Groundskeeping
Last night I finally got going on the dandelions. In today's bright light I see how much more there is to go: lots of yellow, but no white yet. I give it one more day to turn.

April progress:
This morning I took two large bags (and one small bag) of trash out. (Yay me!) A week or two ago, I had started to fill a large box with stuff to take to the thrift store, the box is now overflowing, so I'll start another. The plan is to take 2 boxes or bags to the thrift store next week (on Wednesday, when I take the cat to the groomer)
I hope to fill another bag of trash over the next couple of days.
I haven't shredded as much paper this past week, but the shredder is currently full. I expect that I can shred enough paper to fill it again in the next few days.
I have a sweater I had started knitting back in December. I had ignored it over the past month or so, I started working on it again this week.

I spent about 15 minutes in the basement, vacuuming the Breeze pellets that the cats throw out of the cat pans. I will later have to dry mop and wet mop floors down there, but not today. catcats

mylittlescholar, Happy Belated Birthday! This weeks achievements: Yesterday, while out taking cat to the groomers, I took a large box of clothing, and some random stuff to the local thrift shop Today I put out a large bag of trash out and two smaller bags. I haven't been decluttering as fast as I had hoped, and some days, I really struggle with motivation, but I am making progress, so I am happy about that. I just wish DH would notice. He keeps commenting about how much isn't completed yet. (There is still clutter everywhere.) On the down-side, I did purchase some clothing for my trip which will take place in June. I'm not sure I really needed any of it, but now it is becoming clear that I need to get rid of some more clothing that I am not using.

Hey everyone! This is another month for me that was derailed by handyman work--and, I guess, the demands of preparing seedlings for the garden. The ONLY thing I've done for this challenge is seedlings, and trying to keep at baseline whenever possible. The seedlings are doing great, I have 3 four foot long grow lights that are packed with pots, and depending on the weather forecast I hope to start planting them outside tomorrow or the next day. It's too early according to our frost date, but with the warming weather the last few years I'm pretty confident that I can put out a dozen plants or so, and be able to cover them if we get a frost in the next few weeks. If I don't put them out they will not do well anyway, because I don't have enough light to maintain them all until the end of May since they are going into larger and larger pots as they grow.
I'm actually not doing bad on keeping things decluttered, but this is partly because the handyman has been coming out every 3-4 days so I have that in the back of my mind--hopefully I will continue once all the work is done and I have no visitors!
I am loving reading what you all are doing--remember, small steady progress over time is better than big spurts that use up your energy and make you give up. So doing little bits is okay as long as you keep trying.
And scholar, I love your charts!!

No plans to do anything major in the house for these last two days of the month. . Mostly just re-group and catch-up from all the activity for the last four days where we hosted a mini- family reunion. In addition to our own, we had two regular beds and three air mattresses in use and two extra bathrooms. That is a lot of dirty bed linens and towels. Not to mention all the plates and flatware that were pulled out because I don't have that high a volume of dishes in my regular cupboards. . And, I didn't do our regular clothes laundry this past weekend so need to catch up on that as well. 1) Group coming are all tremendous foodies and some are actually professional chefs so things I use rarely will be getting work out - need to be clean and accessible including an outside grill, etc. We did get it all ready but it was a feat - tripped the circuit breaker and had to have an electrician figure it all out - got it working but going to require a more long term fix. Also cleaned out a bunch of stuff in the kitchen and pantries - I was glad I did because we had people going into every nook and cranny. Found out I had a working food processor - who knew? 2) Need two guest rooms/bathrooms fully available and likelihood of an air mattress in our office. Yes, yes and yes - people everywhere! Of course, our washing machine broke down in the middle of last week - lots of delays and adjustments needed!3) Some purchasing of various items - have to finish this week because I need time to get it delivered. A bunch of stuff came in including a new bed that I had to put together in our guest room. Multiple weeks of very full recycling bins including yesterday.4) Hire some workers for various tasks. Yes - did a bunch of tasks and I also ended up with having to use, giveaway or dispose of 100s of pounds of citrus from my trees that were stripped. 5) Get out a bunch of things that go to donation or speciality recycling. Multiple back seats full of bags of bags, e-waste, donations and glass recycling. E-waste was the BIG item - we had many boxes of stuff pulled out of the home office - at least 8 bins/boxes. All was evaluated and combined like with like - returned to the home office in an organized fashion, returned to the regular office, donated or put in e-waste. BIG effort! This is all complicated because DH has my terrible cold so he isn't very helpful and probably won't be for at least one week. And, I do need to care for him a bit. Also, my work was all delayed due to not being well so I have lots of catching up to do in that regard. DH's big cold then turned into a horrible pulled back - maybe from the coughing? He did almost NOTHING the entire month. And, I had to add on all of his daily/weekly tasks along with providing him a bit of care. NIGHTMARE! Anything that required bending at the waist was on me. I did a MAJOR clear out of the cat litter closet as well as keeping it clean afterwards. I moved everything needed from all the rooms for cleaning including clearing out the garage so they could do the floors, clearing out a guest bed so it could be replaced and lifting two mattress sets for putting on dust ruffles or headboards, and organizing a bunch of stuff in the basement including bringing many, many things up and down the stairs.Another big task that I had upstairs was hanging a bunch of pictures, etc. - ended up hanging close to 40 pieces. There still is a lot in the basement that requires more work but glad to have those few bins out of the closet and onto the walls. All in all a very successful month - BUT I'M TIRED! Much less activity will be planned for May! And, DH will need to help! PC

Of the 4 challenges that I wrote down, I did some work in the basement---but not all. And much work on Mocha's coat---but not all. And more on Tim's stuff.
Didn't get any yard work done. I did do some extra things which I had not planned on, but altogether not enough of the challenge work. I have an important appointment tomorrow, so likely this is the last day of challenge work for me.
