Cleaned out bathroom cupboard
1 small bag of plastic packaging 18 scents, lotions, bath salts, etc. of questionable age. 3 tatty wash cloths which should be called wash rags Doesn't count as out but I put away the 18 roll pkg of toilet paper that was in the bathroom floor
5 expensive "miracles" that didn't work. (fancy schmancy shampoos, and cleansers)
2 dried out packets of wet wipes

Later today I am going to cull dishes. I'm not getting rid of any "sets" but I'm going to reduce the set size, I don't need place settings for 12 any more so someone is going to get a nice set of gold dishes. I will probably post it on Marketplace on a blessings group. That is where I posted some coats that I had before Christmas and I could tell that the people who requested them really needed them. They showed up at the meeting place in an old raggedy car and immediately put them on and were almost in tears. It blessed me and it also broke my heart to see people who were truly cold and without adequate clothing. I am so very blessed, I sometimes forget to be grateful.

Man, Di, You are really on a roll!! Nice story about the coats. It put tears in my eyes. That was very generous of you.

saffron, I just want this stuff gone. I would rather have room and I want to have fun. I want to sew, I want to paint, I want to be creative and I want to "play" with my doll collection. There is too much stuff "tucked back" in the areas I want to be able to enjoy. I want to set up displays, I want to decorate. So many things that I want to do have been put on hold because of tucked back clutter. I want to start reading again but there are more books here than I am comfortable with. I want to clean out bookcases so that I will feel good about picking up a new (to me) book. It's amazing how much we can tuck back out of sight that still impacts our lives on a daily basis. My paints are under my bed, getting to them would take a lot of effort so I don't paint. My sewing machine is in the closet room and is somewhat buried under projects that I will never finish. I am looking to achieve a fresh start this year in a completely functional environment. I am blessed and I not only want to share, I NEED to share.

Totally agree. !!! There is such a thing as gridlock in a seemingly clutter free home. Not that mine is clutter free yet at all, but I have gotten rid of so much already, but there is still way too much, stacked and 'tucked away', that makes functionality impossible. And there are many projects I love doing but really can't easily. I did clear out a very nice long table area in a room I call the studio, and it was so nice to have a great, free surface on which to repaint a chair - which looks great! And I want more of that freedom!
My refined goal in this thread is to collect, minimum, on average, one small/medium bag per day to be disposed of. Trash, donate, recy. That means 365 bags in 2019. Nothing yet today, but it's still early.

Hate it when I get distracted from challenges. To catch up I'd need 55 items. Right? I suck at math. I take the trash and recycling bins out everyday. So 33 items to be caught up. Ok TDK. You can do this no problem. And we're off!
12 pairs of socks 2 pairs of kids socks 2 big vinyl bags (empty) 7 pairs of pants 5 shirts 1 unopened cross stitch kit 1 bag of trash 1 bin of recycling 2 empty, big soap containers
33 items yes I'm caught up! Just was too tired to log it last night.

The more I purge, the more I want to purge. This is a VERY GOOD thing! Try it, you'll like it.
We can do this!!

Di, I totally understand. I feel the same way. How can I dabble in my hobbies, new and old, if the house is cluttered, dirty, and filled with excess stuff? I don’t want to go into panic mode when I hear my sister and BIL are stopping by on their way south, or not be able to have friends over w/o going into a cleaning frenzy. That’s always been my goal. I do believe I’m going to succeed this year because of a change of thinking. I really can do this! I may move slowly, but I’m moving. Keep up the good work. Your successes spur me on and encourage me.

This thread is a challenge for my perfectionism bc I’m not able to count all the items (my brain doesn’t work that way) so I said 6 a day min.
Im sticking with it though - old sheets went today, old note books and empty cleaning bottles.
And a bash of general household trash!
I’m still in

*It's a "family heirloom" but I can't remember who passed it down and I certainly don't love it. However it is a lovely piece and I am quite willing to have it bless someone else.
