and begin. Ten minutes good work is so rewarding, and often makes you want to start that ten minute timer again. If you want to elaborate on your situation more we can probably give advice as to good places to start or methods to use to get going!

Dear ittybittyroomFitting a bunch of stuff into a tiny room makes life stressful and difficult. Try arranging/organizing your room to fit the space provided. Your room won't be cramped if you get rid of enough stuff. We don't need all that we keep anyway. Attachment Deleted

You sound just like me! My user name is/was "messylife". I changed my display name to Starting Again; I'll see where that turns up in the post. I am starting another post in this thread called (you guessed it) "Starting Again".

Hello,Sorry for my late thanks for you all! Family thing came up (niece living distant from me)and My mind is still occupied... I am doing ok,not my niece..(She is fighting with leukemia for one year, and doc told my sister she is really really bad condition after I post first post.) And me and other sister can do nothing..
Besides, I'm living in Tokyo and my apartment room is really itty-bitty. When I was here before,I was told by member my room looks like collage dorm.So I need to reduce my things. And this family thing made me realize again,no one is immortal, regardless his/her age.
My kitten (almost 1 year old)is doing fine and keep trying to sit in front of monitor.so sorry i have to keeo this short and there will be typo.

It's been over one year,as I carelessly brought up very heavy family matter,I wondered whether I should back with new user name. But update: 1: My niece is doing great! last year's spring, she had to stay in ICU because she got rare side effect(My sister doesn't wont talk to me detail, because I google a lot and messes up her family decision)from her father's Peripheral blood, which was only half HLA match with her.But now she is remission and going to 2 years collage! 2: I found bigger (on Tokyo standard)and much nearer to station (3 min walk!)and better equipped, well maintained apartment and could move to the room !! It's been 3 months since I moved.I still have lots of boxes, but feeling much better!! 3: As I feared,That evil landlord sent me a huge bill.Old wooden Apartment was legally trash after I lived 19 years,so I consulted government consult, online lawyers, and my friend who happened to (good)landlord, And even prepared for civil lawsuit, but I could convince them with security money I paid 19 years ago.(still lots of :/) There was lots of drama,in my life in this a few years but I'm not a drama queen! Still my new room is mess, but slowly trying to tidy, preparing for winter. My cat became nearly 2 and half years, and doing fine One thing "He"miss is,old apartment had attic he could run around, but at this point there are little thing to climb. I will try to find higher cat tower.(I have low one my 1st cat have been used. It's for sightseeing.)

Addition: Sorry about really late reply and thanks. We were really in panic back then. quietbird>Do you have garbage in your space, or just things? >Either way, if it sounds like something you can do -- jump in there for mini cleaning sessions. Whether 5, 10, 30 mins -- set a timer and do >focused work on one thing, so you don't get scattered. They are things, mostly books.I tossed half of the books (dated from 70's and I was born in late 60's!)yay! It was really huge task.It was spring on this year, and I have been almost passed out after that for a few months. Then,I found new apartment, and talked to moving company- And moved. It was August, again I got heatstroke then and have been passed out for a few months... homesweethomeThanks,he(my 1st cat)was really close to me.also I'm so proud of him for his fight for illness. def6Thank you! My new room is a bit bigger, but having less storage. So,still some of books are around..Maybe I should get rid of them. PerrinJadeThank you, rather than filling the hole,my new kitten is making hole on me physically XD emotional hole is filled with this kitten's funny way. I couldn't find Starting Again's link,so sorry for really late...

ittybittyroom - welcome back! I'm glad you got a bigger space. It's hard to be comfortable in an itty bitty room. Your kitty sounds cute, and a higher cat sounds like a good idea. I've always wanted cat shelves. They don't take up any floor space
