Thanks! It is indeed a wonderful feeling...the place still isn't perfect by any means, but its a night and day improvement. Its a great feeling getting home from work, or waking up in the morning, to a clean, spacious, fairly organized place instead of a huge disaster area of a mess. It really has improved my mental state too, I don't feel so depressed or burnt out. I'm really going to try to change my habits, and devote some time every week to maintaining & improving my apartment.
I got all the reward I wanted yesterday - a notice that they were renewing my lease. Rent's going up $15 a month, but it sure beats moving!
Finances are a still bit tight at the moment but I think I am going to buy a grill this weekend and cook out ...I'm looking forward to that. I never would do that when my place was so messy, for fear of drawing attention to my kitchen. (I used to keep my kitchen door closed all the time, with a ton of stuff piled up against it).
*edit* - just got invited to a weekend cookout, but I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead and buy a grill anyway! Although I have had a few grilled steaks, burgers, and dogs lately, I haven't had any grilled salmon or tuna in a long time, and boy do I miss it.

Slothzilla if you have any of your stamina and fortitude left over (that you may not need of course!) send it my way pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeze....I contacted furniture store...delivery will be Sunday, July 12th between 12 to 5 PM! I'm totally freakin' out now! This is heavy solid oak furniture and wanted to wash the carpets before delivery since I will be totally inable to move it myself. Now how do I empty a room when there is no other room to put it in? Will probably need to take July 10th off work as well to get this all together!
Thanks for the support from everyone here and keep up the good work Slothzilla you're definitely an inspiration to me! Hope I'm not hijackin your thread...I just have diarrhea of the mouth when I'm stressed.
Thanks again Slothzilla! Although now it may need to be changed to GO-zilla!

Hi Juniper2,
"GO-Zilla" ...hmmmm, I like the sound of that!
No need to worry about hijacking the thread, I'm glad to hear that things are moving forward for you.
At the risk of stating the obvious, here are a few suggestions for your situation:
Have you considered hiring a company that hauls away stuff, such as 1-800-Got Junk? they can be pricey, but it might be worth it to make room for your new furniture.
Another option is to list it on Craigslist, under "free". If your old furniture is in decent shape, I bet someone would come get it from you in a heartbeat.
And of course I'm sure you've given this thought already, but do you have any friends with a truck? Could they drive your old furniture to a thrift store, or to a dump?
It seems like I heard somewhere that Salvation Army will actually send a truck out and pick things up from residences, if its a sizeable donation. That might be worth looking into.
Sometimes I see discarded furniture on the curb in front of people's houses, and often passers-by will stop and take it (I've actually gotten some furniture myself this way). Would that work in your neighborhood? Could you get someone to help you take it to the curb? Or is a yard sale with 'giveaway' prices a possibility?
Hopefully you can be rid of the old furniture in time to clean your carpet, and have it dry, by the time your new furniture is delivered. I know you'll find some way to work it out.
Good luck!
*edit* - I checked out some Salvation Army websites and they do indeed send out trucks to pick up donations ."Call 1-800-SA-TRUCK (1-800-728-7825) to discuss a pick up of your items or to find out the nearest drop off location." - hope this helps.
