This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Good Morning,
Sunday is traditionally the Christian day of rest. I believe there is a great deal of wisdom in taking a day of rest every week. It works for me. DH and I call these days "down days". So, today I don't plan to push myself.
TODO: Clear off the couch Clear off the futon Take that morning pill

Good morning Tiger. My Mom speaks of the ragman and getting pennies for bits of metal. And I can remember (barely) having a milk man! You have accomplished some good things on your day of rest! My "resting" for today is going to consist of taking a day off from my treadmill and allowing myself a nice long nap in the afternoon. Apart from that, I hope to be VERY BUSY since I have the whole day to myself with no obligations. My little Molly kitty is still missing, so I HOPE she will turn up today. Ta Da! Got up Opened windows Made iced coffee To Do: Scoop boxes and fresh food/water Get dressed, face washed, hair brushed and up in pony Put away clean dishes in strainer Carrie (fingers crossed for Molly)

Good Morning Tiger, Carrie, and CC, Thank you for starting the tread Tiger. You've been really busy! I like the idea of a day of rest, we should all have some down time. When we lived in England we had a milkman and I loved it. The milk came in the little glass bottles and had a bit of cream on top. This year, we joined a milk co-op and got fresh milk from a farmer. It was great, but we decided to stop getting it, because the milk was unpasteurized. It sure did taste good though! Carrie, I'm so sorry your Molly is missing. I hope she returns safely. CC, I'm glad your back is feeling better. Try not to over do it today It's bright and sunny here this morning. My dh and I went out last night and had a great time. We don't usually get to do that, so it was extra nice. Tadas: Got up. Put bottles on table away. Checked e-mail, lists. Todo: Make coffee /tea (can't believe I haven't had any yet!) Get our clothes ready. Get dressed and be to Church on time.

Creative chaos, take care of your back while you work today! You're off to a good start. Merrymaid, good on you going to church! Maybe I should plan to get my butt there next week myself! It never hurts! hehe Just went to get dressed and a funny thing happened......I keep my undies in the top bin of a set of stackable bins in my closet - can't open closet door all the way just now because of stuff piled outside of it. So, I reached my arm into the closet to grab a pair of undies out of the bin.......and I grab a handful of soft fur!!! My cat Meggie (daughter of Molly-the-missing) is having a lovely morning nap in my undies bin!! Ta Da! Scooped boxes and fresh food/water Dressed, face washed, hair up in pony Clean dishes put away AND Had a lovely ripe nectarine (very juicy) Took morning meds Made second glass of iced coffee To Do: Throw away 10 pieces mail in living room Clear off dresser in bedroom Do 15 mins of clearing stuff off bedroom floor Carrie

I hope that Molly finds her way home. Have you tried standing at the front door and shaking a can of treats/running the can opener/shaking her food bowl- whatever sounds she associates with being fed? I always call the cats to dinner with a particular higher pitched call. I've been able to use it to get them to come to me at other times too. I used to call them with a whistle (even if they were sitting at my feet)- and then used that to call home the temporarily outside cat. I'm going to see my potential new apartment at 2pm. I can't wait- if it's good, then I'll have moving trauma, but at least I won't have to deal with the downstairs neighbor anymore!
Ta dah * Fed myself and washed dishes * Fed cats * Cleaned up cat sick from last night
To do * go see the apartment!!!!!
Wish me luck!

I did it! for the first time since i've signed on this site, i did the 'three things'! the last two days i just was stuck. Today i have 1: gathered up alot of trash, 2: cleaned the bathroom floor, 3: took a shower and started laundry going! i am so mad at myself that i wasted the last two days feeling overwhelmed and stuck and sleeping to avoid it, feeling that any tiny effort wouldn't even make a dent in it. But it does. Even a small effort clears part of the floor where you can see carpet again (even if its bad carpet!) and when i see four or five trash bags filled up then i know i MUST be making some difference. Its very hard to not get discouraged, like this will take forever, but the tiny steps do seem to make some difference....just hope i won't be here taking tiny steps years from now, still trying to conquer it. I feel like if i could take time off from work and just dig into it for days then it would help.

Good luck to syzygy and the apartment. Here's my wishes for a safe homecoming forMiss Molly Kitty. Glad your back is better creative. Good start Merrymaid. Welcome txkyles!
Recent TADAs: Out to breakfast with DH. He didn't get up in time, so we missed church. 10 more things off the dining table. This is a never ending project. I am motivated to have it done before the cubs arrive tomorrow. Big cub (21 months) has been climbing on the table and wreaking havoc. Tossed 3 junk mail and another magazine.
Does it seem like I am bailing a boat with a thimble?
TODO: A nice long map. In front of the TV. DH is already taking one in front of the other TV.

Congrats, txkyles. But it looks like you did a lot more than just three- at least four! And you probably had to get stuff off the floor to wash it. You gathered multiple bags of trash. Did you bring them downstairs/outside/wherever trash goes? That's another one. And laundry is a multi-step operation!
Focus on small steps- they don't take a lot of time to do, but you can see your successes right away.
Most of all, congrats for getting past the overwhelming stage and focusing on what you did.
Keep going- one step at a time.
