I just spent half an hour of constant sneezing, running nose, and hacking. If I'm allergic to something outside, I hope the snow covers it up. If it's inside, why did it just start during pollen season? Maybe because I closed windows? And why only in the morning? And why am I developing allergies the last few years when I spent my entire life without any? I'm still mourning my allergy to quinoa... Okay, time to get moving, runny nose or not. TO DO: Clean up from breakfast Put dog quilt away in closet Decide about book bin in sunporch Vacuum around small bookshelf in entryway Diane

Okay--my impression was that in the two giant bins of books under my bird cage, I had put certain categories of my keeper books, since I wouldn't want to access them for a while. Instead, I find one whole bin of "sell" books, and one bin of what are probably keeper books, but in glancing through I see some I could probably give up. That means two more giant bins of book sorting.
I will tackle the "keeper" box first so I can see if there really are any to get rid of.

Good morning Scholar, Diane and Magda! Diane - I hear that it is not uncommon to acquire allergies later in life. Wow - snow! Magda - I am also off due to the holiday but not because my work closes. Since the kids are home, I swapped days this week with a co-worker. I will be working Friday since she is working today for me. Scholar you have been busy!! I woke up at 5:15 this morning. Week days I have to get up by 6 for the kids. One would think I would take advantage of sleeping in. Well I did get some quiet time to myself as they started waking at 7:45. Day #1 of LBL 28 Day Challenge - completed my tasks for the day and watched the video Water - been working on getting a bunch of my water in early - 56 oz and counting Breakfast for me and kids Loaded dinner dishes into dishwasher and started Rotated laundry Stripped and made K's bed Cleaned out emails Swished master toilet Wiped down counters and mirror in master Fold & put away load clean towels Bag up old clothes - pulled out of son's drawers Go thru cookbooks Decided I am going to purge the cookbooks I have. I really don't use them. But I love them! I typically cook the same things or when I try a new recipe it's found on Pinterest. But I want to half what I am keeping in book form. I have 2 cubby spaces of the shelving we have filled and would like to only have 1. I found out the other day that I have basically 2 copies of the same book! It's a crockpot cookbook, but one was a newer released version. One is also a spiral bound version.

Good morning Angie! I've been looking at my cookbooks too--I have a ton of vegetarian and vegan books, as well as lots of cookie cookbooks since those used to be my specialty before I stopped baking. But I have to be practical--I don't have a working kitchen now and when I move to my sister's I won't have a "normal" kitchen either--I will have my microwave, toaster oven, crockpot and fridge in the area where I'm living. So, I would like to get rid of a lot of mine too.
I have gone through the entire "keeper" bin. I have several books to let go, they will go on the tally for my moving thread, but for next week, since a new week starts today.
Now I have to clean up in here a little and have lunch.
Diane

The points systems are outdated and we don't do WW -- just counting calories right now. But there are always things that look good to me. Problem is I bet I realistically will only find a handful of recipes in each cookbook that I might have actually cooked or will ever cook. I have some of the specialty cookbooks like freezer cooking, crockpot, etc. I got rid of a LOT in previous years. I will have to count, but I bet I have only 20 now. But seems so silly to be using up that "prime real estate" that could house something else if I don't use them.

Welcome Angie! I only have 6 or 7 cookbooks that I hardly ever touch; one is the joy of cooking which my mom had too. So mine is a kind of reminder about her. The others I never look at! I usually go on line and cook with my phone opened to the recipe page. Diane, I saw your note about your new rooms in another thread. I was just curious about which room your birds will live in? I also hope your move means you have regular access to running water and no more water pipe worries. I just went to the grocery store; it was packed- I think the crowds were from the holiday plus fears of the snowstorm on the way. Snow is starting to stick now. I dropped off some donations on the way home. Put away groceries Started a crock pot soup for dinner which is now filling the house with delicious scents Took out the trash to the outside bin I dont want to waste this day! I have to avoid the “it’s my day off” mindset, even though it really is! I am going to “hire” me to work on this house until 5 pm. So this hired help just finished lunch and now will begin her job as the maid!

I got through the cookbooks. So I had 24 total, plus 2 smaller kind, closer to a magazine size and then 1 Danish cookbook that is my husbands. I kept 12 of mine and his 1 Danish cookbook. The rest I have taken pictures of. I am going to post to our family group and offer up to sisters, mom and daughter. I will donate all or some, depending on if they want any. There were a couple that I had a hard time deciding to let go. One is How to Cook EVERYTHING. Who doesn't need that, right? But I have really only looked deep into it once or twice. It is a BIG BOOK. To keep it, I would have to get rid of 2 or 3 others. I have a couple thick ones and one that is a spiral bound. I think it is the first cookbook I had. 1989! It's a Betty Crocker that has basic info and really I used it a LOT in my younger years. I was thinking I would have my 13 yo use it to learn some basic things. Our cat River is happy about my purge because now there is an extra free cubby shelf!

Ok my maid is not that great! She did do the dishes, change the sheets, and start a new load of laundry
Then she took a break for coffee and Facebook!!
I am telling her to get back to work! Maid just realized she has teenage girl to help. So a few chores delegated to her!
Ok break over!!
