Well here it is almost a week later and my gadget drawer is still a mess. Guess it will have to stay that way for a little while. Things so hectic right now. I did however sort out a couple of boxes in my guest room so I could get it ready for my daughter who is visiting week after next. My brother is still in chemo and radiation and I will be staying with him for a few days while he needs me.
The main thing I can offer anyone is to just take one day at a time and pick one little thing you can do. Don't think about what you can't do. One bag of trash, one box of junk, one sink of dishes, etc., and when you take care of that one thing you will feel more like doing more.
When I get to my gadget drawer I will post the process. Probable won't be for a week or so.

Gadget Drawer,
I spread out a plastic tablecloth on the floor and dumped out all of my gadget drawers, 5 of them, out onto the floor.
I sorted out all of the gadgets and put all the ones that I use regularly into one of the top drawers.
Tools, etc. went into another drawer.
Measuring spoons and baking needs into another.
Misc occasionally used into another.
Rarely used in the bottom.
Not used in the last 6 months into a box to give to goodwill, or the trash.
Gee I had a lot of room in those drawers now.
I don't know why I keep dumb stuff, I guess it is just hard not to take a freebie, or sample. And even harder to throw something out that is good. I have learned that if it contributes to my clutter no matter how useful the item is, it is bad for me.

BTW, when I do the pour out and sort I do it in the TV room. I have some TV show on usually "Clean House". That show has been my salvation. :-)
