Still snowing. Light snow but steady.
My dog has made sure I made dinner, cleaned up from dinner, washed plastic stuff and loaded dishwasher. He also made sure I emptied my sons closet and hung everything on matching skinny slip proof hangers. Long sleeve to short dleeve. All facing the same way. Work shirts hanging together on the short rack. I got my stuff out of there and my daughter''s stuff as well. Sweaters folded on the top shelf. Sweatshirts on the next shelf.
Now to get the trash out of his room.
I also folded underwear and matched up socks. Another load in the washer.
Making a cup of herbal sleepy time tea. Think my dog wI'll drink some and calm down?

Scholar, sorry to hear about the death in your family. I'm home from my 5:30 walk, and will eat dinner soon. So...just last evening, during my phone call with my shopping friend, I told her about some of my struggles with my senior client--that I felt responsible to her animals, and also to her, because I know she doesn't have anyone else to depend on. My friend said I shouldn't consider her my responsibility since I'm not a relative, but she understood how I felt, especially about the animals, since my senior client has the capacity to try to find other people to help her, whereas the animals can't do that for themselves, etc. etc. I went to bed, was reading, and was just about to stop reading and turn the light off at 11:00 when the phone rang. It was my senior client, telling me she fell in her kitchen. She said she hit her head on a doorknob and it was bleeding. Now, she's usually very quick to get medical help when needed (and even when it isn't needed!) so I thought she was calling to tell me she was going to call an ambulance, so I would know the animals were alone and that I'd have to come in the morning if she wasn't home. But, then she was telling me that she felt fine, the bleeding had stopped, her head didn't hurt, nothing hurt. So...was she hoping I'd say, don't worry about it? I should mention here that she asks me for medical advice sometimes because I have more medical knowledge than she does. Well, I told her that any doctor would tell her to go have her head checked out, considering her age. She agreed, but she said she didn't want to go. So again I told her that I couldn't tell her everything was fine, a doctor would suggest going to the ER. She finally said that she was not going to go. I said, okay, if you're not going to go, at least make sure you stay up for a while, don't go to bed yet. I told her if her head started hurting, or if she started feeling any sensation at all that didn't feel right, she needed to go--like dizziness, lightheaded feeling, blurry vision, confusion--anything that didn't seem normal, she needed to go. She said okay. I talked to her for a while, figuring if I started hearing anything abnormal I would be able to tell her and urge her to go. We started talking about politics and she sounded perfectly alert and normal. Finally we said goodbye, and I asked her to call me first thing in the morning to let me know she was okay. When I woke up this morning I thought, if I can't reach her, I won't even be able to get into her house, because she padlocks the back door and has a screen door lock on the front, plus she sometimes puts a board under the front door knob (because she believes that someone who used to work for her has a key and comes into her house sometimes--but that's a whole 'nother story). But, she did call me this morning, and sounded perfect. She said "I had the best night's sleep last night that I've had in a long time, I feel fine!". Okay, everything's okay. THEN she says--after we hung up, she decided to sit down and read. She said she couldn't read, because the words looked funny and they didn't make sense. Okay--that's exactly what I had told her--if anything doesn't seem right, go to the ER!! So she said--I decided to put in my eyedrops and sat resting for 10 minutes, then tried reading again, and everything was fine. OMG--I couldn't believe it. So I talked to her again for a while, and everything sounded normal--I told her PLEASE if you experience ANYTHING today, call your doctor right away. She said she would. I just saw her, and she said she feels fine, she's had no further symptoms, and she showed me the cut on her head but I couldn't tell how bad it was because she hadn't washed it. So...here I am, not a relative, not someone who has any control over her, and I feel totally responsible for keeping her alive! I know that if you hit your head and cause damage, you don't necessarily have symptoms right away, but if what she described yesterday was due to a brain bleed I can't imagine her not having more symptoms by now. I know what people will ask, does she have any relatives nearby, and the answer is no. She has non-immediate family relatives in far away cities, but they're not involved in her care in any way, they call her occasionally and send Christmas and birthday cards. I asked her if she tripped over something, actually hoping that she would say yes because then I could urge her to let me help her clean up, but she said no, there was nothing by the door--and I believe her, because I actually cleaned away some empty boxes and recycling by the door yesterday before I left her house. That's another concern, why did she fall in the first place. She swears she didn't lose consciousness. Anyway, that's the story. I'm going to go figure out dinner now. Diane

when i got hit by acar and landed on my head (possibly it was indirectly on my head), it bled like a stuck pig. i had (what turned out to be) a drop of blood pressure which left me unable to move my arms and legs for a minute or 3. so i was concerned i'd done something to my spine in my neck. my eyes crossed and it was only with massive effort that i could make them focus for a few seconds at a time.for about 30 minutes. and then i had low blood pressure and low heartrate for about 8 hours (at the hospital). had various scans. other than road rash in my scalp, nothing at all wrong. no concussion. after an 8 hour rest, everything was fine and i took the metro and bus home by myself. anti climactic. so it is possible that everything is fine with your client. bumps to the head arent good and often have bad effects... that aren't signs of worse things.

i would throttle her Puppybox, that's fascinating about the crossed eyes--so some neurological symptoms can appear just from jarring your head, there doesn't have to be brain bleeding. I picture the spongy brain sloshing around in slow motion inside the skull... Was the low blood pressure because you lost so much blood? That would be a lot of blood! Diane

I don't think the loss of blood pressure happened because my head bled. i had a previous car "accident" they ran me over when it was totally avoidable and kept on going. i was not riding the bike at the time but waiting at the corner to turn. i saw them coming for me so flung myself to the side- they only ran over the bike and not me, but my one leg was under the bike which pushed down jsut a bit on the bit of leg i didnt pull out in time. i was just minorly bruised but did not bleed out. the biggest thing was the shock. i jumped to my feet and watched them drive away. i looked at their licence plate. my brain said to me "get that, you can see it, get that number". and that message didnt activate my arms. they were like dead. i told them, reach in my bag and get a pen or my phone! and they didnt get the message. that was basically the same as when i was lying knocked down the next time, unable to move my arms. i asked the nice man comforting me to touch my hand to see if i could feel it, and i could, i just couldnt move it. it was the same thing. i think it is a shock blood pressure reaction. im the kind of person who might faint if i jump off the sofa too fast so blood pressure deayed reaction function was familiar to me. also, as i was looking at the licece place, even though i could see it perfectly (it was noon on a sunny summer day) i couldnt read it. i had lost the ability to read. i could see the AYR 582 or whatever but it was like lookng at chinese. the letters and numbers didnt have names or meanings. so the 2 experiences were different but also similar. it might be a personal thing, how one reacts to a shock/trauma, my survival reflexes are AMAZing and everything else fails (to balance it out?). i've been hit other times too. once i calmly realised i couldnt get out of the way in time, so i turned my bike back towards the giant SUV and used it to push off into a dive roll. i was like a ninja. but the head bonking time was after that, theres nothing you can do about being rear ended when you are stopped.
also all the doctors and nurses looked at my blood matted hair and said "wow what a bloody mess, heads bleed a lot, you betcha" all cheerfully as if there was nothing too awful about it except mess.

Good heavens puppy, you have had your share of scary incidents! The inability to read the license plate sounds sort of like what happened to my senior client, only that happened to her about an hour after the fall, since we were on the phone for so long.
I read a book written by a physician who had a stroke at a relatively young age. She said she realized something was wrong and went to the telephone to dial for some help, and although she knew the phone number she wanted to dial, she couldn't relate the words for the numbers that were in her head, to the symbols on the keypad. Really fascinating.

Hi magda, too many meetings! Even if they're good ones, when do you have time to do any actual work?? Good for you for getting to the gym.
I'm almost ready for bed, just have to feed the cats and brush my teeth.
Good night, see you all tomorrow!

Hello everyone...I've been too quiet today, I know. You probably thought I was loafing. But no, I got into my garage. Not just for a quickie but as the English say "I got stuck in!" I'm running out of garbage can space though. So I might have to put big items in the bulk trash pick up area. I could put a 6x6x6 ft tall cube of it. Imagine that area of junk cleared out of my garage. This is where I can't list the items (or even count them) for the 2018 items out thread or what I got rid of thread...I'm just too tired to keep track. I always do this!

diane, the only difference was i never hit my head at all the time i was trying to read the license plate. it was just shock or something, my theory is the blood pressure thing, but who knows.
i did some book sorting, took a few to the book exchange bin near my house. little by little! found a place for the keepers better than the floor!
