A few days ago I posted my goal to toss clothes from the basement. One HUGE garbage bag - full of just old clothes GONE.
The clothes were so musty and old that my throat was scratchy after touching them. They were just trash.

I'm doing this too, though I started in December 2017. My question is, what do you do with stuff you buy? Does this decrease the amount of discarded items? And do you reward yourself at certain milestones? I'm looking for inspiration in that field.

Hi Yvette - there are no rules! Whatever you decide is how it works I count what I get rid of that is not related to daily living but is stuff that has taken up residence as clutter in my house. For example, I don’t count daily mail recycling but I go count papers that are in files that I no longer need. However you want to do it is fine.

hi Yvette and welcome! you can do this however you want, although I think for this challenge most people don't "deduct" what comes in from what goes out. I have used a "one in, one out" rule at times, but that is a separate thing for me.
Also, rewards for milestones is a great idea! Brag, brag, brag! And by all means, include your December numbers if that supports you.
Yesterday I made a small donation drop and got the address for another cousin to send her a few small items. Tomorrow will be a big milestone; the long awaited clothing consignment appt! So I'll be working on getting stuff ready for that tonight.
176 + 9 = 185 112 x 11 = 1232 1232 - 185 = 1157

mylittlescholar , I may not have to count individual burrs ; I have an ace up my sleeve later this year - the toolshed and the loft area above it. Lots of little things to go through there...Sending you hugs and motivation with your goals. I know you have a lot of different tasks pulling you in all directions pre-move. Hang in there, little pony!
Go all of us!

Thank you, mynicehome ! I'm trying to take advantage of the pulling as a kind of traction, ... hurts so good!
so the best laid plans... #wherearemykeys
anyway the consignment stuff is in the car, a new appointment is made for Sunday, and I will count it then.
Tonight I have been Santa's Little Helper. I got some holiday bags at Marshall's for 30 cents each, and I am filling them with goodies for two families that I will see this weekend and birthday parties, plus one for my folks. I won't have time to post tomorrow, being at said parties (it's enough to make me believe in astrology) (and naturally they are on opposite sides of the Bay), so I will post tonight.
I also set up five pages in my bullet journal to help me keep track. my initial page of notes is full!
6 earrings (3 prs) in the trash 5 items to make a combo hat/blank canvas/wall decor piece for my artist friend out of a huge hat and a huge floral spray 3 nesting hat boxes 1 small wooden carved piece 7 bottles of nail polish 1 in a wire basket (not sure who's getting this) 3 more bottles into trash 2 tote + purse 2 hat + scarf 1 pancho 1 weird lampshade that I used as an earring rack 2 earrings (1 pr) 100 premium gel pens (heh heh) 1 black notepad that I haven't used since 2001 1 ring 1 vintage paper umbrella 1 mask 1 kitty treat jar 1 framed double print of nautilus (original photo and photogram)--SO happy I found home for this one, and a gift for the Birthday Boy, a sailor (turning 57) --- 2 hangers 8 (4 prs) corn cob holders 1 table butler 8 napkin rings 1 book 1 cube note paper 1 bottle of salad dressing --- 1 mousy bin to trash
I'll add all this up later.

sorry for the white space, iPad got ornery.
I'm also bringing over some small pieces of my grandmother's cut crystal to my glass sculptor friend who is going to make a mobile of it. I saw some by another artist, and was asking her about a commision, and my friend was rather insulted that I didn't ask her! It hadn't occurred to me, so I think she will be pleased. I'm including an old chain belt that has really nice links. I should go check my bead stash...

Me too. I am also at 100. It feels good only half way through January. Regular trash out today.
Good thing about doing this, B dropped the knob off the lamp this morning at 5am. I found it easy. No carp on the floor!
