Ok, I know I'm not the only procrastinator here. So I present to you, the "One-A-Day" Challenge. I challenge everybody to choose something they can do once a day to improve their living situation. It can be something as small as emptying the bathroom trash, to clean the living room. For me, I find if I break down large projects into smaller more manageable pieces, I don't feel overwhelmed. These tasks can be as simple as you want them to be and should ideally take between 5 and 30 minutes tops. If you want to work longer then thats great! All you have to do is "one a day"!
I'll start:
Today, January 6, 2009, I want to put away the pile of shirts on my living room couch.

I use visualization a lot. I say to myself-today I want to wash the floors in the kitchen and bathroom. I picture nice clean floors and it gives me inspiration/ incentive to get down on my knees and scrub!

yay for accomplishments... i got the pile of shirts put away and then put away the underwear and socks, as well as cleaned up the immediate area around my recliner chair.
On Wednesday, I want to tackle the pile of stuff in front of the living room couch and find it a home.

I folded a load of laundry that had been sitting in the dryer for several days. I washed and folded a load of sheets that had been soaking in the washer for a couple of days. (But they don't mildew because I use bleach.)

Annie - welcome to stepping out of squalor. I'm glad this thread can help you. As you can see, the goals i set for myself are very attainable and i believe you will set attainable goals for yourself too!
Got through most of the pile in front of the couch, organized it into a keep box and tossed what wasnt needed.
Goal for 1/8/09 - put away laundry in basket, and address second pile in front of couch, mostly clothes.

Hi Puppybox & Phoebe - thank you for the welcomes.
1. Today I came here again. 2. Today I posted.
Hopefully I will do some more today.
Well, I kind of feel like I am still recovering from Christmas. It was TOUGH. I also know that my eldest daughter & her family (husband & 4 year-old) will be back home from their family vacation on Sunday, & so this is really some good quiet rest time for me. As soon as they get back into the state (they live 40 minutes from me) I will have to be back on my toes & ready for whatever action they come up with to keep me busy. So I'm not going to let myself feel bad about not throwing myself full tilt into the year just yet. Woo!
3. Didn't let myself feel bad.
Congrats to all for your successes!

I have found that I won't do goals, schedules, or lists. They do not work. I just have to get up and DO something at the time it's in my mind. If I sit there and think about what I want to do, it doesn't get done. Back in a minute...there, I put the load of whites from the washer into the dryer. ( I just remembered that I put a load in the washer so hubby can have clean T-shirt when we go to Durango, Colorado to finally get my teeth at 12:15pm today!)
