Hi MomsPearl My deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mother I have personal experience with difficulty getting up and getting dressed etc. It's a real challenge, people here understand and are rooting for you. Together we can have more comfortable homes

I also have emotional attachments to things: clothes, toys, especially STUFFED ANIMALS. Once one of those things look at me with their glass eyes I can never get rid of them. I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT and do not walk down the stuffed animal aisle in stores or I would want to buy everybody or start crying in the store. I KNOW....THAT'S CRAZY. I know they are cloth, stuffing, and glass, but my brain does not process that. They might have feelings if I toss them (that looks NUTS to even type). If I give them away they might not be loved as much as I can love them. AGAIN...NUTS. THEY ARE JUST TOYS

not nuts hfh. as a child i used to save money so that i could go to trash sales and buy all the ugly, defaced dolls. you know the ones. little brother cut half her hair to the roots....i'll buy it. permanent marker scribbled all over her face....yep i'll take her. eyeballs poked in, eyelashes ripped out, fingers and feet chewed by dogs. i bought them all, cos i just knew no one else would love them!!! duh! why the hell would they? they'd be lined up on shelves, along the floor, the length of my bed. mum was terrified. hehe. i still have an awful lot of trouble sending any toy out the door, unless i know it will be loved. i am about to donate a large amount of stuff to families with autistic children, and feel really good about that. it's not done yet though.
good luck.

Dear MP or Gwin,
So glad to meet you! and congratulations for beginning again to gain a little clarity over your "things." So sorry to hear about your Mom. I hope everyday the pain of your loss will gradually be replaced with sweet memories you have of your time together.
