Good afternoon, checking in after day 3 of having the handyman here. It just gets worse--finding more old, disintegrating cloth wiring in the wall, and while investigating how the electrical conduits are run in the basement ceiling he called me down to see a thoroughly rusted hot water pipe connection with a few rusty drips below it on the furnace--which means it's going to start spewing water out any day! Another repair to add to the list. I'm not a big movie watcher, but I have seen a few over the years and the Money Pit came to mind.
But I'm thankful he's finding these things.
Today I did get out for a few short sessions in the yard, cutting down plants. I also repotted about 10 seedlings inside. I planted another tray of seeds since I'm not have great germination rates on a couple of plants.
I'm exhausted again...and tomorrow, first thing, we have another trip shopping for more supplies.
I hope everyone is having a good week!

mylittlescholar Oh I get so frustrated and sad and mad at myself when pictures go bad and get wet and moldy. I really beat myself up because if I had organized them and put them in photo albums they would have been ok. it is thursday - going to be an interesting day at work. Tonight I will stop at the mall on my way home to swap out a shirt of my mom's for a smaller size. I will also return some of her items that did not fit when she tried them on. And that is all I am planning to do. Anything else is icing on the cake!!

Well it is out in the universe. I had to tell two co-workers of my retirement date. I asked them to respect my privacy and not say anything until I announce it at a staff meeting next week. We shall see.
I guess I need to start decluttering my desk and the boxes underneath

Good afternoon!
Day 4 of handyman here. No obvious new problems found, however, we thought that an outlet that worked yesterday didn't work for a while this morning, and he couldn't figure out why. It turned out to be 2 coincidences--his light fixture needed to be taken apart and have the center tab raised up, AND his meter wasn't reading the power at the outlet until he took the cover off--he says he thinks the manufacturers are skimping on copper in the outlets so his meter couldn't read the power through the outlet because of the reduced amount of copper. That wasted about 30 minutes, but turned out okay. We went to Menards again for more supplies, and we stopped at Walmart on the way home. I never ran through a grocery store so quickly, grabbing heavy beverages, bread, produce and cheese--all staples that I cannot get shipped. This would be the week I would normally walk there, but this quick trip means I can wait at least one more week, probably two! More money spent, though.
He finished all the electrical work except for the bathroom fan, he's going to wait for a warmer day for that, plus he needs his extension ladder. He also got a start on the plumbing for the shower. So tomorrow he will fix the rusty pipe that he found yesterday, and then continue to work on the shower.
After that he will be back Monday--so for a change, I am looking forward to the weekend so I can rest! And get more things done. I did do one short yard session today, plus did more seedling work. Last night my shopping friend called me and talked for an hour, and she wants to call me again tonight. She's just having a terrible time, and I can't tell her not to call til the weekend, so now I'm eating dinner and will try to do a few things before she calls at 7, because I'll have to be ready for bed by then and hope we only talk for an hour or so.

Good afternoon!
Day 5 is over. Another problem surfaced, the area where the shower pan is supposed to go is not level, so the handyman will have to build it up to level before continuing, which is apparently more complicated than it would normally be, but he will work on that on Monday. Now I have two days of rest, and hopefully, good sleep, so I can recuperate from this stressful week.
Today we had snow showers on and off, so no yard work. But I did continue to repot seedlings, and I planted another tray, which meant I had to start using the downstairs plant table. Even with 3 lights there will not be enough room for all the plants.
The downstairs living room and dining room are full to the brim with buckets of tools and large machines and power tools. So, no sense trying to clean or declutter anything downstairs until the work is done. The only room upstairs that is messy is the reading room because of all the plant repotting, so I will try to clean that up over the weekend and catch up on dishes, laundry and mainly--houseplant care.
And reading. And sleep!
