thank you so much, dtesposito, for the welcome and the good solid practical advice to keep coming back and not lapse. i will be back and try to join in every time i'm here! i can only imagine how quiet it seems without your beloved cat; they are such huge presences in our lives, even while they sleep. soft hugs to you; often you will think you see them out of the corner of your eye. this cat i have is my first pet ever and he is the love of my life. he is going on 14 or 15 (rescue) and just listening to him breathe (snore ) makes my heart skip and soften. i can't imagine how hard it is to have to make the decision but i know inevitably that hardest day comes. you had this boy a long time and he sounds like he was magnificent. thank you for caring for him so well. i did the above mentioned tasks - i turn my clothes inside out because of shared laundry facilities and fading of colors, so had a lot of turning right-side out to do. i also: took some wall quilts off their hanging dowels, put the dowels away and the quilts rolled up and put away hung a halloween quilt door decoration am soaking a pot with food stuck on the bottom. washed some fresh spatters off wall by stove from cooking lunch swiped the worst off of stovetop from lunch to do: ~ scoop litter box ~ clean bathroom sink - just the inside for now ~swish/brush inside toilet bowl ~ rough sweep bathroom floor ~ sweep traffic area in hallway in walk-in closet empty small bathroom trash can into larger trash can in kitchen so it can all go out when full kitchen looks better already. you are right that accomplishments lead to more motivation. thanks to all of you who motivate me

Well, I brought my blood sugar down 100 points today. Very cautious about my food today. Even though it is much closer to normal, my stomach still feels off. Not sure what to attribute that to.

My sleep schedule is weird right now, but at least I feel caught up, finally. Didn't get home until 2:00 Thursday morning, and now I am adjusting to GA time. I guess I should eat some breakfast!
Haven't unpacked much or done any housework, but I have had productive conversations with DXH and today I worked on "my numbers," and I am pleased at how easy it was to do, both emotionally and practically. I may or may not meet again with DXH tonight, depending if he wakes up. Our naps have always been on completely different schedules, as he worked 7:00 am to 3:00 pm for most of his life.
Overall I am feeling pretty good, considering all of the stresses. Last night velcrokitty's chin swelled up and he couldn't eat dry food--he is all better now, I think he ate a stinging insect. Poor thing! I was worried about him all night, and didn't sleep until he finally felt good enough to come up on the bed. Well, then he was making biscuits on me with his claws and then I didn't want to move, so I didn't *really* sleep until he got up,
guess I'll make dinner, clean up, and do some more unpacking.

Bought up the brown rice from Costco 12lbsWait, I thought you were buying 12 pounds of black beans? Are you buying brown rice instead? Or in addition? Black beans and brown rice are one of my favorite meals ever. Good work changing your blood sugar ohblondie. Will you be home this weekend? CC, have a good time at the talent show, although I have to be honest, that would not be my idea of a fun evening... Scholar, glad you made it back okay. ate a stinging insect.OUCH! My mouth tingled when I read that. I'm stopping now for dinner. Diane

I realize I have post nasal drip and that could be contributing to the upset tummy. I just went and got Sudafed to dry up my head.
I am ready to crawl into bed......

Ohblondie, I hope you feel better after a night's sleep.
I have a confession, I ordered a few more plants last week. I did say I would probably order once more before winter, and I couldn't resist. They came today, and they are difficult ones--lithops and two other "mesembs" which are tricky to grow--and they will be trickier since I'm in the midwest instead of a hot, dry climate--and it's winter. But I wanted to try, it's part of the learning process and they are cool plants to see. I unwrapped them, but will need to pot them up tomorrow. We'll see what happens with them.

Wow oust, you are laying in supplies for the winter with all that food. As long as you can keep it fresh and actually eat it, it's a good financial move. How does the jasmine rice taste--is it a lot different from plain white rice?

Oh yeah ohblondie, I remember my mom giving me 7-UP when I was sick!
I got a new data entry assignment today so I decided to do 30 minutes on it tonight. Just finished, and will now medicate and feed my cat and I'll be ready for bed.
Good night everyone, see you tomorrow in yet another weekend thread!

37 degrees! No wonder I woke up.
Last night we had a little production line going.
The rice cooker is 12 cups. I cooked 8 cups of brown rice and by the time it was done, the whole pot was almost full. B sealed the bags with the food saver and i weighed and filled. 4oz each. I got all in the freezer and 5 or 6 in the fridge. We had fun. It was something different its going to save time and money long term. The kitchen is fairly organized thanks to working on SOS now the point is to make the kitchen work for us. It did last night. After we finished I steamed everything before washing up again. The old rice cooker looks like new again.
