Bessy - you are doing a great job! Sounds like you had a bit of structured procrastination going on... in order to avoid the living room, you started on the kitchen! This can be a wonderful tool to use.
I firmly believe that you should do what your itching to do - not necessarily trying to force yourself to do what you think needs to be done.
Just keep up the momentum and keep moving forward! Eventually you will work your way to the living room!

Well today DH was doing a few thing that I wasn't able to do since I had to go to work last night. I had asked him to remove the things from under the kitchen sink since we had previously had a leak. We had thought the leak was fixed but he found it was still there. He decided to fix it. Somehow the glue did not hold and the water line blew up. If anyone has ever had a 3/4" water line blow up, you know that a little leak become a HUGE mess very fast. He got the water turned back off and fixed the leak again. This time it held and now it was time to clean up the mess. Luckily nothing was damaged and only needed a lot of wet vac work. Now the cabinet under the sink is cleaned out and so is the cabinet next to it since it had water in it. The cabinets I have are solid wood so no particle board to swell and warp. We are planning on tearing this part of the kitchen floor out since it slopes badly and now it will be easier. One wall to ceiling cabinet will also be removed along with part of an L shaped center island type cabinet. This will open the kitchen area up to make it look bigger and actually make more usable space. All of this was planned for a future project but nothing like a little leak to move things along at a quicker pace. The funny thing about this was that I slept through most of this minor catastrophe and woke up just as he was cleaning up.

Yahooo to you Bessie for all you have achieved so far. Well done big time. If you are in USA and work nights you will ofetn find me in chat because of our differing time frames. I too need frequent shoves to get moving.
Big yahoo also to you for sleeping through the drama. Oh yeah. Its nice to have someone else solve the problems sometimes.
Hope to see you in chat soon.

I am still cleaning in the kitchen but have made some progress. In my cleaning endeavors I have decided to toss out all the "squatters". In my case so far these are the plastic "butter bowls" that DH has been saving to use as storage containers since they will go from the freezer to the microwave. So far I have tossed around 50 and still finding more in strange places. I will keep a few of them and he can use them in the garage bu they will not be coming back into the house. I will purchase a set or 2 or stacking plastic kitchen containers with lids and he can learn to use one of the 2 vacuum sealers we have for things going into the freezer. I never knew we had so many "squatters" masquerading as dishes. My box of freecycle items has become a donate box as I am tired of waiting for people to come get their new to them items. I am also declaring a war on mice. I am finding mouse droppings everywhere and even found a couple snake skins. Last year we found a 5' rat snake wandering around the dining room. I didn't realize there were so many mice in here. I have not seen any running around but I am finding droppings. The snake doesn't bother me but the mice do.
I will start organizing the kitchen AFTER I finish tossing things so I know what I need to find homes for and how much space I actually have. You really can have too many cabinets.
Maybe this weekend (Thursday, Friday and Saturday night) I will finally get the kitchen finished so I can start on the dining room.

Well the rat snake could have sorted out the mice in time but DH didn't know it was harmless(wild snake not a pet). He killed the guy/gal and told me about it after the fact. Hes not afraid of snakes either but a rat snake looks like a ground rattler until you turn it over and see its belly. They are also aggressive when startled so I didn't fault him. He said he was not going to flip the thing over to see if it was harmless or not

Whoa, 5' wild snake Bessy you are braver than I am, especially since they look so much like rattlers! Glad your DH was able to get the leak fixed in your kitchen. Good on you for tossing the "squatters" aka butter bowls.
