Hi Ican -Ayup, 28 throw pillows. I wish I had taken a photo of the whole lot before beginning the reductions, . Truly, the laundry room was looking like a pillow factory. Thank you for the cheers. Woooo, & I am so proud that you pitched out a throw pillow on my behalf. Yayyyyyy. Good jobs with the garbage, recycling, & compost. Regular 'refuse patrol' is such a key to keeping the overwhelm at bay. Yayyyyyy. And HUGE CONGRATS on getting your taxes moved along!!! Such a tough area for many of us. YOU CAN DO IT. Yayyyyy. And I definitely consider it part of household organization. Everything feels better once the taxes are off the mind. Keep up your good works! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi Marigold -Too bad I didn't think of a party before dumping a bunch of my pillows OUT. I suppose we'll all have to settle for throwing sparkly confetti, woo! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tuesday: Washed, dryed, & significantly reduced Throw Pillow Mountain. Some went away, some are clean & in a neat pile waiting for younger daughter to make any selections she might want when she returns at weekend, & some have been chosen to remain. I need to count the remaining ones so I will know how well I really did, but I can say all the keepers have removable covers, woo. Um, then I found 4-5 little ones that are combo of stuffing & lavender inside, pillow sachets as it were. Have to figure out how to clean those, as they will most likely be kept. Also realized all of the above are bedroom pillows. Living room has 8 more throw pillows, eeekkk, but they are fine at this time, exhale. Fell asleep immediately after dinner, which is why I never made it back to Chat after my last challenge. Figured out why I had felt fatigued the last few days; menses was about to befall me. Yep, after fighting it for days, I succumbed to a rather early bedtime. Today, Wednesday: Put into dryer the washer load left in washer from last night. It was bleached items, therefore no issues from overnight stay in washer. Then I vegetated, slept, & vegetated some more. Will be back in action tomorrow, especially after reading Lilith's wonderful post to Yearning4Order, in which I was once again reminded: Motivation FOLLOWS Action. I think I need to write that in big black magic marker on the front of my refrigerator! Thank you, Lilith. And To All Posters: remember, you just never know when something you post will be read by someone who needs those exact words at that very moment in order to make all the difference to their life. For Tomorrow, Thursday: 1. Finish reclamation of that laundry room. I've been purging a lot of misc. stuff from in there during my current laundry fest, so hopefully this will be last day of the major overhaul.

Finish reclamation of that laundry room. I've been purging a lot of misc. stuff from in there during my current laundry fest, so hopefully this will be last day of the major overhaul. ... Lilith's wonderful post to Yearning4Order, in which I was once again reminded: Motivation FOLLOWS Action. And To All Posters: remember, you just never know when something you post will be read by someone who needs those exact words at that very moment in order to make all the difference to their life. AnnieBlue, Hooray for you for reducing 'throw pillow mountain', purging misc stuff, and doing laundry! Woo-Hoo! Blue, you are so right about what you said about how you never know how the words that you post might be just the something that someone needs at that moment. It has been that way with the words that you have posted here on this thread, AnnieBlue. Your encouragement has often been just the right gentle support that I needed to motivate me to go ahead and do one action. And doing that one little action has sometimes ignited that little spark of motivation and fanned it into a flame of productive work - so I could get more things done. These 'one-a-days' have added up. They are what is keeping my house maintained. (I mean, of the sections I have done.) And occasionally I'll have spurts of energy and will get more done. It feels good when that happens. That is what happened today. I was thinking about how I needed to do my taxes. I've been putting it off. I did get a little done yesterday. Not much, but enough to break the 'inertia' barrier. (What helped me with that, is before I started on the actual work, I told myself: ... "All I'm going to do is just get it out and set it on the table. I'm not going to do any work on it. I'm just going to put it there so it will be there when I'm ready to do it." ... And after it was sitting there, I decided to go ahead and do a little bit of it yesterday.) Then, today, I thought, "Darn, need to get back to it. There is still lots I have to get done. I sure don't feel like doing it." "Hmmm ... I wonder, since I just read what AnnieBlue posted about how motivation follows action, maybe if I just pick up the piece of paper with the tax info I need to input and simply glance at it and then put it back down - at least I could do that - maybe that might help." ... so, that's what I did. Except after I picked it up, I didn't put it back down. - - - I actually thought to myself then "well, I could input just this one page of this tax stuff in the computer, - it wouldn't take that long if that's all I did." ... so, I did that, and then I got on a roll, and I did the whole dern thing (as far as the computer input part of it goes)! So, yeah, I'd say that motivation follows action! Thanks for writing and reminding me of that, Blue.

Hi Ican -These 'one-a-days' have added up. Soooooo TRUE. And I am so happy it works so well for us both! On these last days when I've not felt 100%, the thought of not having at least one thing to post has been what motivated me go ahead & do something. I LOVE how you detailed how the Motivation FOLLOWS Action process happens! And I love that it worked for you on getting your tax info into the computer! Wooooooo Hoooooo! Are you going to file them online, or fill out the paper forms? Either way, here's hoping you get it moved along & completed soon. You will feel soooo GOOD to have it off your mind! Go-Go-Go! You can do this!!! Keep up your good works, & thank you for helping me keep up my own! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For Tomorrow, Thursday: 1. Finish reclamation of that laundry room. Hahahahahahaha, THAT didn't happen. I had a migraine, maybe from new meds + menses + virus? Blech, & I just couldn't go-go-go. Still feeling it. But I did do - Thursday: Kitchen maintenance - dishes, counters, & stove cleaned.Friday: Reduced by one large box the amount of 'To Go' things currently residing in front room. Younger daughter returned to go through this stuff & found herself a boxful of wantables, woo. For Today, Saturday: 1. Lawsy, I WILL get back into that laundry room. Am logging self into Chat right this very minute!

Saturday: Went into Chat & continued the reclamation process of laundry room. Continued working there after Chat until a few minutes ago at approx. 1:30am my time. I am almost to the end of that seemingly endless job, woo. For Today, Sunday: 1. Same as yesterday, back to laundry room doings.
For Tomorrow, Monday: 1. Back to front room emptying. Best to all in the rest of your weekend plans!

I sure hope that you will feel better soon! You have done great on getting those things done! Today, I was gone almost all day. For my one-a-day, I: - filed, threw away, and shredded various papers and catalogs Now, it's late & I'm tired so I'll get some sleep. Thanks!

Hi Ican - I am feeling much better now, thank you. CONGRATS to you on handling more of your paper jobs! It was GREAT getting to work with you in Chat! Hope to do so again when you can make it in! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Sunday: Laundry Room Monday: Laundry Room & misc. other. Tuesday: Laundry Room, Front Room, & misc. other. Wednesday: Laundry Room, Front Room, & misc. other. As can be seen above, I focused a lot of attention on the laundry room these last days, & even though I had expected the reclamation of that room to be finished LAST Thursday, it IS finished as of last night, Wednesday, woo. This means no more struggling in there until time to do the actual renovation/painting of walls, baseboards & ceiling. It is cleared & it is staying that way. Also, along the way these last days, I spent time trading off & working in front room as well as other misc. small jobs. This was due to playing the dice game in Chat. It was really nice to not be stuck in one room on one job all that time. I have now also gotten started on reducing the amount of 'To Go Away' stuff in the Front Room - the stuff that ended up there from other rooms. I'll now be able to focus on the Front Room & Doom Room again. When needing to trade off (have a break) from those two rooms, I have a lovely (not!) utility closet in need of a major overhaul. Oh my, stuff is STUFFED in there & now a bunch more of it has crashed to the floor. Should be a blast. Ha! For today, (later) Thursday: 1. Front Room & Doom Room, woo. ps: No new grandbaby yet. Daughter is due (40 weeks) on the 15th. Doc says she probably won't go that long (who ever 'does' go 40 weeks?) So I am still expecting the call & 2 week visit of 5 year-old grandson any day now, any day now, any day . . .

Um, remember earlier today (1:30am my time) when I said I would be doing the Front Room & Doom Room today, & also said I am waiting for the 'new grandbaby phone call' any day now, any day? Well, today is the day, . But of course. Daughter is going in tomorrow, Friday, for a scheduled c-section, therefore the new boy-child will be here & hopefully ready for visitation at some point in late afternoon. Sooo I will NOT be working in Front Room & Doom Room TODAY, woo! Yep, I am a very happy camper when Doom Room plans have legitimate reasons for falling through, heh. Today I will take myself into the bathroom to spa myself, & I so need it, as I'll not be able to do much of that while 5 year-old big brother is here for his extended stay. Lawsy he will run me like a machine. Please send good thoughts for all to go well, & I will talk with everyone when I can. I do intend to get at least some work accomplished over the 2 weeks. we'll see how I do. Love to you all. And keep up your great works!

Love this one a day thread,as I just joined recently it will take a while to read all the posts but what I have read is very cool. I think my one for today will be to sort one box of stringy stuff from move that is still left. It seems the hardest vs a large box of specific things like kitchen dishes or clothes, these boxes are always the worst. The end of the road. Blecch

Hi Ladeschaine - How did you do with your stringy stuff? I assume that would be more yarn. Great to see you on the 1-a-day thread! Use it whenever you need to get a bit done & don't really want to. Or, as often happens, use it to get started on one thing & let it progress to other things from there. Whatever works for you, WORKS, yayyy! It's been nice chatting, getting to know you, & working together in Chat. Hope to see you there when I finally get back to my regular dehoarding schedules! Keep up your good works! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hi Ican - Thank you so much for the baby well wishes. He has arrived as expected, with one day notice to all, , & is doing well. I've kept track of my days, below, so I can have the record to add to my master timeline of my efforts this year, therefore you'll see how it went through his arrival. He was 5-lbs 10.3-oz, which was again as expected, as my daughter is tiny herself. The biggest blessing throughout is daughter's pregnancy going so normally, & a healthy baby at the end of it. This is not at all how it went with first grandson, as he has a metabolic disorder which brought great distress all along the way & well into his first 2 years. He is normal & healthy now - other than lifelong meds, periodic monitoring, & specific dietary restrictions, but it was a long road getting there. For daughter & son-in-law, as well as the entire extended family, it has been such a great relief that new baby doesn't have the disorder & everyone can just relax & experience the normal progressions of having quiet time with baby at home right away. And for me in particular it has been extra-extra special since he was named after my father who passed in 1997. They didn't tell anyone his name until we came to meet him first time in hospital. Now I know why. They wanted to see me cry like a baby, . And I did. It was great. Hoping all is well with you, & that you are keeping up with maintenance & taking stabs at the additional jobs! Yes, I know "You Can!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Thursday: Received call regarding delivery of grandson scheduled for Friday, then spa'd self in preparation for upcoming days, exhale. Friday, April 3: New grandson born, went to to hospital to see him in evening. Saturday: Back to hospital, held baby twice for good long periods, woo, then stopped at grocery on way home (late) & put groceries away when finally home. Sunday: Vegetated self, ha ha ha ha ha. Also put away all the traveling stuff we had accumulated during visits to hospital. Monday: Did house maintenance & freshening for 5 year-old grandson's arrival tomorrow. Will later do some Easter prep & decorating, as he will be with us most of the day on Sunday, with probably a short visit to his house in early evening. Tuesday, April 7: Grandson arrives to live with us for who the heck knows how long at this point, . Wednesday: My mother's birthday, so we will see her for that probably some time over the weekend/Easter. She lives a good distance away as well as daughter & family. ***Do maintenance & extra jobs every time I possibly can.*** Will hopefully empty, sort, pitch, & organize utility closet while grandson is here. It is crammed full & I imagine he will have lots of fun helping me with it - getting to play with all the tools & other misc. junk. Funny how we are so determined to declutter/dehoard/desqualor our homes while all of that same junk can be quite delightful for kids to get into, .

I cleaned out my linen cupboard, and ended up getting rid of 2 large black bags and a banana box full of old sheets. When we emptied mils house, all her towels etc went into the linen cupboard, and it has been a mess forever now, so did it yesterday, thought it would take me hours, only took about 40 minutes. We all have double beds now so threw out all the single sheets, and sheets that dont quite fit anymore. I keep going down the hall and just admiring my handiwork.

Hi LaDeschaine - I love your new 1-a-day choice! GO-GO-GO, YOU CAN DO THIS! And now I will be asking you about it in Chat all the time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hi LouiseRae - I surely do know the joys of cleaning out the linen cupboard, wooo for you!!! I did mine since joining here, & most all of it took place during 15 min. challenges in Chat. CONGRATS!!! And keep on ENJOYING IT!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~My Update:Older grandson (age 5 & WILL talk your head clean off, ) has gone back home now to his parents & new baby brother, therefore I will be back to daily work on my house tomorrow, woo. I am actually excited to do so, especially after being INSPIRED by new member, Souggy, to return to my minimalist aspirations, yay! Thank You Again, Souggy. We'll see how I do.

I'm kinda late to the party.
it's a little more social to come here and break out of the Blog. only a few people come there -- and it seems a little memememe at the moment.
let's see. Today, I:
threw out two bags of garbage. plus a black bag from last night. and the flat cover for an enormous wicker trunk (2' x 3 1/2? feet). Yay! TADA!!
and put away dried dishware. and made a fresh pot of green tea.
and put the dying roses in a jar, preparatory to making rosewater.
and cleaned the tub with citra-solv. and the bathrm. sink.
took a bath meditated for an hour and a quarter (that's good) and did lesson etc.
ate some vegetable some fruit. got bandaids on the foot blister and phone in the bag . no real exercise. got my butt out of the house. yay. whew.
