Evening, folks!
I'm sorry about your friend, artsy! My oldest friend is in the hospital right now, too. We've been friends for, literally, fifty years, and have plans for ten years from now to go sit on a park bench in Key West and listen to Simon and Garfunkel's "Old Friends," because we are. I hope both our friends recover fully, soon. Best wishes to your Mom, too.
Yes, creativechaos, the Quilts of Valor organization wants either the piecer or the quilter to make a "presentation case"--essentially a bag with a strap to go around it--for the quilt when it's given to an injured member of the armed forces. This one is turquoise to match the quilt binding, with a red, white, and blue ribbon closure.
DONE: -dinner and cleanup after -loaded and started the dishwasher -important phone call
TO DO: -everything from last time except the phone call -take evening meds

Hi everyone, I've been away from my computer a lot thanks in large part to the weather here. We had a tornado warning on tues night, and a tree fell on our house and put a (thankfully small) hole in our roof, and knocked down our chimney. The tree landed partly on the power line, and I started frantically washing as many clothes as I could, in case it snapped the weatherhead from the house and I'd have a hot humid house full of sweaty male clothes to live with for days. So I have a lot of laundry to fold now, but very little needs washing. We got the part of the tree that was on the power line removed by the power company before it snapped, thank goodness. The hole in the roof is over an area where we have an extremely cluttered closet. Since we are supposed to have an 80% chance of severe storms with heavy rain tonight, I might be working in that closet on an emergency basis. Our roof is slate, and very, very steep. It was too windy for the roofer who came by today to get up there at all safely. So there isn't even a tarp over the hole. Hopefully the steepness of the roof will keep most of the water out, but the hole is right at the crown of the roof. Anyhow, after that long rant about my roof, here's my Ta da's for this evening: 1) Folded 3 loads of laundry. 2)Made sure all of our flashlights have working batteries, and that they are easy to find in pitch dark conditions. Tues night brought home to me the importance of this. 3)Made sure my son knows where his shoes are, so he can find them in the dark, in case we need to go into the basement again tonight. To do's: 1) Pick up toys that could be a tripping hazard if we are without power again. 2) Put batteries in son's old Pixter and small radio, in case they are needed for entertainment and information. 3) fold more clothes. I am so very sick of severe weather this year... Everyone here is doing a fantastic job. See you in the morning.

Sorry to hear about the severe weather! And the friends/family with health issues... prayers to all. I didn't accomplish a whole lot of ToDos today... ended up going out shopping instead. But I did enjoy myself. TaDa: Had a tasty healthy lunch while out Purchased towels for bathroom & posted "after" pics once they'd been washed/dried (finally!) Tidied bathroom before taking pics (counter cleared, floor swept) There may be other TaDas I'm not thinking of but they'll do for now. I really just felt like taking a nap all day so I guess that's part of the reason why I had to get out of the apartment! I still did end up taking a nap... guess I needed it. ToDo: Go to bed & try again tomorrow

Teachergrl, those are great TADAs after how hard you worked to get done with all the end of the school year stuff. laughinglark, I am so sorry about the weather, the roof, the roofers, the closet, and all of that. A wise woman, indeed, to start washing clothes. I probably would have gone down into the cellar. I'm not big on natural disaster adventures. Glad you had the presence of mind to think of what needed to be done, and to do it. TADAs: 1. Went and photocopied paperwork 2. Price comparisons at big box stores 3. Did not buy anything. A TADA as it means there is not more stuff in my house. TODOs: 1. Brush teeth 2. Put sandals I have already kicked off and clothes away before going to bed. 3. Put away clean dishes from dishwasher during commercials. -probably not in that exact order -- . 'night/morning all WestsideStory
