Another similar "symptom" I have: while at work, and seriously all the way to my front door, I feel totally charged and motivated to get stuff done at home. As soon as I step through the door, motivation is generally gone, and I can think of 20 less productive things I'd rather do. I'm getting better at follow through but it's hard work!

Hi Everyone ! Thank you so much for all the get-well wishes! I really do appreciate them all. Being sick is bad enough, but being stuck inside an apartment that would probably qualify for federal disaster relief funds makes me feel even worse. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in wanting to clean when I'm least able to do so or at other times when it's simply not possible. I was beginning to think it was some bizarre, previously undiscussed symptom of the evil flu that's making the rounds. And, of course, the way my mind works, I began to think, "Well, if this is some strange and yet-to-be discovered symptom, what's next? A craving for the food served in school cafeterias? A desire to shave my head, tattoo my scalp, and listen to death metal?" No, the list I came up with wasn't at all pretty. I have been trying to go thru small drawers and boxes, as Mrs. Hen recommended, and though I don't feel as if I've made much progress, I have managed to throw out two garbage bags of stuff. (I could not believe some of the junk I discovered. It was hilarious and appalling all at the same time. ) So I guess I'm doing better than I thought. Anyway, thanks again for all the good wishes! It makes me feel so much better to know I have buddies on this board. (Now if I can ever figure out how to get into "chat". . .)

This should teach me to read dates before responding.
Apparently, someone bumped this thread up, and being a bird brain, I just responded.
While the topic of wanting to clean at inappropriate times is constant, the illness which started this thread has obviously been over with for some time.
Sorry if I added to the confusion by responding.
Dear DD,
Sounds more like a Martian Death Flu to me.
I hope you recover quickly.

A thought.
Its 'safe' to feel motivated about cleaning etc. when you have the perfect explanation for why it can't be done at that moment.
Its like having a crush on someone who doesn't know you.
