I ordered a pair of winter pajamas that were hugely discounted online today. Took just a few minutes. Didn't take long, but I can't keep doing that. catcats Welcome back to the thread. I Totally understand. Last night I just ordered a new microfiber throw too good to let pass. It was a good discount. It's a color that I like. I'm going to cut it up to cover some chairs that the cats like to sit/sleep on. Easy to wash, fast to dry, doesnt fray when cut (just some initial fluff) etc. My next mini challenge - deal with the built-up 'fluff' that's drifted on the floor at the end of the couch where I sit. Shouldn't take long. It's not an old drift. Some trash, some recy, junk mail, some keepers, a few dishes... It's unsightly and has to go.

Last night, Washed a sinful of dishes. I haven’t been doing anything after work, so altho much more dishes to do in the kitchen… that’s one I wanted to do yesterday.
Tonight’s plan: do some more in the kitchen. 5 minute challenges at a time. I’ll update later. Cd

cando--You have a stressful job. I'm sure it is hard to do very much after work. Hope your nagging headaches get better. I think the carpet sweeping the rugs is the mini challenge today. Not as good as vacuuming, but amazing just how much fur and cardboard from the cats' scratch pads gets picked up this quick way ! catcats

I think the carpet sweeping the rugs is the mini challenge today. Not as good as vacuuming, but amazing just how much fur and cardboard from the cats' scratch pads gets picked up this quick way ! I'd been having trouble thinking what a good mini challenge would be for today (so much to choose from). I've also got cats, all indoor, and there is lots of fur everywhere, and the vacuum 'wash the filter' indicator is beginning to show. So that's my mini challenge for the day - take the vacuum apart and wash the filter.... after vacuuming the hall. Thanks for the idea.

Did not get that mini challenge done. I picked up DH after work & we ate out, then he asked if I minded going to Home Depot with him for just a couple things that should only take a few minutes. He was disappointed a couple nights ago when I dropped him off to return something as he would have preferred for me to be with him… Couldnt say no to Sweet Husband & this time went in with him asking if he’d rather just go in since he had stated it would take just a few minutes? He looked surprised that I even asked & wanted me to be with him… so I did. Took much longer!! Took over an hour!! After that there were 2 items that I needed to stop & get at the grocery store close to our home. We got those 2 items quickly but by the time we got home it was 10pm.
I still would have done some dishes but as I’m putting those 2 items away… noticed lots of ants on the kitchen floor! Yikes! While I changed my clothes, DH sprayed them with something that smells strong & I didn’t want to be standing doing dishes with the ants there, so… passed out early in my bed.
I’m not a happy camper! 1st time we’ve had ants in a few years!
So, today is a new day… Cd

So, today is a new day… Cd I'm sorry you had a less than ideal day yesterday. Hopefully the ants are gone and today is better. I don't have a mini challenge for today. Think I'll just freelance and do whatever hits my fancy.

BetsyMarie ---Thank you so much for posting about buying a microfiber throw to use for cutting up for cat mini throws. I have some I could use for that. It would help me deal with fur on the upholstery. My mini -challenge today was to call the bank and AAA because I got a late notice for a bill I had paid a while ago. Things had crossed in the mail. catcats

BetsyMarie ---Thank you so much for posting about buying a microfiber throw to use for cutting up for cat mini throws. I have some I could use for that. It would help me deal with fur on the upholstery. I love the microfiber mini throws for the cats. When first cutting them, you will get some fluff just from the cut edge. I carefully shake that out either on a rug that is easy to vacuum, or inside a large trash bag. Not outside into the environment cuz I doubt they would degrade. But after the intial cut, mine have not frayed or lost more 'fluff' from the edges. I initially learned this 'trick' when cutting Costco bright yellow rags/wipes for the kitchen and they did not fray!! Then a cheapo microfiber queen-sized blanket from a discount store I cut into usable sizes. I've used those pieces for a few years and was pleased with the easy washing. They are soft and the cats like them. This bit of fashion may not reach the pages of Architectural Digest (whatever), but who cares? I'd rather have happy cats.. with easy clean-up. Oh, these pieces can look wrinkled, but they still look better than old towels, and are easier to wash and dry.

I posted this to the Working in Threes thread but it was meant to go here : >>>-start clearing small dining table, one item at a time.<<< I've decided that this is my mini challenge for today. Deal with only one item on the sm dining table. And then maybe another. I can stop at any time. I've already dealt with 3-4 items, effortlessly. Having permission to stop at any moment is very freeing. I've always known this on one level, but this is a realization on yet another. Having no hardline deadline is probably a factor - like 'having guests in 3 days'. No guests are coming, I just want it neater for me.

My next mini challenge, for however long it takes, is to clear, clean, and scrub (and while I'm in the area, cook) the stovetop and adjacent surfaces, and the wall/tile behind. This will make an incredible visual difference. edit: Much accomplished in 2 days. I did not wash the walls nor all the scrubbing..., but the stovetop area is looking so much better. For now, that's good enough.

A mini challenge for today, Thursday. Work in the dining room, which is not an eating area, but more of a miscellaneous work room. And it's gotten cluttered. So the task today is to make 3 starts in there. No specific time, just going in there and starting to work, even if it's dealing with just one item or area for one minute. There are many rich areas where I can start.

A mini challenge for me today was to rinse out some plant pots and place them and some potting soil into the shed. It was warmer today so I did that.

My next mini challenge is to quickly go through the 3 containers of stuff to go to charity that have been in the car for a very long time. This has been a sticking point for too long. When that is done, I can start adding new boxes of collected stuff to the car to be donated. Unfortunately My regular, very convenient drop off is no longer open... The new drop off requires a special trip. They do have curb-side pick-up, but the last time I did that, the very nosy neighbor asked 'what's all that stuff?' If this was my last donation, it wouldn't matter, but it won't be. Over the past few years, Ive also had several obvious larger item trash pickups that had to be left on the street for the guys to pick up. Wouldn't want to shock the neighbors too much.
