Well, I guess I am part of the Gov's emergency response team. I am on my second day deployed to a flood recovery center. Yesterday I was at a senior center and today I am in a disaster services van. So, not much getting done at home. I am 1 1/2 hrs from home and working 12 hr shifts.
Ok, there is always the weekend if I am not here.....

Oh my gosh ohblondie! thank you for your service!
Diane this is none of my beeswax, but I am wondering if you have considered that you may have an undiagnosed condition that is making it hard for your body to adapt to heat and cold? I know how much you hate going to the dr, but it does seem to impact the quality of your life. Okay I will shut up now! no need to reply.
I need an attitude adjustment. Housekeeper will be here shortly, and I have done nothing to prepare. Fortunately, last night we negotiated that if I wasn't ready, she was fine with reading a book when she got here.
DONE: caffeinate get dressed to shoes copy quotes for DXH to take to the mechanic
NEXT UP: finish am routine

Good morning!
Ohblondie, I hope you're able to come home soon, or at least, I hope you feel like you're doing some good with your new-found responsibilities.
Scholar, I don't mind your suggesting I see a doctor, I realize I'm in the minority for not constantly (or practically ever) seeking medical care.
As for the heat and cold, the heat discomfort has been since I was a child, you know how moms tell you to go outside and play--my mom would be telling me to go out on warm days and I would tell her I was too warm, I would rather stay inside in the one room of our house that had air conditioning. In winter, however, she would have to drag me in from the snow, I wanted to stay out in that all day. I think the actual physical symptoms (like dizziness) from overheating didn't start until 15-20 years ago though--although I honestly can't remember exactly. I DO remember that from early adulthood on I would get a rash on my skin from the first few strong sun exposures each spring.
As for the cold, I can pinpoint that exactly--5 years or so ago when I spent a winter here without adequate heat. Some of my radiators didn't work, plus there was a building problem that wasn't bad enough to be figured out until the next year--those things combined meant I spent the entire winter with indoor temps ranging from 59 to 61 degrees. I was also dog walking, so I was usually outside in really cold temps, or inside in 60 degrees. By the next winter I had my radiators fixed and was fine inside, but ever since then I feel the cold more in my hands and feet when I'm out in the cold--I think there must have been damage to peripheral blood vessels or nerves or something.
But yesterday was unusual, I was just generally cold as well as having cold hands, and never warmed up until evening--I was thinking maybe I was getting a cold or flu or something, but I feel fine today. So I don't know what that was.
I do think the boiler's acting weird, it doesn't go into full radiator heating mode. I'm going to check it today when the heat is running to make sure it's not doing the half-on thing again. But the temps in here are low 70s which is plenty warm enough, especially considering that I still haven't put those last 2 storms down, or finished the insulating tape on all the windows.
I have to go out in a little while to bring the boxes to the FedEx drop off, plus a stop at the library. And it's especially cold today, so we'll see how I react to that! I need to have a really productive day today since I'm getting behind again.

I didn't get the label for the 3rd book box yet but I will just worry about that later--I want to get out there and get this trip done. I'm going to dress more warmly than yesterday, apparently it's 20 degrees out there!

Brr! So, here's one thing that I have often considered mentioning: Wilson's temperature syndrome. (it would also explain stubbing you toes!)
I have barely started moving, gotta keep going!

Hi and happy Friday Diane I am like you - I hate going to the doctor. When I do go , I usually get reprimanded for avoiding doctors. I am trying to get on a good cycle with prevention care like the @def66 thread. And I am good about the dentist but I really hate it all!! ohblondie wow you are deployed? Is that something you signed up for? Or did you just come to work one day and get told that the Governor needs you! mylittlescholar bummer about the car! So I did not post yesterday. It was so horribly busy. We are way overloaded. It will be this way prob til end of year I also had to go to a charity dinner event tied to work last night. So I brought my dress and shoes and jewelry to work to change. Then at lunch, I realized I did not have much on hand for dd dinner, so I zipped to store, bought some frozen dinners, zipped home and then zipped back to work again The charity dinner was fun. I had to leave a little early to pick up DD from her activity/ my sister took her. I think at the charity dinner, my decaf coffee was really caffeinated. I was wide awake too long. So kind of tired today At work w the usuals behind me - fed cats, made bed, dishes away Now I have to really focus: my boss Is out and I have no meetings! this is a rare chance to really get things done.

Magda, that's so annoying--like they think reprimanding you is going to make the experience more pleasant so you'll go MORE often?
And isn't it ironic that it takes the boss being gone in order for you to get some work done?
Scholar, someone might have mentioned that Wilson's thing to me before, I remember looking something up a few years ago and discovering it was another one of those "conditions" that they give an official label to, when it's just miscellaneous symptoms that don't have a known cause or treatment. They do that so the pharm companies can then manufacture a drug that they can sell--whether or not it actually helps! I'm not positive that was the name though, I could be thinking of something else.
Today I dressed a bit warmer--thicker head covering and thicker mittens, and I felt like I normally do when it's cold outside--chilled but exhilarated! When I came home I went back out to put some little library books in the box, then I saw that the heat was doing that mild thing so I went down to check the boiler. It wasn't on at all, which just means that I missed the heat cycle, so I'll have to wait for the next one. Then I made breakfast, and when I'm done I will start working.
TO DO:
Finish breakfast Clean up from breakfast Move out 2 boxes of books that are next to the bed 10 minutes book sorting

I am in the disaster assistance van, my toes are frozen and I have to go to the firehouse to use the bathroom. I wish I had thought to grab my work laptop.

I have to go to the firehouse to use the bathroom.Ugh, see, that would be the first thing I would think of before going out to help in a disaster--will there be bathrooms? As the days are passing by, I'm realizing more and more things that I can change, now that the cats aren't here. I just think it's odd that they don't occur to me all at once--I've been living a certain way for so many years that it takes a while. In between my bed and the bedroom window, I have always had stuff--the same height as the bed/windowsill, so that the cats could walk from the bed to the window without having to jump on the floor. That's obviously not a problem with young cats, but when they get old and sickly I wanted things to be as easy as possible for them. The table also had a cat bed, which one of the cats used all the time. Now that I can dismantle that area, I still need a little table next to the bed, but not extending all the way to the window--plus there's another surface along the other part of the window for my lamp and phone. I could get rid of one thing, so there's more room there--every year it's a problem to reach the window to move the storm up and down. On the other hand, that wall of my bedroom is over the gangway between the back yard and the front sidewalk--so the strip of floor there is always really cold in winter. Maybe I want to return boxes of books right next to the window, that will both insulate the floor and hold the curtain tightly against the windowsill when it's drafty. Hmm. Next: Remove everything from table next to bed Remove table Clean table Pick up anything left on floor in that corner Diane

Ugh, that was annoying. When I went to push the screen up I remembered that last spring there was something wrong with the screen and I couldn't fix it, I had to sort of force it down all the way even though it seemed to be in the wrong track. Of course, then I totally forgot about it until now. I had to get a screwdriver and force the screen out of the bottom part of the track, and then it popped out of the top part. I couldn't leave the window open while I tried to figure out what was wrong with the tracks, so I just took the screen inside, I'll have to figure it out next spring when it's warmer. But the storm is down and the tape is applied. I'm leaving that corner empty until I can put the original sheet back as a curtain, it fits perfectly.
Next:
Move laundry to dryer Make and eat lunch

So I have now gone downstairs two more times to check the boiler. The minute I hear a tiny sound from the radiators and feel that they're getting a little warm, I go down--I expected to see only half the boiler working--but it's not on at all! That means it's heating up for a very short period of time, and the water isn't hot enough to heat the radiators the way they usually do.
In thinking about it, at this time of year my apartment is too hot when all radiators are on and the boiler is working normally--so I think there's a problem. I sent an email to the board member who asked me to give a boiler lesson a couple of weeks ago, so she knows about it--she can decide what to do. I don't want to be responsible for a service call expense if there's nothing wrong--and I don't know for sure.
Next:
Hang up laundry from dryer Re-hang curtain in bedroom Put table back into corner

Yay, the bedroom window is done. I must admit, I haven't washed that curtain in a few years, so that was a good thing to do.
Next:
Clean up from lunch PEEP sunporch, entryway, hallway Empty out bag from this morning 10 minutes on plants
