Hello Everyone!! I just wanted to write a quick note about everyone remembering to make their Doctor, Dentist or (dare I?) Gyno and mammogram appointments. I am speaking to myself first here because I have a tendency to neglect myself on these fronts. Maybe we can all encourage each other! I got back on track with this myself when I went to the dentist and had a really good experience thus motivating me to do better. I found my calendar and then proceeded to make all of my appointments. Needless to say I have quite a few to catch up on. I hope we can all have excellent health care by making that appointment!! Now.. off to the dentist!

Yes!!!!! If we don't take care of ourselves we can't take care of others, including our homes...

This is such good advice!!! I know I have been guilty of putting the”yuckier” stuff off. I am mostly on track now and it is a good feeling.

I am terrible for this. I'll list here what needs doing.
Went this morning to the pharmacy to get asthma meds for myself and for ds. Got some for him (which I can also take as we have the same meds), but my prescription was too out of date to use. Wanted to get ds's second hepatitis jab, but there's a shortage so it won't be available until early October. He was supposed to have it mid August...
Seeing the allergy dr this afternoon for me and dd, hope that goes ok. And that she can prescribe my asthma meds.
Dd, ds and I probably ought to see the chest specialist. Takes months to get an appointment there, and usually have to go in person as they rarely answer the phone.
I have an eye test booked at the end of October. But both ophthalmologists are retiring and not being replaced so I need to take a USB stick to get all our info. And then find a new Dr. There is a massive shortage of them here, and those that there are don't take new patients. Not sure what to do...
Dd and ds both need to see a cardiologist. I have a referral letter but haven't made the appointment. I also cannot read the name of the Dr on the envelope. I guess I'll need to look up cardiologists and hope a name looks like our doctor's terrible handwriting!
Dd needs a medical certificate for dancing, though they've not remembered that I didn't give one in the summer...
We forgot our last dentists appointment and missed it. Since then we've not been, and are very overdue, ugh.
I was supposed to see some specialist about kidney stones but kept having to move the appointments, didn't have the right prescription for blood / urine tests etc. I had the scan done, but that is it. Not sure what to do about this one either, try and get back on track or leave it.
Dd has hypermobile fingers which dislocate easily. She's now worried about certain sports at school, having dislocated multiple fingers playing volleyball. I wonder whether we can get some sort of compression gloves to support them / give her back her confidence?
Ds is old enough for his own health card, I've had the paperwork for almost a year. Think all I need to do is stick in a photo and mail it. Must do that.
I also need to sort who my medical expenses are reimbursed by, it's a complex system but think I should be with a different body as my self employed status has no income and I should be linked for my small amount of paid work teaching.

I see what you mean lesaulerouge I hope you will be encouraged to get back on track starting with just one appointment. That's what it took for me. I went back to the dentist yesterday and was encouraged to keep on going with this.

Hello Everyone! I made it to my two appointments yesterday. Hurray! I will see my primary in a month. She specializes in helping her patents have a healthy weight...that's why I chose her. I bought a nice notebook to record what I'm eating and my activity level until I see her.

I need to request my records from a neurologist. I have the forms. My hesitation has been because I don't know when I went, and that is on the form (memory issues is why I went, ). However, in the next few weeks I will be unpacking my medical records, so can look that up. I see my pdoc on Nov 6th, and would like to be able to report to him that I have made that request!
I also have not been to the DDS since I have moved from CA. Need to find a new one.
I have put off a colonoscopy. I could do the other version of the test. I keep letting them expire.
But everything else is up to date, fortunately, now that I have an HMO again.

Thanks mylittlescholar I'm pretty stoked on what I've been able to get caught up on. It has done wonders for my brain to get on this. I went to my primary Doc. She told me to write down everything I eat for 1 month, also write down daily exercise. I told her that I would. She is allowing me to take the in home test instead of the colonoscopy. I was thrilled about that. I will get blood-work done tomorrow after fasting 8 hours. I got a flu shot today . I'll get a "shingle" shot at the pharmacy next time. I probably forgetting something. I'll continue to read my paperwork and arrange whatever I need to this week to comply with my Doc.

I have put things off too, but am now gradually catching up. Went to Primary & last July to Endocrinologist[for osteoporosis] & parathyroid issues that don't get worse, but stay the same. Last one had blood work done on me, but not Lipids , so I have made appt. for more bld.work this week. Been doing PT twice a week for degenerative disc disease pain. Had teeth cleaned maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago. After my trip to GA, I need to make a Dermatology appt. & one for opthalmologist. Mammogram not due til November & have to get DEXA scan then too. Had to cancel appt. with URUGYN, & remake it for Dec. Colonoscopy not due for 2 more yrs.
Even though I still have several things to do, I have at least done some catch-up so I feel a bit better about it. The twice weekly PT is helpful, but has made it hard to catch up faster on other things. It was a good idea for you to start this thread. Maybe it will give some of us a little nudge to get going !
Blessings, catcats

DH and I got the "shingle" shot since we have both had chicken pox in our youth. We will have to go back to get a booster.
