I just made a little "hole"in the hoard so far. I want to see a significant improvement this week. I'll go work for 1 hour this morning.

Never made it out there...but through guilt and procrastination, cleaned out filing cabinet, loaded and ran dishwasher, ate leftovers, tidied living room, went through stuff that came out of DH's truck...I'll take a break and then get out there.

If you can manage 1 hour a day it will really mount up and by Saturday you will already have worked over a half a day on it.

def6 does he want you to clear his hoard? or is it partly yours too? I wasn't sure if he was the main challenge, or both.
The difference I see in you is you jump in and actually tackle it!
An apt. neighbor and I bonded, she was an intense hoarder of new purchases on SALE (before I knew the hoarder word) "cute" things from TJ MAXX, or All the discount stores. Mirrors, every lamp shape, every pillow or coffee table knick knack, she even had piled shopping bags on bags in one corner overwhelming a chair of all things she bought, then stuck in the garage "Until..."

Hello H2H DH definitely has hoarding tendencies and I have always had trouble keeping house. I have learned how to quickly clean most areas over the years and I have learned how to defend these areas. DH does love to acquire... but you should see him in a clean cleared out space...He loves it! Sometimes I get a wild hair and drag everything out of a hoarded area just like I did Sunday. I am pretty sore today.

I have an itch to drag everything out of my garage. The forecast for Pensacola is sunny and cool for Friday through Sunday with not a cloud in the sky. I'll have empty garbage cans, recycle can and an empty curb to stack on. I'll take my donations tomorrow so that I may have an empty van to put donations in. I do have some empty space to put some things in my outbuilding now that I have cleaned it out.DH will have a cow.

Hello closetofchaosI have to take some things off my bulk pick up pile...they don't take lumber/plywood...they don't take metal doors. Well, they would take it away for $33.00 added to my water/garbage bill. I'll think about it.

If you can afford it - that sounds like $33 well spent (assuming it was a one time charge). Peace of mind, stuff out of your house, out of your way and able to park a car in the garage - PRICELESS!! PC
